whenever I hear yuzuru talking about how passionate he is about skating, when I realize how he puts his heart and everything he can in it, I cry. it really makes me so emotional to see someone so dedicated. I don't think I have ever seen someone as polite, grateful, wise and authentic as him. in my eyes he is the greatest person to look up to, you can learn so much from him. he is the best person in the world to have as a role model.
What strikes me about Yuzuru is that he literally lives and breathes the sport. It's very obvious he loves it. I have never seen any athlete dedicate so much time and effort to their craft than him which is what makes him the best. He has sacrificed everything for his skating and everything he does is to make himself better at his sport. Isn't his university major even just to help him understand skating that much more? I think that is why he has achieved so much in his career. Where other skaters have more of a life outside skating I think Yuzuru 100% dedicates his time to skating. Not many are willing to make that sacrifice.
Yuzuru has given me a courage to live and a hope that efforts could make your a better person, no matter what. I am a cancer survivor and also I am a survivor from the 7.9 magnitude earthquake. So his courageous challenges are always the inspiration and motivation for me.
He is not just an athlete, he is Yuzu.. inspiring, the epitomy of humanity. His achievements are a given. When you are born to be that once in a lifetime gift to some, your medal status is irrelevant. We are just priviledged to see Yuzu who is able to share his gift through figure skating.
There are many world champions, there are many Olympics gold medalists, but there is only one Yuzuru Hanyu who is totally on a different level ! He is way beyond gold medalists ! He has been and always will be the king of kings and the GOAT in figure skating field !

I´ve seen a lot of people saying that even with this loss Yuzu is still the best, and though I share the sentiment i can´t help but disagree a little bit. To me, his greatness shone even more brightly especifically because of how he lost, especially because he fell on the axel and because he popped the sal. The streghth it must've taken to keep his cool and pull himself together after so many misfortunes, and still present a clean short after. The fact that he didn't withdraw after the injury and not only performed but did the best try of a quad axel in history ON A BUSTED ANKLE. I can't imagine how hard it was for him to finish those skates. Though the experience of watching the Olympics live wasn't really enjoyable and I felt a lot of pain for him, the biggest thing that i am taking from this experience is respect and total admiration for Yuzuru's drive, corauge and pride. Of course I felt them before, but everytime he continues to step up to the challenge and go further little by little I can´t help but marvel and wonder how did we get so lucky that we are allowed to watch. Truly, the greatest of all time.
He is the GOAT not only because she achieved the most but because he inspired the most. He reminds me of an old Chinese saying: 勇者无惧，仁者无敌。(The brave has nothing to fear, and the kind has no enemy.)
Thank you Yuzuru Hanyu for giving humanity the one thing it could not live without, HOPE. On the official Olympic channel? Just saw a drone show, which prohected only three athletes' faces. Can't identify the other two, but Yuzuru was right up there. Supporters lining up cheering for Yuzuru, outside the arena. Trending at the top of social media. Yuzuru plastered all over Chinese media. Encouraging, loving, concerned messages in Comments Sections, in different languages, from supporters around the globe. The list goes on.
I don't understand why you keep stressing this non podium thing. It is inferring the word "loser". It's not like he was 10th or 12th place. He was fourth, right up there with the best of the best because he is best of the best. Yes, of course the journalists all wanted interviews with him. Why would they not? Why would that surprise anyone? He's Mr. Figure Skating after all. You make it sound like he's so much less now "non podium". Why? Do you think less of him because he didn't get a third OGM and do you not think two OGM are sufficient achievement to ensure his relevance? I don't understand why you think he should be "honored" anymore now than he was two weeks ago to be so pursued by the press. Nothing really has changed. He hasn't changed. I don't think OP is looking down on Yuzu at all, instead I think they're pointing out that Yuzu truly is the GOAT since no other current athlete could possibly unite the hearts of so many people in this manner.

Like they are throwing him a bone even though he lost and didn't make podium and he should be extra grateful for that beyond his already gracious and respectful way of being which is the point of irritation. That HE should feel honored that people still care. It came across to me as he should appreciate still having the interest of reporters and journalists even though he through a series of circumstances beyond his control, f'ed up and didn't make podium as though that would be reason to kick him to the curb which I guess for other skaters it would be reason to lose interest in them. I don't know. Maybe it's an over reaction. That's just how I took it.

I've always thought figure skating was so boring. But I loved other winter games. 2018 I happened to see his program while waiting on the next games, and then I thought what in the actual fcuk? It was so beautiful. He moved on that ice so beautifully I thought I've never seen something so elegantly executed ever. Literally one of those moments when the world around me kinda paused and I was just enthralled with his performance. I couldn't pull my eyes away, and ever since then I've been mad in love with him. I don't know if I'll ever get to see someone else skate more beautifully than him in our lifetime. So glad we're the same age too! Haha💕
I just met him a few hours ago but I already love him as if I had known him for a long time, you really feel the passion with which he skates and transmits emotion to you, he is the best skater i have ever seen in my life
You just made me cry, it can spend50 years but each presentation of Yuzuru will remain in my heart, he's simply unique and no one else will be able to overcome him!!!!, seeing each presentation over and over again it excites me like the first time
I have always knew abt him since last time but having watched the the Winter Olympics made me want to rewatch all of his programs. It’s been 10 years and this man never fails to mesmerize. He has grown over the years, his skills, his physique and even his artistry interpretation have improved. Quoting from a commentator during a recent interview, he is the luminary in figure skating👏🏻

i know he's a grown ass senior athlete with a doctor and team. so whatever I'm saying is just as a fan. I can't help but be worried about him. I think skating right now is definitely cheering him up, and I know he spoke about this also, but I'm still so worried about his ankle. I hope he can rest after the gala. I also really hope he goes back to tcc because I think being with Brian and Tracy and training with his friends and stuff would take so much load and pressure off him. I really really hope he does. I'm not trying to say I'm right or he should definitely do this, like I said he's the goat and I barely understand the rules of figure skating lol. I'm just worried about him that's all 💙

I can't help but be worried about him. I think skating right now is definitely cheering him up, and I know he spoke about this also, but I'm still so worried about his ankle. I hope he can rest after the gala.
I also really hope he goes back to tcc because I think being with Brian and Tracy and training with his friends and stuff would take so much load and pressure off him. I really really hope he does.
I'm not trying to say I'm right or he should definitely do this, like I said he's the goat and I barely understand the rules of figure skating lol. I'm just worried about him that's all 💙
