    Training, Officer presence, physical fitness should matter as well. Some will be fit but not well trained, other have the training but are not fit. One should look at oneself in all aspects and improve where needed.

    I think the most valuable training is doing "real" situations but with paintballs or airsoft but ACTUALLY try to "one up each other" or trick each and just see what you can get away with and be prepared for as if you were an actual suspect or Officer. Like just roleplay an actual scenario and steer away from the "generic training exercises" that usually don't apply exactly in the real world. And take everything extremely seriously especially if you end up firing weapons, which should be avoided as you already know.

    What crimes do the US Marshals investigate? I'm specifically wanting to know about criminal investigations rather than Fugitive investigations. It seems to me that Fugitive Investigations would be completely different from criminal investigations. Because a Fugitive is already wanted and the job of the US Marshal is to find the fugitive. A criminal investigation would involve figuring out who committed a crime and then obtaining sufficient evidence for trial. It seems like US Marshals are trained in criminal investigations but it is unclear exactly what crimes they would investigate. They mate hunt murderers who are fugitives but I assume they don't have the actual role of investigating murders.

      Marshals investigate Adam Walsh Act Cases, Threat Investigations and moving towards some gun prosecutions.

    • @joekiwi200
      @joekiwi200 Рік тому

      @@stephenhall5115 Thanks for your reply. I wonder if you know how much of their work is based on specifically investigating crimes? It sounds like the crimes they would investigate are pretty straight forward (failing to register as a sex offender) which doesn't seem like it would require extensive training in criminal investigations.
      I have always found the US Marshals Service to be the most fascinating law enforcement agency and really quite unique. As an example, the FBI is made up of what is essentially detectives with limited jurisdiction but with a different name "special agent". Information on being a detective is readily available but information about the US Marshals service is a lot harder to come by as the role seems so unique. Do you know how their training/processes/strategies may differ from a criminal investigation when they are conducting a fugitive investigation?

    • @stephenhall5115
      @stephenhall5115 Рік тому

      The Marshal Service is made up of 94 districts with 94 different ways of doing things.
      The USMS Is basically broken up into groupings. Your Operational District Depuites , you’re “hooking and Hauling” and manning court, with sone warrant work mixed in workload permitting. Then you have your task force DUSMS. Basically all they do is work warrants mainly your state paper .
      All DUSMS are 1811’s, and just recently got journeyman 13’s. One of the hold-ups is justifying a GS-13 when you’re sitting in court babysitting bandits. But the Adam Walsh Investigations and the threat investigation pretty much provided the needed push.
      I see the USMS getting and expanded role because the service is adding 1801 positions. Basically a uniform position to handle the grunt work of court ops to get the DUSMS out in the streets.
      As for as investigating murders and robberies you are correct. DUSMS don’t investigate the crime itself they just go after the body.

    • @joekiwi200
      @joekiwi200 Рік тому

      @@stephenhall5115 What's confusing me is that they do the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers’ Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) which is a full detectives course but then they don't appear to actually use a lot of that training because if they are only investigating Adan Walsh violations isn't that essentially job situations where someone fails to register? It seems to me that the CITP course is not really appropriate for US Marshals and more tactical training would be better.
      Also, I have a long list of questions about the US Marshals Service - are you a former or current deputy Marshal?
      I wanted to make a computer game about them about a decade ago and did a lot of research on them but there were a few things I just couldn't find information on.

    I give this example to each of my new troops of cadets and have over the 15 years of instructing.
    Imagine we offer Mike Tyson a contract. He wants to know who he will fight. We don't know. He wants to know when. We don't know but somewhere over the next 35 years. He will ask where. Could be anywhere. On a street, in an alley, at a mall or even in your own home. Further, I would tell him that the person he will fight will likely be high or drinking and less likely to feel pain. He will probably have at least one weapon on him that he will use when your back is turned and he will likely have at least one buddy with him. Oh by the way, if the guy is a different skin color than you, the media will villainize you and your leadership is very likely to throw you under the bus. What do they think Mike is going to say when I tell him this is all for about the same money a high school teacher with a master's degree makes but get the summers off? He's going to tell me to pound sand. That is what society is asking them to do and they had best do it perfectly. No room for errors like doctors and medical malpractice suits.

    • @grnhrntskato
      @grnhrntskato Рік тому

      @@jdeleon9694 Well sure. All law enforcement professionals and criminology experts know that most criminals in North America use vehicles for travel to crime scenes. Transport proceeds of crime, drugs, weapons and victims of human trafficking. Add to that the need to detect impaired drivers and drivers who carry no insurance so victims of a collision cannot make an insurance claim for damages or medical treatment. So in essence, they are saving the world one stop at a time.
      But hey, anytime you want to get in shape, undergo hundreds of hours of disciplined training, learn to take orders and work as a time, you might be able to get through basic training. Then you can head on out into the world and experience the worst of what society has to offer while trying to avoid being killed or having your reputation ruined for doing the very job you were hired to do. Then you can sit back and dazzle us with your newfound insight into policing and what life would look like without it.

    There’s a major problem with law enforcement in this country. It’s emblematic in the way the first guy was talking. He was referring to officers AND citizens.
    Officers ARE citizens. Full stop.
    Words are important, and this way of drawing distinction between yourself and the people is dangerous. It creates a hostile, us vs. them mentality that goes both ways.
    Perhaps if law enforcement and the public weren’t seen as “others” from each other, there could be a little more respect and understanding going both ways, making this country safer for all.

      @chrismadison305 reading comprehension not your strong suit? Oh, I see now, based off of your pic of course it’s not, now it makes sense.
      I know exactly of what I speak, you however seem to be lacking?
      I said all officers are citizens, not the other way around.
      They, and you would do well to remember that.
      You are the one twisting the words spoken in the video, typical for your profession, obviously.
      I suggest you rewatch it, and this time pay attention, to the best of your ability, of course.

    Training only does so much! Ending qualified immunity would make that training much more important and critical! Wouldn't take long to weed the bad cops out!
