you do very professional work ...the speakers that I own ...and love are my 2 Altec Lancing 418b and my 2 Electro voice EVM 18 ..they sound amazing..the reason we love audio equipment ..is because our love for music!!!
Nice job. Exacting work. Reusing the cork is a bit bothersome to me as the thickness may vary but I can see why. Thanks for the ride. I’ll leave my reconing to an experienced craftsman. Where are you Carsell?!
I just bought a pair of altec 872b. And they come with biflex full range 420a or 420y. I'm not sure but been reading on audio karma that you can convert these to 416s. Do you know if this is possible?.
I have those altec 416 but i need to now what is the name of the company did you bought the cone, the voice coil and the dust cap? And if they are original parts, i need that info i want to restore those speakers, please
Excellent work. I bought a reconed set of these speakers last year. One of them rubs.,decentered in transport? Is it possible to fix it.?What's your advice
Nice informative video! I love speakers. Have since I was 15 back in the 70's and discovered an old Leslie cabinet stored in the church we went to. (I didn't know what a Leslie was, I just wanted to see the speaker inside it - imagine my surprise when I saw a fan belt, electric motor, pulley and round metal drum in between 2 spkrs facing each other & mounted in a 'V' pattern!) Is this a hobby you do, supplemental income, or your main source of income?
im a speaker fanatic too. when i was 15 i made my speakers out of a cardboard front wooden box. lol. the speakers came out of an old floor model tv and stereo combo. it was as long as a couch.
I have a set of 35 yr. old JBL -L112 s that I love and I want to get up dated, caps, resistors and possibly tweeters. I know the Tweeters the 144 are good but I also know there are some better ones. I can't find anyone to rebuild these....would you be interested ?
I wish you had a scale... so you could have weighed those cones in grams etc.. Also, do you trust the other components when they sent you the 1" wide gaskets? It looks like a hodgepodge of inexpensive imported components. Thank you for sharing your video.
Master of Recone, like your work !
Excellent tutorial !
Beautiful job. Thanks for showing us this process.

Excellent job bro!
i believe those extra gaskets are for if you want to mount the woofers on the outside of the enclosure, instead of inside.
Damn this the best video ever
Thank you.. all i needed to know for my 416 ..
very clean work
Awesome job, thank you.
Who can make your job if you get older?reconing? Top job.👌🇩🇪
I believe somewhere around the late 70's Altec 15" woofer frames were no longer 15" and were 16" instead and that is what those foam gaskets are for.

Fiber Glass vs paper is gonna give you a huge difference in sound quality. The original one, paper one is much better despite power handling

Cut the dust cap off and you can see where it's rubbing. Shim real tight where it rubs and let it sit a couple of days!
