electronic music is a constantly evolving entity. you want a basis as where it started, go back to the 70's and listen to Kraftwerk. they were the pioneers of modern electronic music. skrillex didn't invent anything. neither did Deadmau5, or Benny Benassi. they just took what was there and, like most artists, made it their own. that's what electronic music is about, right? :)
