    translated from german to english:
    [intro]
Ron: hi, buenos dias, welcome. I hope you are doing well.
    Alvaro: yes, (I‘m doing) great.
Ron: that’s nice. I‘ll start with the first question. Can you remember the first movie you ever saw in the cinema?
Alvaro: yes, of course 100%. The lion king. It was the first time I went to the cinema with my parents. It was fantastic. I later watched the movie many times again at home, 15 or 20 times. It was just like „my“ movie. I have so many good memories of it. And the soundtrack by Elton John, just amazing.
Ron: that’s great, I was also gonna ask what your first Disney movie was but you’ve already answered that. It fits really well, you are a singer and an entertainer and you voice a singer and an entertainer in this movie, Camilo. How much do you have in common with your character or what type of guy is Camilo?
Alvaro: I think this character and I have so much in common. I even had the same kind of curly hair when I was 15 like him [laughs]. It’s really cool that Camilo can shapeshift and when he does so he has to change his voice as well to fit the person. And I love changing my voice and imitating people’s voices so it was a perfect match. When I was fifteen, I also had this funny sense of humor, being silly or cheeky all the time. I loved kind of smuggling my way into situations (which Camilo can do amazingly since he shapeshifts). So yes, it’s a perfect match with the role.
Ron: You’re a Spanish singer and the movie‘s soundtrack, composed by Lin Manuel Miranda of course, is very this very latin, very south american music. How do you identify with the music?
Alvaro: Well, it’s very beautiful. And being Disney, they always choose the most amazing singers who can hit every top note perfectly. I‘m actually a baritone, not a tenor so it was always hard for me to sing along to Disney songs because they were too high for my voice. But it was really fun to do this Disney-theatrical music for the songs. It was a good challenge for me: sometimes there was a part where I would have to change my voice to sound sort of creepy and then change it back to normal and then to creepy again. It was very fun to experiment like that.
Ron: „Encanto“- that‘s the name of the movie. Do you have a way to translate it maybe to non-Spanish speakers regarding this film?
Alvaro: I think „encanto“ comes from „enchanted“ in the english language, it could really also be called „Magía“.Everyone in the family has a gift/ talent or whatever you want to call it and they all use it to build the community. Everyone’s talents compliment each other. Mirabel is the only one who doesn’t have a gift but her real gift is not a talent but her character and her personality. I think that’s the best message you can give in a movie, especially to young kids who haven’t found their hobbies yet, that what matters most is how you treat others, being respectful and that you help people. That’s the most important thing and it is shown in „Encanto“.
Ron: We‘re already at the end of the interview, thank you Alvaro. Great movie, great job and I wish you the best.
Alvaro: Thank you, have a nice day.
