My party accidentally adopted a kobold (who actually saved their butt and consequently got knighted and then the party named themselves after him) and then the most recent session had them knocking out a poor helpless merchant who was literally just trying to repay a debt to some rich parents of these kids. I don't understand them but it's fine. No one died.
I’m in two campaigns run by the same guy, I was wondering why he was so nice to the characters of one and let the characters of the other die, then I realized it was that one group was full of murderhobos

Things that are Absolutely Perfect: -the "nice" being in there twice -the sudden urge to poison food so you can chuckle quietly when they realise -the very obvious fake smoke -link's face being scribbled out -Definitely Not Clark -the nicely tied but badly worn tie -the Narration THAT FUCKING AD
What if D&D is an alternate world where the DM and players spontaneously spawn in and wreak havoc not realizing they are affecting the lives of real people and events? Rogue: I'm a Rogue, and you are my little sister. Sister: Wait I have a brother now, awesome- Rogue: But you tragically died in my arms! Sister: What! Why? The player playing the Rogue: I dunno, a Rogue needs a dark, and oftentimes suffering, edge lord origin story. P.S. Imagine the guilt of the murderhobos.
Nah. Maybe a bit of the DM getting revenge for a PC treating NPCs badly, but mostly it seems like a case of DM amusing himself by making the party suffer at every opportunity. Not really DM vs Player mentality.

Since there was no harm, I just shrugged. But it still tickled my mind how a common name becomes alien in a different culture (world?)

I'm still gradually working through all your videos--so glad that I found this channel. I just felt the need to comment because this skit reminded me of something I experienced years and years ago. I'm not a D&D player. If anything, I'm a fanfiction writer. But I did sit in on a few D&D sessions of a friend who DM's. As an outsider observing, I enjoyed listening to the stories. Sometimes they even inspired some of my own writing when I hit a block. But one session--I accidentally interrupted (I think it was the 4th session of an ongoing campaign?) to remind the DM that the villain he made appear for that session had already been eradicated in a prior session (with no way to return) and could not be the one doing this. I stepped out to get a drink. When I returned, I was pretty much pulled in as an NPC-creator. The DM was still in charge, but apparently, I became the minion/monster maker...and an NPC necromancer? I still didn't play, but I became a back-seat DM...in control of the DM himself? It was fun. I still haven't told him that his group often came to me after that incident to re-write the transcripts of the campaign into story form... Ah, those poor NPC's. -smirk-
That fucking spelling of Psteighve killed me instantly, I couldn't hear the rest of the video and had to rewind to watch the rest. I shall now name my son Psteighve in honor of this moment so he shall enjoy the true life building moments of bullying and self-hatred I have erroneously placed upon him.

The DM who's secretly abusive and could really give a damn less about you and the rest of your team because they're entitled. Only you can prevent NPC abuse
Honestly I would love to see a recuring NPC who's goal (that's kept secret untill late game) is to find and stop the DM. It'd be hella difficult to pull off but man that reveal would be amazing.
