- The 631bhp Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT has set a new precedent on the road for high-riding high performance SUVs, so Steve Sutcliffe hit the track to find out how that translates on track, and to see how it stacks up against more conventional performance cars on our Bedford Autodrome Leaderboard.

Wicked machine, Porsche's engineers are borderline magicians!
A large SUV should not be within a second of the GT4 on your track. Absolutely incredible feat of engineering from the chaps in the GT department at Porsche!
Being that close to a Cayman GT4, a car *designed* for track use, this thing is mental!
BLOWN AWAY by how flat that thing stays around a corner. So composed and smooth I had to shake my head and remember Steve was chucking around a massive SUV. Great job as always, Steve (and Porsche)!
just imagine a Macan Turbo GT
1:26 that is voodoo from Porsche engineers
Ha! Reminds me of my two Corrados.
after he mentioned RS Q8 i closed the video right away😂😂
and in the video at minute 1:30 the RS Q8 shows up xD
I always thought high performance SUV's were fundamentally ridiculous machines vs performance sedans, but this is the one I'd actually buy
No, you were right the first time. :)
They are indeed and always will be
@@Rezcuz lol mr macho masculine agressive bellend over here.
There’s definitely a compromise- weight, dynamics from the height/ground clearance. But I feel the same way about convertibles. There, you add weight, typically in bad areas, and gain only, what? A sunburned head? With a performance SUV you get most of the performance but some real world usability. Extra ground clearance is nice for speed bumps, steep driveways, etc. And I hate having squat down into tiny cars.
@@Rezcuz no lol because you felt the need to repsond like an absolute child.
nice piece eventhough im not a fan of suvs
This will smoke and handle far better than most sports cars, even some super cars.
Torque in Nm too please.
850 nm
@@GeneralAumSum07 Yes, I know. But would be nice to not have to look it up or calculate it myself.
Track limits Steve, track limits
Good option for a getaway car.
It's interesting to see what engineers can accomplish while still making it perform well as a road car. Still an utterly pointless machine😅 but never the less very impressive
Taking absolutely nothing away from Porsche, but that thing looks like a nightmare to control, because that was a proper wretched hotlap.
Is this technically a GT product?
its the same question thats asked about the Urus...Is that technically a Lambo product?
No the GT department wasn't really involved with this
Yes, they GT dept DID tweak the engine contrary to what some believe.
😭😭
Not needed, but still impressive.
Would always prefer a Panamera
Don't be afraid of it drive that lap again! I could run my 60ctts around there faster then that! 😝
Looks like hippos can dance after all.
Still looks like boat 🛥
Porsche GT product - there is nothing more to say.
IDK why this vehicle exists
Because it will sell … pretty simple
So many cooler options at that price point
Its a Audi q7/q8.
Not even close…
Just imagine how fast it would be if it was a car
Waiting for the 992 GT2 RS🤯
It is a car
@@GeneralAumSum07 he means a non suv car, it would be interesting if panamera got the same treatment.
A taycan turbo s would be as fast as a saloon version of the cayenne gt
And there lies the issue I have with suvs, they are slower than the equivalent saloon or sports car because they are bigger and heavier and most can’t even go off road, so what really is the point in them.
An SUV that lifts it's inner back wheel. Well I am amazed to be honest. Not my cup of tea, but I really appreaciate the engineering behind the whole thing.
The best and only coupe SUV that I liked and yes it flies
FIA have just reviewed this and deleted the lap times for track limits. 5 second penalty to Verstappen.
an suv that i might just actually buy if i had the money for it. except for the vulgar urus and the frankly ugly bmws i'm thinking that a practical but also fun and luxurious suv that i can put the tools and the dog is an increasingly attractive prospect. maybe a fast estate still makes more sense but i don't think petrolheads should have as much hate for these things as they do.
The majority of them don’t know shit about cars and are understandably jealous they will never be able to buy or drive one.
More from Steve Sutcliff please.
Faster than a Giulia QV, goddam that thing can dance.
1:26 That flexing rear wheel though! O.o
Reminds me of kart racing days
Macan Turbo GT with same motor please
The haters will hate but as an owner of a V8 diesel Cayenne that has adequate power and 850nm of torque I know that these cars are a great driving and ownership experience.
Friend of mine had the panamera with that engine, huge torque
The way it lifted the driver's side rear tire in that corner shows how stiff the car is and amazing the suspension is.
Not sure if super impressed by the Cayenne GT or quite unimpressed with the GT4...
I find the lower-adaptive rear spoiler a bit weird. There is a spoiler at the top of the rear window that as far as I know diffuses the air to avoid collecting dust and dirt (cancels or lowers the vortex). So what kind of air is being used there?
The upper spoiler might be directing air towards the lower one in the case of this fastback configuration.
Looks like a coffee tray
Looks to me that the roof spoiler is just there to redirect the airflow towards the rear spoiler (like vortex generators) and thus increasing downforce produced by it
@@heamees4822 The top window rear spoilers are to keep dust and dirty out of the rear window by making a vortex. It's totally pointless to redirect a very turbulent air to the rear spoiler.
There must be something else.
Incredible, but awful.
The first time out in a Cayenne Turbo S way back when was a shock, doing over 100mph on a dirt track in Dubai. Bigger shock was being driven around the Dubai Autodrome circuit in a Cayenne S by a young German rally driver, apparently hired by Porsche to scare the living daylights out of prospective buyers.........I would love to drive the one being tested here myself, amazing machine looks like........great video and report Steve, thank you
Faster then a Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, wauw.
In 2021... Why???
To me it seems like its niche is like the niche dinosaurs occupied at the end of the Jurassic period.
Impressive engineering but the concept of such a large mass capable of such performance just doesn't work for me. Normal SUVs achieve little aside from clogging up roads outside schools so I'm not sure what these mega performance ones add? Clogging up roads outside private schools I guess.
To get you down the autobahn quick so you can go skiing sooner.
How is that different from a sedan or minivan?
something wrong with the sound? I have to turn it all the way up to hear this :(
Id love to see a back to back with this and the x6m comp
A FUgly-off.
The X6 would be annihilated
@@napalmhotdog4365 I think fs around a track.
Why would you be flinging an suv around like that!!!????? Wouldnt you have kids or dogs or stuff 😂
There is talk of a Honda Jazz ‘ Max ‘ edition to rival the GR Yaris 😂
Nothing but respect to the Porsche engineers who fine tuned this thing, however I still think it's hideous. Would love to see something with a RS6 design with Porsche underpinnings 😌
This piggy probably shreds a set of tires in two laps. Impressive time though.
Whenever I see the leader board on these evo videos I'm shocked how slow the mk3 focus RS was.
Hang on... correct me if I am wrong but isn't the 718 GT$ RS faster?
It seems to be the heavier a Porsche gets the faster it goes 😂
Looks like a shoe...goes like stink !
Niiiiceeee
i stopped the video @ "I love the way it looks"....
When I saw the car/bus involved, I thought I wouldn't enjoy the video. I' have no interest in it, Nada, not one drop, but then, of course, I see Steve is driving and ...well you know the rest. Super enjoyable after all :)
Oh, is that a wing, I thought the tail gate was open.
Camera from interier like
Stupidly overpriced
More Steve please! Cheers from Italy!
Park that boat at the docks.
Track limits....?
Terrible ugly car.
One that you’ll never be able to drive and experience
Al these massive shitboxes look the same
Jealous crybaby
... but it sounds like a Dyson.
It does not.
@@rcrr It does too.
Stop calling it an SUV, it’s a lifted hot hatch
They can call it whatever they want
Now I can get rear ended by a distracted driver at an even higher speed.
even if this thing would be faster than a 911 i would NEVER drive something like this. it‘s absolutely hideous
What do you drive?
@@MaxLiva real cars.
@@South4153 “real cars” 😂🤡
@@MaxLiva why does is matter what i drive kid?
what do YOU drive?
@Bernie Sanders Lmao
It's like watching a pig in a tutu dancing.
You're not sure what's more remarkable; the tutu or the dancing.
Best vehicle for a wife to go shopping.
I want to meet the person who goes to a Porsche dealership looks at the 911, Cayman and Taycan but puts the money on this powerpuff machine 🤣
Typically, the Cayenne owner already owns another Porsche. They decided to buid the Cayenne when they noticed most 911 owners also had a BMW X5.
A powderpuff machine that will smoke nearly all sports and many super cars
Great and we need and wish videos in Real Best 4K 60fps HDR resolution clarity quality soon please and Sound in full HD 3D Stereo Surround,
Really don't like how the exhausts and the lowest part of the rear bumper look :/
Next time: hot laps on pigs... please do us a favour and don't give us this rubbish. I don't care how quick this abnormality is. Same for electro rubbish. Stick with the horses please
