1) National Awards

3) IIFA Awards

I don't trust national awards as well, In 2004 saif won it for hum tum and it was the same year in which sharukh's swades came out and this year Ayushman won it for badhai ho , so in conclusion Indian awards can't be trusted.

They would come up with new kind of awards just to satisfy star egos of so many asses. Same goes for IIFA. Can't forget, Award for Best British origin actresses working in India, made up especially to satisfy Katrina Kaif.

'filmfare awards' is the most popular one but 'National awards' is the most respected awards in india...which can be compared to oscars...this year National awards for best acting was won by Vicky Kaushal and ayushmann khurrana for uri and andhadhun respectively....the other awards are not worth mentioning.

@@imonceagainaskingforyourfi4432 see this year not a single tamil movie received any national awards as there was no representation from tamil film industry on the regional panel itself ...so there is no chance of it being discussed at the central committee as they only consider those movies recommended by the regional jury panel...i think this year tamil movies were not even recommended for consideration of central committee...they were all rejected at the regional level itself...thats why even for Special Effects KGF won & not 2.0...see tamil film makers were criticized for not giving their name for consideration on regional panel...2 members each regional panel are selected for the central jury committee...so there is very less chance of it being politicised...

dont watch the indian award shows. they're extremely long, drawn out, comedy material is rly bad, lots of filler. I'd just suggest you react to the nominations/winners when they come out online in discussion video form. seriously, no one actually watches any of these awards. deepika and ranveer care because they're outsiders so it was hard for them to win one but rishi kapoor said himself back in the 90s he bribed to win a lot of these awards lol

Award functions in India run like throughout the night. There's is no time bound. Some people come attend for few minutes go home, eat ,tak a nap ,change clothes and then again make a reentry.

Filmfare is the Oscar equevelant. Also, the big awards usually are allowed to speak for a long time. Best actor, Best Actress, Best Film, Best Director, Best supporting actor and actress. + Deepika's and Ranveer's awards were the last ones to they could take up as much time as they want.

These award shows are not live here. They are usually given out by film magazines and have very less credibility. They usually have a lot of song and dance numbers in between. An edited version of the show is broadcast. The biggest awards are the National Awards given by the President of India and selected by a pan Indian jury, so performances across all Indian languages are awarded, not just Bollywood.

In terms of the level of importance, the only important award are the National Awards. They are presented by the Directorate of Film Festivals (Government of India Agency), and hence is in a way awarded by the government. This year it is the 66th award. The ceremony for these is quite official and not a show event with speeches etc., Interviews are taken separately by media outlets after the announcement of awards. Thy include all the certified movies from India, including all languages. Probably the only award that is in real a India level award.

Next in line in terms fame, is the Filmfare (shown in the video here). It is probably the most important "Hindi Film Industry/Bollywood based awards" Sponsored and presented by a Magazine/Media outlet. This is very close to being a film industry presentation and is moreover very peer based award. It is probably the first awards presented in event/telecast format and hence the importance given to it by the industry.
Next big award are the IIFA awards. They almost have a similar system as the Filmfare. Bollywood centric. The major difference being, the event takes place at an international destinations, sponsored partly by the tourism department of that particular country/city, and acts like an ambassador event.
Like the last two, there are multiple awards for various movie industries, for many languages which are quite coveted in those particular industries.

The biggies here are "the national awards" (honours films and performances from across India), "The Filmfare awards" (Oscar equivilant and only for bollywood). You guys were notified when they took place this year, you even acknowledged that Vicky & Ayushman jointly won the best actor (national awards) and that Alia won best actress (Filmfare). But generally they happen in march.

I think watching award shows in India would not b a good idea... the only genuine awards given r the NATIONAL AWARDS..

The biggest and most high level award given for acting in India is a 'National Awards' which is given by the Government of India. Last year Akshay Kumar got his very first National award after working more than 25+ years in the Film Industry. You can imagine how rare & difficult it is to get a National award !
