Sounds... pretty unique. It gives a very different vibe from the original song, but honestly, it's something I really like! I love remixes I can listen when I want a different spin on the original song.
This isn't a bad use of soundfonts, but anyone who thinks this is as accurate as, say, Ghost Town from Sonic Forces are deeply mistaken. While yes, the soundfonts are a compilation of real recorded Sega Genesis sounds, they don't play the same way as real hardware or proper YM2612/SN76496 emulation. Also, reverb is impossible on a Sega Genesis, and instruments can only be played in mono or entirely on one (left/right) speaker. Try the Genny VST, if you haven't already.
Modern VSTs cannot be recreated on a Genesis, but a more primitive type of reverb can be done on a Genesis the same way as any other multi-voice synthesizer: by playing a note two in two different channels at slightly different times. Even the original Sonic games, which are by no means technical marvels in the "music programming" department, did it frequently.
Reverb/echo is possible. You make the echo manually by playing the same note many times and spaced, getting less loud with each repeat. Even the old Sonic games did it.

please dont call your remix a genesis remix if it wouldnt even work on a genesis you used soundfonts. and theres lots of reverb. the genesis could do none of those things.
@@famgamescreation I'd take Pro Tools synths over poory-sampled Genesis soundfonts any day. Plus Jun actually did use real samples for some of the songs. The menu theme and both acts of Press Factory are almost entirely authentic.
