This demo is the most basic kind of sequencer I could think of. If you wanted different note lengths, or tempo that shifts around, this might not be the best approach. I've made sequencers before where each note had it's own timing, essentially making a string of delays, where each note receives a bang from the previous note and triggers the next note after some delay. This way each note can have different lengths. However, this way has the downside of being hard to control or synch up with other sequences. One thought would be to have a master tempo that can be shifted faster or slower by the notes themselves. Or maybe you simply meant how to make one note play longer in the sequence? Sequencers can be done in so many ways, and are fun to build.
