Hey Jacob, on the slim chance of you reading this... For the screen issue, you could look into installing EDID emulators. It's a small piece of Hardware that goes between monitor and PC and constantly signals the PC that there is a monitor with a certain resolution and refresh rate connected. It keeps sending the signal also when you switch off the screen or unplug it. I used these for multi-screen installations for events in the past to prevent this exact thing. If one screen gets a small dip in power or somebody switches one off, the whole setup would get thrown off. With the emulators installed though, the PC always receives the monitor connection signal and sends out its video happily.
For anxious folks like me who want to skip troubleshooting: The game crashes are timestamped as chapters! (I was about to put time stamps in a comment)
