Great review Bakhtawar and I appreciated what you said about whatever fiction might be about it has to seem real, that definitely made me think.

Thanks so much 😊 yes I really believe that, because when you think of the greats, their works of fiction changed the mindsets of generations, they became more real than life itself.

Got a few point which I noticed while reading this novel.
    1. How individuals are radicalised and the politics of hate is entrenched in mind of people by the social spheres around.
    1. How human behaviour and outlook is shaped by people with whom one has direct or indirect acquaintance.
How women bodies have been sexualised and represented through stereotypical specific gender roles.
How the self-righteous religious bigots have drowned the lives of teenagers or youngsters, who are at that particular age vary curious about the tidings of the happenings of different things.

I think you have made some excellent points. You're absolutely right that it is societal inequalities that fuel radicalisation, because a void is left in the provision of education, basic healthcare and other rights in large segments of the population.

Imposing review ma'am. Keep it up. I've just finished the novel and came to search Bhutto's view about her work, but your review came up on top. Really exciting!!👍👍

I agree, that even if it’s fiction it has to feel real. But thanks for the detailed review, i DNFed this after 20 pages 😅

Liked the review, but don't you think the simple language did justice given the background and types of characters? Like a good flowery or inspiring language won't go well with the teenagers who are immature and kind of rebellious.

It would have been a bit convenient for people with less mobility, if we have privileged with a buying link.
So a less mobile reader listening to your channel; if convinced, or get infatuated with the book, could buy it with a simple click.

Whenever I want to buy a title and can't go to a bookstore I usually go to Readings.com.pk or libertybooks.com and check if they have what I'm looking for, sometimes they do sometimes they don't. I have sometimes gotten books from small websites or insta pages but there's usually problematic service. Hope that helps.

That is a very interesting point you have mentioned, I think the simplicity of her language renders her work less impressive but there is something to be said about the fact that perhaps the novel is meant for a younger or teenage audience, although that hasn't been made clear anywhere that it's YA fiction etc so I guess we'll never know.
Thank you for watching and commenting 😊
