Love Matlock Bath, walked along there several times myself, and with my kids, love the rock formations on that side too, and view from top edge is amazing!
I started to walk this in the summer once. A very firm grip on the hand rail and very wobbly legs. No way would I go along there in icy conditions. Made my head spin looking down on to the A6 and the tiny house below. it was only seconded by my dog walking right up to the edge of the Tor, nearby to here and looking over, I don't know how he felt but it made my head spin and I was not the one looking over. lol
It's above the cable car base station, the cable car is to the left as you look down, although not running this time of year, and crosses valley to heights of Abraham, which is where there are show caves and caverns, and many attractions! It's actually Matlock Bath, if you ever get the chance to visit it's beautiful, there are amazing rock formations that you can explore on the same side, and view from the top is breathtaking!👍✌
@@norfolknchance.500 I've been going to Matlock Bath for decades and it's usually full of motorcyclists at the weekends and summer evenings. Parking is a nightmare. Not being a fan of heights, never been on Giddy Edge itself, but have walked along the cliff tops. The views from atop Black Rocks in Cromford are even better.
I think it may not have been all that long at all if it were glacial meltwater after the end of the final ice age? Or maybe it was the ice that carved it not the river?

Been going there since I was a kid. Now I'm mid fifties, I still like it there. The views from up top are spectacular. Always worth a visit and the steep climb. Some nice waymarked trails up there too.
@@Jimyjames73 I have walked it, really wouldn't have thought it a good idea to cycle as its pretty narrow and quite lumpy. Its not terribly long anyway - maybe 30metres?
Hi Ant, looks even more spectacular without the vegetation. Thank you.
Fancy carrying a piano all the way up there!!!!
I'd demand danger money for that.
😳
Bravo though
Cracking tune.
👌😄
Be careful on that icy trail. See you on the next. Cheers Ant! ❤😊
You are braver than me sir!
Love Matlock some stunning walks.
A good video of Giddy Edge in the Ice - Matlock💛💛💛💛
47 seconds..... That location looks good enough for 47 minutes..... What an amazing walk. Well back to work for me.

Was that snow on the path? Giddy it certainly made me feel!
Crazy....but cool. Nice one.
What a view, sets the pulse racing.

Cheers Ant for that short and I bet that you held on tightly to the handrail!
I had to watch again to see the handrail! ☺️
Looks lovely Ant,but looks a bit icy on that path,🤔⛄️ xx
Great views but rather scary Ant. You very brave.
Oo had me a heart in my mouth moment then 😳 Stunning view though 👍
WOW!! You've got to tell us the story of that path, it's amazing 😁

Used to get stoned up there as a kid 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂
impressive!
I could never have done that i would be afraid of slipping on the ice and it looks a long way down 🤔
Wow that’s a bit scary I’d break my neck 😱
Just thinking here: How many hundreds of thousands of years did it take the River Derwent to carve out that beautiful valley???
I think it may not have been all that long at all if it were glacial meltwater after the end of the final ice age? Or maybe it was the ice that carved it not the river?
That's a long way down and you'd not get me anywhere near it.
In the Ice Ant... Phew
The bonny glen of Matlock...God save her.
Matlock Bath*, just so people don't go to the wrong place. 😉

You might want to invest in some crampons.😂
Hi did you get to black rocks near Wirksworth?
Been going there since I was a kid. Now I'm mid fifties, I still like it there. The views from up top are spectacular. Always worth a visit and the steep climb. Some nice waymarked trails up there too.
Hmmm - I do like Cycling on my Mountain Bike, but I'm not too sure about this path??? 🤔🚲🚂🚂🚂
not a good idea - what if you meet people coming the other way?
@@jimg9820 Hiya - that is why I said I'm not too sure - looks a bit scary!!! 😉🚂🚂🚂

Nice place, not that dangerous, good handrail. Did you walk down the rock chasm afterwards?
Not that dangerous ok you do it put a video up on ya UA-cam channel He’s hardly going to walk down the chasm in icy conditions 🙄
I have many times, love it up there, but always wanted to go deeper into chasms through that little locked gate! Haha! 👍✌
@@Oddly1970 The chasms are safe as houses, narrow and soil on the floor, can't come to any harm, plus sheltered, so little if any ice there!
Now look Ant, it was bad enough the last time you went, 48 seconds was far too long😵😵💫🤢🤮!!!!!
🤢
