I didn't play him much at C0 but his melt team should be quite good at C0 as well and eventually you can get him to C1 after which run him Solo / Duo / Melt / Hyper / Freeze etc. however you like!
As someone who has both Ayaka and Wrio at c0 r1. I'd say both of them have a different playstyle and depends on your preference. For me I really like the na ca playstyle of wrio and I completely stopped using Ayaka when I got him. The burst reliant playstyle is just not for me. Just keep in mind that Ayaak c0 is still stronger than Wrio c0.

For me yes you can use ayaka with frizze and wrio with melt
