Moog Mother-32 + Mutable Instruments Warps | and some thoughts about Mavis

- Mavis has been on all significant UA-cam channels last week and I've been super impressed by the sounds coming from this little DIY starter synth. I really felt the 'gear aquisition syndrome' hitting hard. But I already own tons of modules, so I wanted to take good old Mother-32, hook it up with Warps and see how 'westcoast' it can get. I decided to skip Mavis and go for the Subharmonicon instead (coming soon) because it's very different from anything I know.
But it was tough (I had it in my shopping cart), because Mavis can add a lot to a bare table, and even more to an existing Moog 60 HP tableltop set. It's a really clever design. To give you and impression I hooked up the M-32 to 0-Coast, the 'other' tabletop westcoast starter synth from MakeNoise. I still think I'd get a Mavis when the hype is over because it adds a lot to the classic Mother and vice versa.
I love “you can do this with what you’ve already got” videos - great one!
I really felt the need for that because I can't just keep buying stuff. This is still a hobby. If it becomes work, I'll stop immediately.
I appreciate hearing that too, because I can replicate this with my Behringer Crave and MSW Twist! Not that it will stop me buying more gear though…
Nice. Thanks for your effort, I believe my top 2 synth channel deserves ten times more subscribers.
Wow. After all these years, someone finally makes sounds with a Mother-32 that intrigues me. :)
I truly believe this MakeNoise stuff makes you think out of the box and 'escape' the design specs of the Mother-32. What I do isn't special, I just walk every 'path' I can think of. 0-coast has been such an eye opener for me when I realized every circuit makes sound. This works for any eurorack module - to a certain extend.
Some fantastic patches in this one. I really need to spend more time with my Mother, and probably my mom also. ✌🏻
Beautiful! :-) & interesting sound & video composition !
Great demo ✌🏽
Bro this is how you mother-32 👌🏼
Terrific video-LOVE the sounds at the end with M32 & 0-coast. How did you connect them--is that some sort of patch bay in a line between them? I'd love to see a patching video to understand how. you connected them because WOW do they sound good together!
What did you end up deciding? Was Warps a good supplement for Mavis or was it not enough? Did you think the 0-Coast was good supplement? I'm close to Make Noise and Moog too. I was so sad when Moog sold to InMusic. And of course the hurricane. Do do you think Warps can replace the Mavis? Thanks in advance for any information you can give me!
I couldn't resist and got a Mavis. I only used it once so no, not a good investment (for me). The 0-Coast is a GREAT addition to the M32. I don't think Warps could 'replace' a Mavis because it's not a full voice, but if I had to do this video again I'd still get Warps instead of Mavis.

@@CinematicLaboratory Thank you! I purchased all the other Moog semi-modular synths, except for the Mavis and Spectravox. So, in the long run, especially for you, Warps is more worth the price and combination?
Get the Subharmonicon: it’s a one-of-kind instrument. I’m looking forward to see and hear how it’ll sound in your system!
Just recorded over 30 minutes of stuff. It's a semi modular which means it's designed to work on it's own as well as in a bigger system. So I added the Shared System, Desmodus, QPAS and Mimeophon. OMG...
@@CinematicLaboratory So you've got a SBH? It's amazing with Desmodus, QPAS and Mimeophon or even some nice granular modules.
@@geusensdriesmusic Yes, it arrived today :).
You guys a excellent musicians , aswell as good reviewers !
Thank you! BTW, this is a one man shop :)
I came to check out if the warps would turn my Behringer model D into a Frankenmoog. Now I want the 0-coast too. Not helpful 😂
Robert I thought u are in The Hague, Netherlands so didn’t understand short drive to Nashville?????
Anyway can’t afford any of Moog gear but I would choose a Bastl Softpop2 over Mavis as Softpop let’s u process an External Audio in to mix and Softpop has lots of inputs, outputs but just my personal choice
Another great Tutorial anyway, long May u continue
👍🆒🎶🎶🎶🌟🌟🌟🇬🇧🔱🥂🥂
Sorry for the confusion! From Moog HQ to MakeNoise is a short drive :)
😂 searched for this comment.
I like the way you say : I will buy a sub:-)
Everyone on UA-cam got the Moog Mavis for free, so their videos are not trustworthy. I trust your judgement that I don’t need one because I already have too much gear 😅
