We have two, Cohen 8, and Hallie 9. Hallie is like Leeloo and pics hers snuggle times, but they are very much enjoyed. Cohen on the other hand needs constant contact. He's always the first in bed every evening and he "nests down" in my pillow before I come to bed to warm it for me. The he curls up next to me when I crawl in the sack. They're truly my best mates. Thanks for sharing Leeloo's escapades with the rest of us.

My BT Rosie is the same, she's nearly 15 now and still doesn't like to be cuddled. but she does like being patted

Dottie was a wee cuddler but Mac is like Leeloo: he comes up when he’s good and ready!(they are so cute when they’re zonked out next to their packleader:)

Thank you so much for sharing this sweet and special moment. My BT is 2 years old now and has always pushed herself on us for cuddle/nap times, but it’s always on her terms haha! They’re such funny little creatures with loads of personality. Warm regards to Leeloo and her family :)

What a wonderful experience. She is an independent BT - as most are - and moments like this are to be savoured. I agree, in my experience they show their affection in other unexpected ways. Thanks for sharing such a special time. Linda and Grace ❤️❤️❤️

Our BT is totally spoiled and asks to be held/cuddled all the time. Each night, as I finish washing up in the kitchen, I join my family in the living room for the evening television. Our BT insists on sitting next to me on the sofa each time. But she has a funny habit where she always waits until I finally get seated with a glass of water, the remote, a blanket, etc., and then just as I get comfortable, she sits on the floor in front of me…just out of reach. Every night, I must get up and follow her around the coffee table. Only then am I permitted to pick her up and put her on the seat beside me. And no, she will not jump up on the sofa-she demands the chase around the table each night, and won’t stop crying until she gets it. But then when I sit down for the second time, she sits right up against me for the remainder of the evening. But, of course, not until she lets out a long, dramatic sigh over the slowness of the service she received. 😂

I totally agree. When mine comes in for a snuggle, I cherish every minute. I respect his space and whilst he likes being in the same room or even on the sofa with me, it does not often go beyond that. They are a very special dog that show their affection in their own quirky little ways

I love many things about border terriers but their independence makes them extra special.

My border terrier loved his cuddles and would come and ask to be up beside you. Miss you forever, Rrnie Rip

Our Monty is 5 months old. This is my first dog. I’m not sure if he is a cuddle type or not. He slept in his crate at the moment but he like sleep in quiet place (kitchen). If we walked in the kitchen he will immediately wake up and not sleep at all. So in order to let him to have plenty of sleep he needed we have to stay outside the kitchen until he wakes up. In the evening obviously this is not much a problem as we are in the living room or bedroom upstairs. I’m not sure if this meant to be like this due to his age and he will gradually grown out of it or we should train him to get used to sleep in the noisy area.

Usually dogs tend to sleep anywhere and everywhere. I would carry on with your routine otherwise it will become his routine, and he isn't the boss. If he is tired he will sleep.
Mind you, we said Leeloo will never sleep with us and that lasted about 4 months.

My parents first border was very much independent and was bit of a grouch but could be lovable on occasion but their second border is completely different and likes cuddles and constant attention
