I mean technically you could - my schools always accepted youtube, tho they never accepted wikipedia. But it'd better to reference the sources that adum referenced, not adum himself.
Adam is like Wikipedia in this scenario. He's got a shit ton of info, however he is not the source of said info. You would need to cite whatever sources Adam used.
You don't need to cite the review as a source, adum's not using any unique research or new information. All you need to do is cite the correct episodes with timestamps.
Wikipedia gets too much hate. Yeah it has a good amount of untrue things posted on it, but the sources to many subjects are pretty legit. It's super useful to find good sources for research. There's more positives than negatives.
The reason Wikipedia gets hate is because it's user based. The moderators are users with bias. There's no one to uphold a neutral/purely scholarly perspective and anyone can submit edits. If you look at a page like Gamergate (I know, I know) you'll see that it's clearly run by people with a bias. If you're going to use Wikipedia as a start for finding sources and you do the rest of the groundwork yourself (using your brain and visiting the sources instead of directly sourcing a wiki page) then sure you can use wikipedia for good.
Adum brings up a great point. Ignore what Wikipedia says, follow the sources it cites. Usually you will get a much clearer picture with many more anecdotes than the editorialized Wiki entry.
I hadn't even considered that but you definitely dealt with the troubled perspective in a way that I am swayed to believing it's a typo. Good on you man.

Disclaimer: years are talking about release, assume involvement is leading up to that year The director of Jungle Emperor Leo, Yoshio Takeuchi, narrows the production schedule considerably. More importantly, he was *also the screenwriter* for Jungle Emperor Leo, meaning he was absolutely critical for all stages of the production process. He directed 2001 Ya Monogatari, an OVA that released in June 1987, with a bunch of other work prior to that that makes it unlikely for him to have been working on JEL during the period prior to it. Then his output slows, with two works under his directing credit coming out between 2001 Ya Monogatari and Jungle King Leo - a short in 1993 and a full movie in 1996. He did the screenplay for works in 1990 and 1988, and was an animation director for Akira (yes, that Akira) in 1988. He would've been super busy in 1987, but using the power of inference we can assume (somewhat safely) his work in Akira (along with his earlier work directing episodes for The Rose of Versailles and Space Cobra) is what got him the job, since otherwise his catalog leading up to that point was mostly less well-received work. Here's my best educated guess. If you combine this information with what we can glean from the release history of Tezuka Productions, you can get a good picture of what was going on in their studio during the development of this film. Tezuka Productions doesn't typically have more than one series per year. Additionally, there's a glaring five year gap between the 1991-92 run of the Dear Brother anime and the 1997 releases of Jungle Emperor Leo and Bible Stories. Yoshio Takeuchi is coming off his first movie in 1987 and [as we can infer from his total disinterest in episode directing between 1986 (Honeybee in Toycomland for TMS) and 2002 (Beyblade)] is looking to direct again. He works in the animation department for Akira while trying to find another production company willing to put him in the director's chair (he notably works for a ton of different companies during this period). Sometime between 1988 and 1991 most likely, this gets the attention of Tezuka Productions, who've been wanting to release a film version of Kimba. They bring him on to start working on the screenplay. It's likely this is why there's a big gap in time for the studio and Takeuchi here. He has to find a way to adapt a 52 episode anime and the older three volume manga series it's based on into an hour-and-a-half. He's got a bigger budget than he's accustomed to and, with the death of Tezuka himself, a ton of pressure to get it right. In parallel, Disney is in production for the Lion King. Development begins in 1988. The Lion King goes into actual production in 1991 alongside Pocahontas. Names start getting attached. Word spreads. The Lion King is looking at a 1993 release date. Tezuka Productions might have been looking at a 1993 release date for Jungle Emperor Leo, but then they panic because they're going to being going head-to-head with The Mouse with lion movies when they're smaller. So they delay. Unfortunately for them, The Lion King gets delayed by rewrites. The Lion King finally releases in mid 1994. It's a massive success. Tezuka Productions is then in the awkward position of having a movie that's going to be completely ignored because "the greatest animated movie of all time also centered around lions" just came out. So they wait it out. Maybe they have some rewrites, but probably they don't since Yoshiro Takeuchi directs a full-length movie that comes out in 1996, meaning he would've been working on it in 1995 if not 1994. The Lion King doesn't just do well in theaters though, it crushes in home video too, becoming the best-selling VHS ever when it's released in March 1995. At this point, Tezuka Productions have been sitting on Jungle Emperor Leo for probably 3 years. They've moved on in production - Bible Stories comes out in '97, so we know it was being worked on in '96 if not also '95. They're just biding their time for Disney to quiet down a little to release JEL, which they get an opportunity to do when Hercules comparatively stumbles in 1997. TL,DR; Using Yoshio Takeuchi and Tezuka Productions' release history, it appears primary production for Jungle Emperor Leo took place between 1991 and 1995, with development beginning in 1989 or 1990 in conjunction with the Tezuka Kimba animated series. Takeuchi's work on the screenplay means it couldn't have started development until after 1988 and the short film he was working on meant he wasn't working on JEL exclusively during 1993. Tezuka Production was busy animating Dear Brother in 1990-91, and were likely planning to focus more on JEL once that run was finished. Then The Lion King goes into production in 1991, throwing a huge wrench into things. They aren't ready or otherwise willing to release in 93/early 94, so they decide to wait out The Lion King to see if they need to do any altering of their own film. The Lion King gets huge and delays them further since they know JEL will do terribly if they release it in the newly-saturated talking lion animated feature market, meanwhile Takeuchi has either moved on or does some work with rewrites then moves on and starts work on his next directorial project through 1995 for an eventual 1996 release. This is all guess work, but it's the best I can figure things with the sources available.
Adam's gonna end up discovering that the kimba controversy is a cover for some conspiracy or cult or some shit. That is the only way this can get any deeper.
acapela-box.com/ Most of them are randomly selected. The exceptions being that I do "Will (Far Away)" for my posts as GrandSalamancer, and "Will (Old man)" for Imaginary Fanboy (Reference to this video: ua-cam.com/video/WS59skXr0Hs/v-deo.html).
If that copyright date is correct then the movie would have to be completely finished in 1987 but only got distributed a decade later, even though there was a Kimba show that debuted in 1989. Scripts have copyrights, but those are different from movie copyrights which is what production companies are far more concerned with. So unless there is any other reason to believe otherwise, this should be treated as a typo.
Well I found one. Someone challenged me in the comments of the Kimba review and was like ‘Do you actually believe the 1997 movie was made in 1997?? Adam is just trying to be controversial by taking a side against what is widely accepted.’ I felt dumber just reading his argument...
Another thing about it is if the copyright date on the trailer was right, that would be really inefficient and be really expensive to release a trailer for a film that gets shelved for 10 years. Trailers usually publish to a cut of the film that is months close to release, teasers about a year. To have a trailer hit when the film won't release 10 years later just doesn't functionally and financially make any sense.
I cannot believe the lengths these people went to justify their hatred for The Lion King. I'm still mad at myself for trusting the word of that one lady, since she was a respected, long-time participant in another fandom. I just took her word for it, and that was foolish of me.
There was a time when I first heard about this controversy and doubted my love for Lion King as it's my all time favorite movie. But eventually, I realized it was all just coincidences rather than ripoff. The further Adam's research for all this goes, the further I begin to see how ignorant these "sources" who claim that Lion King ripped off Kimba are, even to the point of actually not seeing Kimba.
I thought tracing renassiance art to the correct artist. No signatures, and sometimes not even a commission sheet to reference, was next to impossible. But oddly trying to uncover production of an animated movie from the 90s is proving just as difficult.
Hint: You can contract the Chinese outsource company, Beijing Xiele Art, that worked on the 1997 movie via their website: www.xiele.com.cn/contact_us_en.htm They even did the storyboarding and are a company specialized with Tezuka production, so they've been on the project since the start. Their website caters to English as well, as they also work with American productions, so they should be able to talk to you. There's btw several cells from the studio available online for chips, but I sadly couldn't find a certificate on any of them that would give you the actual dates for when they were developed. But several of them are visible in the trailer, so if you ask the artists behind them when it was done, you can get your answer.
Really appreciate your compilations :) it makes it all so much easier to follow everything thats happening. And its great context for when the reviews eventually come out. Im not gonna watch all those streams :') i will give my view to you instead! Thanks!

@@darienwest4748 Watched the other videos already lmao. Once again. Can easily rip off 1 minute of a couple scenes each. Adumz's argument is basically "hurr durr plot not same can't be copy".

Totally not a rip off. The first 2 hours are completely different.
Adam is losing his mind with this... this is gold..
I can’t wait for this entire thing to be a down the rabbit hole episode.

Adum: "This book is the most researched thing on this situation."
Me with perspective from after his Kimba review: "Not anymore!"
Thanks for these videos dude. I'm a big YMS fan and this stuff has been real interesting, but I never have the time to watch full livestreams. You're doing an honourable service dude.
"Hello yes it's me, Doctor Adum 'YMS' Highlights, PhD in Kimbology."
I really like how you highlight the comments to make the viewing feel more organic, please keep at it
For the sake of argument, even if this movie was in production hell, why would Disney send spies across the world to steal storyboards from a studio that's struggling enough to have their movies in production hell?
Can we all agree that it's frightening when Adam gets actually pissed off
Aaron Blaise is a former Disney animator who worked on the original lion king, and has a youtube channel.
I mention this because I think he might help you clear some of this stuff.

In theory, if someone were to actually write a dissertation on the Kinda situation, could they have the YMS review as a reference and source? Dude's putting enough effort for it to be a paper
Possibly, but you might be better off just stealing all of his primary sources
I mean technically you could - my schools always accepted youtube, tho they never accepted wikipedia. But it'd better to reference the sources that adum referenced, not adum himself.
Adam is like Wikipedia in this scenario. He's got a shit ton of info, however he is not the source of said info. You would need to cite whatever sources Adam used.
You don't need to cite the review as a source, adum's not using any unique research or new information. All you need to do is cite the correct episodes with timestamps.
Adam has become Jake Gyllenhaal’s character in Zodiac
Wikipedia gets too much hate. Yeah it has a good amount of untrue things posted on it, but the sources to many subjects are pretty legit. It's super useful to find good sources for research. There's more positives than negatives.
I agree. But the most important part of a Wikipedia article is the citation. Citing Wikipedia is just as silly as citing a UA-cam video.
Apart from editing pages to say stupid stuff (no idea why that website even allows that), I don't get the hate either.
The reason Wikipedia gets hate is because it's user based. The moderators are users with bias. There's no one to uphold a neutral/purely scholarly perspective and anyone can submit edits. If you look at a page like Gamergate (I know, I know) you'll see that it's clearly run by people with a bias.
If you're going to use Wikipedia as a start for finding sources and you do the rest of the groundwork yourself (using your brain and visiting the sources instead of directly sourcing a wiki page) then sure you can use wikipedia for good.
this may be Adam's magnum opus
That’s gonna be the lion king 2019 review.
@@clayjack9969 as if that will come out in the next few years lol
Y'all remember when this just started out as a Lion King review?
Adum brings up a great point. Ignore what Wikipedia says, follow the sources it cites. Usually you will get a much clearer picture with many more anecdotes than the editorialized Wiki entry.
After all this research, Adam is going to be the premier scholar on all things Kimba related. Certainly, he is at the very top in the western world!
I hadn't even considered that but you definitely dealt with the troubled perspective in a way that I am swayed to believing it's a typo. Good on you man.
I’m glad to see that Bigweld from Robots the movie is still alive.
this is going to be the best 10 hour documentary ever

adum, the Kimba-historian. not even a fan of the series, just stuck in the rabbit hole. lol
His dedication for accuracy and debate has led him to begrudgingly becoming the only Kimba expert on the internet.
He's like the Steven Colbert for this tiny, self-righteous furball and he never even wanted to be.
You're doing the lion's share of work on this project.
Every time I see the same false arguments for “unga-bunga Disney ripped off Kimba,” I want to commit Moonfasa.
It's 1997!
I want to binge watch Kimba then see adams streams uncut at this point.
The person who typed out 1987 as a copyright had no idea what their mistake would become 😂
I've never seen a typo create one hell of a mess like this one before.
I am more hyped for the kimba video than the lion king yms after seeing all of this now tbh.
Disclaimer: years are talking about release, assume involvement is leading up to that year
The director of Jungle Emperor Leo, Yoshio Takeuchi, narrows the production schedule considerably.
Someone out there will never know that their small typo gave Adam several sleepless nights
He was so mad haha I remember being on that stream in the middle wondering what was going on and I asked him one of those questions in this video.

Holy shit I can finally witness the mental breakdown of a UA-camr and it's all caused by a japanese anime about a fun lil lion.
Michael Strong Same here! I’m glad I’m no longer ashamed of loving one of my favorite movies.
depressed cockroach Don’t worry, a lot of us are in the same boat and I have a feeling that many more will join us.
I'm glad Adam is wearing his Marvel Cinematic Universe shirt.
I thought tracing renassiance art to the correct artist. No signatures, and sometimes not even a commission sheet to reference, was next to impossible. But oddly trying to uncover production of an animated movie from the 90s is proving just as difficult.
The term "Kimbahole" would be used in journalism for generations!

Adam’s inability to read the word Shouchiku amazes me. Again and again and again.
this kimba video is desrtoying adum omg
I would not want to be on the other end of a debate table with this guy lol
Hint: You can contract the Chinese outsource company, Beijing Xiele Art, that worked on the 1997 movie via their website:
www.xiele.com.cn/contact_us_en.htm
They even did the storyboarding and are a company specialized with Tezuka production, so they've been on the project since the start.
