In this post, I want to point out that after the 1st Anglo-Burmese war (1824-1826 AD), lower Burma (Mawlamyine and surrounding area; excluding Yangon), Tanintharyi Region, Rakhine Region fell into the British hand. Just 100 years earlier, in 1874, Bodawpaya invaded Rakhine successfully. Bodawpaya made the lives of Muslims in Rakhine miserable. (Background Note: In ancient time, Rakhine Region was a part of Bengal region and was a part of Maurya Empire. Rakhine region is separated from Burma by Rakhine Yoma, also known as the Arakan Mountains. Wesali Kingdom also spelled Vaisali Kingdom was founded by Hindu Chandra Dynasty. Before 8th century AD, North Arkansas had been the seat of Hindu dynasties whose were upholders of Buddhism and they built many pagodas. In 788 AD, a new dynasty, also known as the Chandras, founded the city of Wesali. Anyway, the city of Wesali became a noted trade port to which as many as a thousand ships came every year. In 10th century AD, a Burman tribe settled in Rakhine region. Earlier inhabitants of Rakhine were people who were similar to the population in Bengal. These inhabitants were Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims.) So, in 1784 AD, when Bodawpaya invaded Rakhine and made the lives of Muslims in Rakhine miserable, causing many of the Muslims fto flee to Chittagong. When Rakhine region fell to the British after the 1st Anglo-Burmese in 1826, these Muslims (the children of them) came back to their birth places in Rakhine. To refer to them as Bengalis foreigners because they came (actually came back) to Rakhine region during British Era is inaccurate historically.
Thanks for your two cents. Bengali may have lived in that part of Burma, in that time around. But that didn't make them that they were one of the natives or ethnics of Burma. Supposed you were a Bengali, and you and all your one million villagers move to England tomorrow and start living there from 2020. And a thousand years from now, in year 3020, after 10 to 12 generations of continuous living in England, you would think, you belong to England. But the TRUTH is you are still Bengali native, an ethnic form Bangladesh, even though your children, Grand children were born in England. You may have earned CITIZEN of England but your race, in this case (Bengali), STILL DON'T BELONG to England. That is the FACT. And you implied that Rakhine region was once part of India. And don't forget, Chittagong territory in Bangladesh, was once controlled by Burmese Kings. Please make a note that Burmese Kings authority had reached way passed Rakhine and deep inside the Bangladesh in those days. It was normal for Kingdoms with small and weak armies were frequently and attacked and controlled by Kingdoms with better and bigger armies. That was History. Rakhine is inside of Burma now and belong in Burma. There is no argument to be about Rakhine. One thing we can all argue today is that Pakistan and Bangladesh were once part of India. The problem with Bengali Rohingya, is that, their homeland country, Bangladesh is too poor and too much population. If their homeland country Bangladesh is a Rich, Developed and had less population, Do you think any of those Bengali Rohingya will cross the border and live inside Burma. In Modern day, we all know, these Bengalis burned and destroyed Buddhist and Hindu temples and properties in Chittagong and ruthlessly killing, torturing, beating, raping and forcing to convert children and natives into Muslims.They have done it with the support of Bangladesh Government. I have news papers clips and pictures to proof it. So when you say, Muslims lives were miserable then, I now say Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and Non-Muslims lives are miserable under Bangladesh NOW. They are doing the Ethnic Cleansing and the BBC and Al Jazeera were silent. They only get LOUD, when Muslims lives are miserable.
