Official video of Massive Attack performing Butterfly Caught from the album 100th Window.
this is not just music. this is magic. cello is really breathtaking
i wrote the same under another massive attack song. Massive Attack is out of this world
There whole future proof album is amazing
It’s actually under the sub genre of TripHop. An alternative European version of HipHop.
I love how it reverberates in the room. I always wanted to play the Cello. I believe it to be a divine instrument. It has a resonance similar to the sound of God. Similar to an Om, or Gregorian chants. I'm glad someone else appreciates the separate pieces of the puzzle. Sorry to be a spazz lol
@mikejett2733 My favorites are Mezzanine and 100th Window. Truly next level artistry. I consider myself an Audiophile & hear Everything. We know what truly good shit is lol
Definitely one of my top songs and most favorite of all time from any genre. It is creepy, dark, moody, disturbing, eerie, depressing, sad, beautiful, but very danceable and uplifting at the same time. This video is pure magic! In fact, the whole album is a masterpiece! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
you good.🤝
Zgadza się, pozdrawiam z Polski.
Hipnotyzuje,niesamowite,przepiękne.

this song feels like being relaxed enough to fall asleep, but being just a bit too sick or anxious to, and just rolling around in bed for hours never getting any rest
high af rn and this is exactly how i feel
It's 2021... And we're still coming here.
Those effects can be make with premier pro?
2021 this is still epic the hole CD still getting plays in my crib this is "MASSIVE" say the rest... Yeah
Timeless music. Killer vid. Why the hell not. A moment of silence for the sorry saps who don't know our secret.
@@giantfisher Great comment my friend 👊
@@davidgreen1504 Awe, that was my heart talkin', that's all. Be well.
The beat being in sync with the flapping of moth's wings is fire.
This music has such an overwhelming affect on my teenage years
I'm barely listening to this album I'm 35 now when it came out think was probably 15 16 but didn't know about the group which sucks cause love their stuff
so lucky i found this band when i was barely a preteen
I have just got into it a few decades beyond those years but hey when it hits it hits!
Mine too. Found out about them when I was 15, thanks to the movie Sliver.
Same. Kinda discovered them by accident. Just digging around in a record store stoned one day and what do ya know? Blue Lines😅
2020 and I still come back here.
Hehe (2021) same here
The lyrics is just like a painting, no end and no beginning, maybe like a graffiti even ;)
where where you going?
Saw them live in San Diego September 2020.
YEP
Their most sinister song and music video. Trip-hop mania!
Such an underrated and underappreciated album. Made my days back then and still to this date!
And video
MASSIVE ATTACK FOREVER!!!
Raziel Dark YEAH
And ever!
YES!! AAAAHHHGGHHGHghghh...!!!!!!!!!!
Yeahhhh!!🤘🏼🤘🏿
That scene from 3:52 was truly a world class choreography.Makes me wanna see that scene in a movie.
I love this song so much! I recently discovered, after 7 years of having Spotify, that this is my most played song ever.
I think it may actually be my favorite song ever.
What a masterpiece.
it's quite similar to thom yorke's black swan
'One day, Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman, wakes up to find himself transformed into a monstrous vermin. He believes it is a dream and reflects on how dreary life as a traveling salesman is. As he looks at the wall clock, he notices that he has overslept and missed his train for work'
'The Metamorphosis', Franz Kafka
tfw bludgeoned with an apple
That book made me cry
😂 😂 😂 Kafka forever

Good call!
Still listening after 20 years🖤
3D on the violin in Butterfly Caught - “What I like about the violin in Butterfly Caught is that it is so non-definable; it sounds both oriental and western at the same time, as though it originated in Istanbul, when the Bosporus was still the limit between East and West.” [Humo Magazine - March 2003]
Gözümsün 3D.
bu adama aşık olmamak elde değil
This group is so underrated and unappreciated anyone agree. Their music is so out of this world way different than anything I have ever listened to in my life and every song has great meaning behind there songs.
They are the real deal and the good stuff in the music industry
They're so underrated. More influential than the ever get credit for.
100%
Which sense underrated? by critics no at all, they're considered fundamental. If you mean the public, for sure they're too tough (not for me, I mean), or too creepy... that's not easy pop..as you say, they're very influential, think among musicians. Anyway they're greatly estimated as I see
I think you mean underexposed
Pure love for Massive attack. Makes me make my own world again and again
you understand the song.
Genius, the whole album was a brave exploration away from the "classic" Massive Attack sound. My fave massive attack album, it`s dark and beautiful.
What does this song mean? Is it about the loss of innocence and being repressed?
singmedia, I caught that too. but its a great album. refreshing.
This is fire as F, SO SO ahead of its time
The face art butterfly looks incredible
One of the best songs and videos by Massive Attack. It is just so creepy and eerie.
Przepiękne
Massive Attack’s videos are so incredible
I like to think this is how the Mothman really looks like. And the lyrics are so dark!! Almost sounds like a killer recounting his crimes or something like that, so they barely make any sense but to him only.
its 2057 and im still coming back to this track
Been here before, been here forever.
one of the best body painting i ever seen. love it.
I think it is true that trip hop is a drug. I listen to butterfly caught from 4 to 8 hours a day. A DAY! And I have never felt tired of it. Better. I WANTED MORE AND MORE. That is called a serious addiction! Best song of my entire life! It never gets boring!
Where you at
Did it get boring?
That’s kind of scary bro
I mean, this could theoretically go for 4-8 hours as a continuous stream of consciousness with different lyrics ongoingly, and it would never get old. It is a subversive stream.
Classic tune...Robert Del Naja is a beast
This is one of my favorite tracks by Massive Attack. They are SO phenominal.
Some of the best music comes out of England. I can't tell you the amount of English groups I LOVE...Massive Attack being one of the best!
Paradise Lost is my fav metal band. I agree, England is gold for music.
Agreed
You forgot to mention Tricky
fav song of all time, Massive Attack @Rockn Roll Hall of Fame, best Band ever
Massive Attack Forever!!🙏
This song is my favourite narcotic massive attack song....they kept us going for 20 years and more....respect
Nearly twenty years since this absolute masterpiece emerged into an unsuspecting world; and every bit as broodingly immersive, enigmatic and captivating as it was the first time I heard it. IMO a high point on 100th Window and arguably one of Massive Attack's finest works. Cheers guys!
Funnily enough, whilst I love 100th Window and consider it one of the best albums ever, this is my least favourite track on the album.
@@k-leb4671 Funny how tastes can differ so much.. which would you say are you favourite three on the album? I think I'd go for this, Future Proof and Antistar, FWIW.
@@Mike-de7wv oh, definitely Antistar. That song is a religious experience.
My two other favourites are probably Name Taken and Small Time Shot Away.
Hmm, that's actually the last 3 tracks on the album. They really knew how to end this album.
This is the best music video in the universe.
the work which went into details, this is a masterpiece.
had this lightly playing in the background when i was asleep once. When its 2am and you're groggy as hell, this song is freaky as hell lol
Same but with Mezzanine (the title track)
360p quality for this video is a funkin crime
Massive Attack was such a mood for me back in my early 20's.
"Butterfly Caught"
[Verse 1]
Weightless falls
Honeysuckle
Strangers
Strange this
Light from pages
Paper thin thing
Protected by the naked eye
Pearly sunrise
Nearly worn
Kneeling like a supplicant
[Hook]
Darkened skin
Afraid to see
Radiate
Open lips
Keep smiling for me
Darkened skin
Afraid to see
Radiate
Open lips
Keep smiling for me
[Verse 2]
Weightless cool honeysuckle
Fair skin
Freckles
Uncut teeth
Tranquil eyes
Bite my lips
Bite my lips
Under your feet

Album 100TH WINDOW (2003)
he's so beautiful ! the makeup artists did a crazy job !
Still fav in 2024 ....❤❤
Anyone else who believes this track is a must in the series ‘ Dark’
This track is always a must🤗
...I don’t have words How Masterpiece This is...
This song is one of the things that marks my life (I listen to this 2-3 hours a day). True inspiration, the power of art, beauty in darkness. Although I make a more heavy and concentrated music, this song is one of the greatest things I heard in my life and I'm planning to make a similiar, but not the same, song to pay homage to this song. Butterfly Caught is epic!
Another spectacular track from one of my all-time favourite bands.
I love Massive Attack since late 90’s. Just a different trip hop groove w sick beats.
Even though most people will not agree with me, i think 100th window is MA's strongest effort. You see Del Naja's doubt, musicalism and paranoia all in just a few songs, it's hauntingly beautiful.
epic song ... massive attack is the best group ever !
I remember I heard this song on TV long long time ago, fall in love right away. And still coming back to listen it again and again. Amazing one!
This is still the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
It captivated me as well. A very powerful demonstration of metamorphosis and shifting through the forces.
never alone
poetically perfect
This song still gives me chills
Not music - MAGIC!!!
2021...needed a dose of nostalgia and a shot of euphoria in the membrane.
Those effects can be make with premier?
i love this song
100th Window is one hell of an album. Literally. It's insane and disturbing, even if oneiric and calm, in some way. In a word, trip hop. Maybe their last trip hop album
+Andrea Sollai At one point in my life 100th Window was practically my background music
Good greif, don't make me pull out my 100th Window CD. It's late here.
Yeah true! I was talking about this yesterday with my father.
It's probably not so wide known cause it's pretty similar to Mezzanine, which is more iconic IMO.
Orlando Cainelli
100th window never come close to the sound of Mezzanine. It's a dope album too but doesn't sound to any massive attack album released.
It's basically a robert del naja solo project with Neil davidge. Mushroom and Daddy G left the group , the backbone of the tracks was played and deconstructed with the help of the group Lupin howl.
Right on
Amazing sound, gives me chills everytime I listen to it.
can only imagine what it must be like to watch this high O____o
CodeDarkBlue oh i have mate.. its epic
CodeDarkBlue I hallucinate with this song indeed, hahaha its dope
Uncle Joe's ***** the original Man of Steel....
+CodeDarkBlue Can only imagine how terrifying and creepy it was for this man to lose his humanity in the matter of minutes turning into some weird moth man. Yet he looks really calm, almost like he does not really care.
I've listened to this song on LSD, best thing I've ever done
MASSIVE ATTACK ja vas VOLIM
that look in his face at the end....so goddamn powerful!
this music travels, and you go with it
was listening to this album ,while sitting on my chair under the shining sun...Massive Attack are an awesome band, but this albu, has something wicked and special ,which transports you in another dimension.......
Way underrated song. One of my favorite tracks.
After all these years i still get goosebumps listening to this masterpiece!
Wow, what music we have...forever grateful!
magical song
pure dark art
One of my favourite Massive Attack videos. Everything about it is epic. I'm in awe.
Another massive classic.
I dont can belive! This is really magic yes! Best of the best!
Tnx. Massive Attack
Robert Del Naja is beautiful
🔥
THATS WHAT IM SAYING ! isn't he just gorgeous ?
Beautiful video and even better spiritual message flowing from it ...
Darkened skin
Afraid to see

Keep smiling for me
Epic song.
The collision of exceptional artistry is a truly transcendent blessing. I miss these days, as the world we once knew is in its final death throes. All we can do is TRULY Pray & try to "Fight the good fight of the faith" against the EVIL until the Inevitable end of the system of things. Sorry for the diatribe. But if I can awaken even 1 soul, it's worth the effort. #Amen #FearNot #Pray #Pinnacle #Artistry #Blessings #Rapture #Woke #Awake
im in love with this man and how he sounds *_*
Very true, I've been going through depression my whole life but when I listen to massive attack: I feel at ease and feel so mellow that it's normal to be so calm. Love the surreal beats
I really enjoy the darkness & melancholy of this track. One of the best
goosebumps all over...love this song
darker than no lights!!
I love the use of symbolism in this music video. It's absolutely beautiful! And the lyrics--they don't seem to make sense...at first. But when you analyze the music video and the lyrics together, you'll find the name of the song and the moth in the music video are not mistakes--but symbols. I think this song is about a loss of innocence and emptiness. It is truly a work of art.
There is no doubt, is a masterpiece. Massive attack do it again.

My song forever!
What a great dark mood - incomparable!
Perfection.
Love this song . And the video .
Perfect combination of darkness , blended into the electronica Wibe . And the violins are beond awe …
I can listen to this for hours …
I love the darkness & the comfort (and the discomfort ) it gives me in a soothing way. Brilliant work
Transmigration of the soul... ancient Mayan thing,
Much perfection
I discovered Neil Davidge through Halo 4 and discovered Massive Attack in turn. His work on the Halo 4 soundtrack draws so much inspiration from his work with Massive Attack.
so super!!!!!
Tüylerim diken diken oluyor bu sarkıyı dinlerken.
😎
they are SOOOO amazing!!
2022 now. Song is ageless.
This video and the song are beautyful.. So calm ..
I was so inspired by this video so I made my friends to paint their faces into butterfly colours and took pictures
that is amazing. I want to do this now
jesus...
your music is so dark and show perfekt, what i think it is about.
The face expression, i wish that sweet Lady who showed me your music can be here, what a present she was...
The best song I' ve ever heard! Love it. It has changed my life...
How change you life ?
Hell, this is one omnipotent song. You can wake up to it, work out, drive, meditate, trip out, have sex and sleep to it... Not that I tried that all, but hey, there's time.
have you had sex to it yet? it's been 10 years, man!
Gotham's latest villain. The Butterfly.
