I love a pair of either baggy pants or very standard chinos. Only enough cuffing for them to not rip under your feet but to still bag over your shoes. They should also only ever show sock during a long hard push.
bro i got rolled at school this week and shoved all my shit in my cargos and when the mfs patted me down they didnt feel that shit. cargos saved me that day ong 💀💀
For me, Polar ‘93 jeans are perfect. Expensive, but made well and kinda heavy denim that I’ve found to be pretty durable. Baggy enough to be able to move well in them without looking crazy
Same in Europe. We’ve got Carhartt WiP, which is their more fashion oriented brand and everything is at least £40 more than regular Carhartt. And regular Carhartt isn’t really too popular as workwear in this country either
@@senseless2666 were they regular carpenter jeans or were they the wip version. Unless you buy directly buy from the carhartt website in the U.S or the us stores who are licensed to carry them, your gonna over pay. WIP is just a separately owned fashion version from europe. Worked at carhartt for three years. Everything there is severely over priced. Pants aren't bad to skate in but wouldn't wear with out the discount i got.
I was so surprised when he said the quality was cheap. These pants have to be one of the most durable and well made pants imo plus they look great baggy and you can never go wrong with them.
Bare with me but having lived on both coasts, I’d say in California, skating and surfing are popular and acceptable enough nowadays for kids who would have been straight up jocks if they lived in Missouri -to be jocks of the board sport variety. But a significant portion of skateboarders are more on the ‘outsider’ and slightly more artistic/ individual end of the jock spectrum.
The Butter goods jeans are not that baggy. Just Wavy (dude in the clip) is wearing size 42 waists. They are still hella baggy but not as much as in that clip
Overalls are practically very useful, if you get a pair that don’t have the straps flying off everywhere, it makes it a lot more breathable and you don’t get half as sweaty/tired I find. Just allows a lot more air
i used to skate wranglers back in the day because they were tough as nails, didnt rip easily, they were cheap. dickies work pants were in vogue as well as the dickies jacket, the jacket helped you avoid road rash, but the baggy drip always tripped me up when skating, always felt like excessive fabric got in the way when i was setting up, now days i prefer joggers, or slim straight jeans when i skate. shorts are big no no for me, my geriatric ass cant take another knee on the pavement, i wear knee pads and dont give a fuck how goofy and sweaty my knees get
Totally agree with this whole list, besides cargos because I love my Rothco ones 😂 I think you should give Levi 550’s a whirl, the cheaper ones Levi Strauss, they’re actually great baggy fit and cheap
You should do one tier list like this but about full sets of clothing instead of specific things, styles of dudes like Figgy or Wade Desarmo back in the day, sets that are so specific to define. (sorry if my english sucks, I´m learning).
I like the nike pants. Hyun styles them great its like the counter culture you spoke of. He wears his bright nikes and scrunched up joggers and sends hardflips up 6 stairs.
I wore adidas track pants out skating yesterday haha, to damn comfy. Mikey Whitehouse pulled them off but he wears like silver tab pants now so ig he grew out of track pants haha
gonna defend the big boys 🤓🏃(I don't have a single pair) I'm pretty sure they were made in Sweden then moved to Portugal, so the quality is good + harder to rip?.. Also they are baggy and probably fit/feel well. They also seem easy to style. I don't get the cutting out/removal of logos from popularised brands such as Polar or Empyre. I feel like their logos could be a part of a "fit" and also its just a logo (They even look interesting, +6 style points!!! 😁😁)
i like using the big pockets on cargos for my phone, keys, t tool etc without them falling out, so that i dont have to carry a bag, other than that (and skinny jeans, i dont like how they look/feel on me), i agree with a lot of what you're saying
The problem with skinny jeans is that we never called them that. They were just tight pants. And in ‘02, or ‘03, no one was selling actual tight pants, you had 501s and that was basically it. For anything else you had to get creative, go to Goodwill with yr buds and then get your friends mom to hem them. But then the Reynolds Krew jean came along soon thereafter and changed the game, the mid-2000s skater look was born. It wasn’t until a few years later when Levi’s came out with the 511 that the true “skinny jean” phenom started happening outside of skate culture. We were the first to do it, and we were made fun of for it. Never forget. I appreciate the minutiae when noting all the different baggy pants, but I also feel like that type of convo definitely also exists in the tight pants world as well. There are important differences between what the Hollywood dudes were doing like Richie Belton and Justin Roy when compared to Duffel or even the PD crew. That 2002 Hollywood promo video is basically a precursor to what Jon Dickson is doing right now, and all the more power to him for that. Then you also had the dudes on F with the slim bootcuts like Ethan Fowler, Daniel Shimizu, and Tony Silva. It was a wide (skinny) world back then and Duffels paint-on pants were but one small part of that.
I kind of hope corduroys don't make a comeback because I like wearing them and I think it just looks so stupid when everybody looks exactly the same and I don't want to participate in that, but also I kind of do hope they make a comeback a little because they will be more widely available and I haven't found a good pair in a while.
dragged the world known Cargo ("pants originally designed for rough work environments and outdoor activities, distinguished by numerous large utility pockets for carrying tools") into the 21century : a relevant stoner accessory
21:15 Worked as a janitor for a few years and solely wore baggy ass cargo pants with huge pockets, they’re on Amazon, I think they’re called “matched” brand or something like 20 something bucks. I had a khaki, black, and navy pair, and loved them to death. I did in fact keep both my vapes, phone charger, earbuds, e juice and concentrate for my vapes, my wallet, phone, and my big ole keys, all 8 of my pockets had some shit in it, and a few were very organized and coordinated. I now work a warehouse job I shouldn’t be getting high at, and don’t use nicotine anymore so I just wear Levi 501’s now I found at Costco for 40 bucks, much less intimidating pants I must admit, and I miss the sway my 5 pounds of shit in my pockets would make when walking.
For real.. I remember early 2000s skinny jeans for men was not a thing and we were literally going to American Eagle and buying girls jeans to try and be as cool as Duffel and Boulala and Greco.. then Krew and RVCA started making skinny jeans and mainstream Levi's etc followed suit. I remember dudes in school trying to make fun of us for wearing girl pants and then being confused when chicks thought it was sexy 😆 literally lived through the turning point of skaters going from being lame to popular. I enjoyed it at the time but seeing what the popularity has turned skating into I wish it would've never happened honestly.
