    Great job in the Sierra so far, I hope there is a zero or two in the near future in Mammoth or Bishop. I see so many hiker's getting burned out in the Sierra's. I think you cannot simply tough it out from end to end of the Sierra's. However, I know you guys(Hammerwood, Wedding planner(I mean fire ball), and the rest of your Sierra company will take full advantage of the breaks.

    Great effort today. We had lots of snow and rock scrambling on the north side of Mather Pass last year in early August. Much of trails that were flowing creeks, tremendous amounts of blow downs in the Palisade Basin below the Golden Staircase. Not sure if it was a wind storm or an avalanche. Rain most days at anytime. You all had it much harder than us. Enjoy Bishop. 🍺🍺🍺

    Hi Lil'Chap I notice in this video That when you finished the pass your garmin read 3:33. These "angel number often tie into your walk thru life or possible what is in front of you .One of the meanings is "The angel number 333 can have multiple meanings, including:
    Success
    It can indicate that you are on the right path to success and that you should trust your skills and intuition to help you reach your goals. It can also be a reminder that you have what it takes to succeed, even when you are feeling stressed or confused.

    Unfortunately I'm sure you found snow at the top of Bishop, and perhaps a somewhat sketchy descent if you stayed on trail. Despite the substantial challenges, I love that y'all never lost sight of the true wonder out there. Count me as one who never tires of you noting the beauty. [Warning, humble brag ahead: I've done a 16 day, as well as several 7+ day food carries in the High Sierra, and the Range of Light is worth every hardship. And if you get off the PCT/JMT corridor there is plenty of solitude to soak up too.]
    What part(s) have enjoyed most thus far?

    Does going days without a fresh green vegetable create any GI issues for you or others in your group? I wonder if living on protein, freeze-dried meals and high carb processed food has an adverse effect?

    • @lilchaphikes
      @lilchaphikes  2 місяці тому +2

      The opposite actually. It seems the “issues” begin once we get to town and start eating veggies.
      This is a short term observation. Certainly fresh greens and needed!

    Were the others going to try and continue on and not do the Bishop Pass and Paiute Canyon work-around?

    • @lilchaphikes
      @lilchaphikes  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, they resupplied at Kearsarge Pass and did the Skurka “up and over” route to go around the bridge. Most people did that option as it was only 3ish miles.

  • @Yetithruhikes
    @Yetithruhikes 2 місяці тому +1

    From looking at the footage of your tramily hiking up and down from the pass, I think it is important to tell you that you should rethink the way you hike in alpine. You do not use an ice axe AND a trekking pole at the same time. You have no chance of self arresting like that if needed. This takes away the whole point of using an ice axe. Also going down from the pass. It's just plain wrong.
    With Mather pass, you had a clear and easy rock scrable to the left of the cornice to go up. Nothing even technical. You chose to go tackle the cornice directly and with an ice axe/trekking pole combo. That was a bad call. I'm glad of course that you made it safely.
    What I'm trying to get to is, you should work on your skills. You got a good area to do so, the Sierra Nevada, which are quite easy this time of year. Especially where the PCT goes through.
    Enjoy your time there. It's magical.
