- A first look at my newly acquired Ibanez AZ! This is the AZ224F model in Brown Topaz finish. It has the Seymour Duncan Hyperion pickups that were designed especially for the AZ line and switching options that make it a very versatile 'Super Strat' style guitar.

Dang the dynamix switch is much more usable than I anticipated!!! You really do well at showing the capabilities.
Congrats! Sounds very nice indeed.
Cheers Jim 👍
Sounds great man! That little whammy bar dip just before the fade out from the intro track was pure filth, loved it 😆 Kinda wish I'd bought the other AZ Badlands had in...
😂 Cheers dude! Has it definitely gone? 😉
@@DanLeggatt almost definitely not, which is why I mustn’t go and check 😂
Can I still get this guitar in the market?
I do have the same thoughts about this guitar, but right now it's very hard to get one on a acceptable price....CORONA SUCKS, man!!!
Excellent video, thanks a lot.
Cheers from germany!
Couldn’t agree with you more on that mate! Thanks for watching 👍
nice Dan. Never really been into Ibanez guitars although always liked the Artist. At the minute I am trying ti get the cash together for one of the Suhrs or a Gibson ES-335. Althought hat said when the guitar shops are open I think I'll give the Ibanez a go as I have never even thought about picking one up to try out.. really like the finish on that one Cheers
I’ve been craving a Suhr for some time, it’s just the bank balance seems to disagree 😂 These Ibanez AZ’s are definitely worth checking out as a wallet friendly alternative.
Please help to do a comparison video with this with FGN . Thanks
Will see what I can do 👍
@@DanLeggatt looking forward to it. Thank you!
I wish there was one of these that had Strat pickups. Prefer them for funk.
But need the genius tone switching, without the Hyperions
How much are these?
Depends where you live in the world. This was £650 used.
@@DanLeggatt London. Will see if I can find one on gumtree.
Hmmmm Pretty guitar in all areas .... looking forward to hearing more.
Can I still get this guitar in the market?
Really interesting and honest ! Thanks !
"Who needs to pay the mortgage anyway" LOL mate I had GAS for that model a while back, you have stoked it again... dang. :)
🤣🤣
HI Dan, great Guitar, great playing, great sounds. Just had my covid jab and feel SH** so this really cheered me up. Since when did you do George Benson lol.
Ah sorry to hear that man! I can do a very poor GB impression when the mood strikes 😂
Hey Dan!
Do you sitll have this guitar?
Any new thoughts on it....?
CHEERS.
I actually don’t have it anymore. I moved it on just before I picked up the Suhr. The Ibanez was a great guitar for the money but I didn’t personally bond with it. I favoured my FGN Odyssey. Probably more down to familiarity with the FGN on my part. The Ibanez has a pretty chunky neck.
Beautiful guitar . A f strat only wishes to ever become half as good . My old RG is still awesome today .
It’s a cracking guitar for the cash.
Love your playing. Smooth as silk. Got an iceberg blue one coming in the mail. So excited. Awesome video and playing!
Very cool of you to say, thank you! Enjoy the new guitar 👍
Such flame. Many lick. Very lovely
Thanks dude!
Lovely looking and sounding guitar and cracking playing as ever man
Thanks duder! 👌
Please do a comparison video between your FGN and this. :)
Unfortunately I sold the AZ a while ago
@@DanLeggatt Can you put into words why you prefer the FGN? Is it because the one you sold those Hyperion pickups have a weird artificial tone on them? It's very "particular". Jack of all trades master of none? The switching is genius, just needs better sounding pickups, maybe this guitar, less hot, I'd pay a lot of money for.
Well played Sir!
Cheers 👊
Got that model guitar. It's fantastic. You sound a lot better than I do on mine though! The neck surprised me with how chunky it is, and that bridge HB is beefy. Congratulations on the new acquisition!
Cheers! How long have you had yours? How’s your tuning stability?
@@DanLeggatt tbh, mine needed a bit of lubrication at the nut for it to settle when I first set it up. It still comes back out of tune very occasionally when using the trem, so my next step will be a bit of filing at the nut. I'm not a gigging or professional musician, so if I were I would have sorted it way before now.
@@DanLeggatt I've had it about a year. BTW, I didn't mean to imply that gigging and professional musicians are different things. They're not. I was just stressing that I am an average, bedroom guitarist. I also agree with you on the switching - I hardly use the second bank. It's a great guitar. Ibanez did well with these, though I wish there was a HSH option
Hey, we're guitar twins! Really like mine, and the price didn't kill me!
Ohhhh friend 👍😂 Did you go for the black ice one? How’s the tuning stability on yours?
@@DanLeggatt lol, fwiend! Yes mate, if honest I think the available colours are a big draw back for these. The black ice was (for me) the most appealing. Mine definitely needed some tweaks, the intonation was way out and took days to adjust and settle in, but... It's been 100% tip top ever since. Don't have m/any Issues with the tuning, but I use 9's, might help with the nut (I'm no expert)?
