YOU GOTTA LOVE BENIMARU! A guy who uses English, says "Who the Hell are you?" and "Jesus!" A guy who knows some French (KOF XIII reference) A guy with EFFIN' 'lectric powers and electrified himself lots!
The infamous Rugal lives up to what I've heard about him, that guy is fast and really strong. I've read on wikipedia that a common strategy for beating him in the 2nd round was to just do some damage and avoid getting killed while having more health than him. Not sure how well that's supposed to work since he has such good spammable moves.
people saying this game is a ripped off from street fighter has probably never play this game b4, the techique and the pace this game required are insane compare to the street fighter which were around the same year, and ppls go crazy with this game back in the day
i do acknowledge that, but what time game has compared to street fighter 2, which took like 8 years b4 finally having a final version and also ripped off how many of you guys money?
getter3in1 Also, without this game we wouldn't even have super moves or dashing (by tapping forward or back twice) which are now almost required for a decent fighting game. SNK invented the super-bar/meter on the bottom of the screen.
It wasn't around the same year. Street Fighter 1 came out in 1987, and the one most people are referencing, Street Fighter II, came out in 1991. Fatal Fury, the first real SNK 1-on-1 fighter, also came out in 1991, but after SFII. The two games DON'T have quite the same play style. However, to ignore SFII's impact and major influence on pretty much all of SNK's fighting games (and any fighting games that came after it), is kind of silly. King of Fighters is great, and isn't a blatant Street Fighter "Ripoff". But give credit where it is due.
We are opening King Of Fighters 1994 following the time honored custom. This year we will adopt a special rule of competition between teams of 3 fighters. That's all.. [R]

I noticed this bit about Lucky Glauber, he wears Nike shoes in KOF 94, and the game was inmensely popular at that moment and the Nike company didn't file copyright. But in KOF 98 he got new clothes, and doesn't have his Nike shoes, and funny enough. Those 2 games are the KOF games released on Switch, and KOF 94 didn't change Lucky's sprite because it's a direct emulation. Well, Nike still doesn't give a shit, not even for 23 years, what the fuck. But still, the shoes were a nice touch by Shinkiro when he designed the USA Sports Team
@@jamessimmons3921 They did say Guy though. They didn't mean "that guy from Street Fighter Alpha" they just flat out said "Guy from Street Fighter Alpha".
I use to play this on the Wii Virtual console, and I played the American Sports Team most of the time since they hardly appeared in any future installments other then 98'; Brain was right about Rugal, he's sick and mad! One thing I also learned from playing 94' was to use aviod stance to aviod chip damage and never jump alot since most characters have anti-air moves.
@Metaloazzyable Iori was created around the time when KOF 95 was in development. So basically, he didn't exist when SNK was working on 94. So 95 was the game that he debuted.
Damn, I can't believe how good and detail-rich all the stages were. I really like the intros. This game feels a lot more immersive than entries, despite the fact that it is more archaic and less refined gameplay-wise.
Possibly yes. Alot of fighting game fans have notices the references to other non snk fighting game chars (e.g capcom) appearing in that scene. Apart from guile, there's another one that looks like akuma.
Oh man this brings me back! While it isn't my favourite KoF game, it is still the first arcade game I ever played, and one of the first fightning games. I remember playing it every day down at the videogame store, on this huge capcom cabinet, good times. That England team sure got pounded! Love how their clothes rip when finished off by a special attack :D
Dude this so nostalgic. I remember playing this in "las maquinitas" when i was a kid with my cousins when I used to live back in Mexico in 1995. Skipping kindergarten to play "maquinitas" XD. Those were the good old days. XD
I really respect you, Cubex55! I love watching your vids! You're really good and anyone who insults you for the way you play doesn't know much of anything!
Before Marvel VS Capcom and Super Smash Bros, however, The King of Fighters series was the first fighting crossover game that features a character from Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Psycho Soldiers, and Ikari Warriors.
3:16... feel that sound ahahahah good times the 90 s i was play this game in 1995 with 8 years, actually im still playing kof in my house with my childrens =D
Happy 30th anniversary, King of Fighters. At first, I thought it was just a Street Fighter clone. But then I did some research and found it's a crossover of various SNK IPs, which gives the hgame its own charm.
I remember that the fatal fury game says ¨¨FATAL FURY THE KING OF FIGHTER¨ are conected with the oldies games psico-soldiers, ikari warriors, art of figHting, etc. rugal use the krauser wave of kreuser, from fatal fury. and the high kick is similar to the krauser high kick, also he throws a similar power to soil raz that geese howard also do.
Probably translation was kind of poor back then 'x' But still, Japanese dialogue to English dialogue would be kind of funny I guess if it was poorly translated or some other way
If there was an option to select your team in the early KOF, what would your team consist of instead of going by country? Mine would be Brian Battler (USA), Ralf (BRA) and Mai Shiranui (ENG) from this game.

Team Mexico is 2 Japanese men and an Italian man that hangs out with them. Seems legit.
Yes that said in Art of Fighting Intro
I know, but I don´ t why SNK made him an Italian guy
Oh I didn´t know it.
