True that, in one of his interviews he did say that he misses took all his money off him and invested it - behind every Porsche there is a strong woman - you can see the memories he is accessing and this is good to see - big up Nigel and all those who were at the London Arena in Docklands where a legend was created
Nigel Benn is a British legend not just a boxing legend. He’s a former Soldier (Fusiliiers), world class sportsman, and has an amazing personality. Why hasn’t he been knighted??? Sir Nigel Benn has a cool ring to it 😅
I had the pleasure of Meeting Nigel Before The Watson Fight at the central pub in the gym above I was only about 10 as I unknownly stood next to him I asked him what's going on he said Nigel benn is here getting wayed in for his fight I asked him who is Nigel benn he replied me and you can do me a favour go outside and look after my car that white Porsche I did and when I finished he dropped me home and gave me a £10 .. I never forgot that Nigel and I was a fan ever since that day . I can't believe you got it back it looks amazing
That’s crazy ! I met Chris ubank on a plane to Singapore in his heyday and got a singed photo but my biggest claim to fame is I shook hands with Larry Grayson outside allders in Eltham when I was about same age as you 😂
Back in 1992 I think the year was I was working for the Royal Mail in London driving down East End near bow flyover, and I saw Nigel he had a Porsche convertible reg Benn958 I was in a post office van and pulled up to the traffic lights along side him, he was with his friend. And I asked him "Nigel when are you going to fight Eubanks, and he said, "Dunno mate he won't fight me!" Nigel always had the time to talk to his fans like they was a mate. Great Champ.
Boxing is a great sport, it takes young people off the streets and gives them a sense of self respect. You only respect others if you respect yourself first. Nice to see Nigel looking so fit and well and enjoying life.
Brilliant to see a man so happy with what his lifes work has allowed him to have! I've got a 116i on a stage one, spent about £8k on mine and love it, all fully paid and I know it's nothing to this but having a car you love is really a great thing.
I come out of Legends one night in London W1, pulled up at the lights and who pulls up next to me? Ol Nige in that car, never forget that and just been reminded :)
Was talking about this car only the other week on Pistonheads. Iconic car from my youth in Lewisham. Nige… you made a young lad smile from ear to ear every time I saw that beast drive up Lee High Road ❤
And I was just thurther up the road at Yorkshire grey roundabout, unfortunately I never saw him and we was always playing football on the green Opposite the pub ( McDonald’s now) ….remember shapes gym ? Bet he went there !?
Great to see him reunited with his old car you can see he's flooded with so many happy memories and all coming back to him. And he is happy.. Worked the hard years in the ring
Nigel Benn, a British Boxing Legend and all round top man and personal hero of mine. Would love to meet him one day but probably never will. I still watch his fights today.
Glad to see him happy and what a great job on the restoration. Met Nigel in Lanzarote once when he was training for the Piper fight. Asked for a photo and he was as good as gold!
I remember 1992 Chelsea Bridge pub it was a Sunday night, and Nigel was DJing in the back room. I remember him pulling his record boxes out of that same Porsche 959 we had been Ministry of Sound then onto the elephant and Castle Pub in the precinct, then on to Chelsea Bridge pub 💪🏼💪🏼
I remember seeing Nigel after one of his epic fights in an older 911 (that was white too, I think...). He still had the band aids on his cuts from the fight the night before. I used to work in Cranbrook Rd, Ilford and Nigel came over Ilford Hill where the Station is into Cranbrook Rd with the roof down. What entertainment those middleweights of that time gave us. Good to see Nigel looking well.
I had this stored in my garden for 2 years for the previous owner , it was beyond . We called it the flintstone car as you could stand on the ground through the footwell Great to see it finally restored ! It was worth it for Nigel as it’s clearly sentimental
NICE TO SEE YOU ARE DOING WELL NIGLE . WE DID THE SOUND FOR YOU AT RACHEL'S BACK IN THE DAY . HOPE YOU AND THE FAMILY ARE DOING GOOD . AND KEEP CLEAN . OK . ALL THE BEST LAD .
In 1998/99 this car was in auto stitch in aberbargoed South Wales having a new roof at the same time I was having a new roof on my XR3i convertible ! The reg plate was NB 1
I saw him in this car on Shoreditch High St with the roof down many many years ago, always remembered it! Was the fighter that got me into boxing - hope he enjoys it, well done D911!!
What made me laugh was when the mechanic said, “if your going to do a job, you got to do it properly”. Nigel had that attitude all the way through his fighting career ! 🥊 Powell !
He admitted he looked scruffy and the amount of times that salesman would have been told that, that day alone would be loads so I don't knock him for that! That's Nigel's ego talking there
Soon as video started 1st thing i thought was didn't know Porsche made a convertible 959 so Nigels is the only 1..Is it known if Nigel ever had a BEN private plate on the car. Back in 04 i went out to Majorca to see a friend who lived there & remember saying to my mate im sure ive just seen Nigel Ben in a Porsche convertible think the plate was something like N7BEN my mate said it was Nigel he lives here at the time. If it wasn't the car it was certainly a 911 convertible.
I was working in East London in the early 80s, a group of us in a pizza shop on the A13 I think, when Nigel Benn pulled up in a Porsche , could it be this one? With a Hot lady in the car I remember, when he heard our Geordie accent he asked if he could pay for our food, I stupidly declined, he went on to explain he was in the Army with a lot of Geordies and loved them, he looked cool as, been a fan ever since, enjoy Nigel….
In the late 80's and early 90's Nigel used to live on altmore Ave in East Ham, I used to see nigel had around 4 motors near his gaff, he had a 911 turbo, an e30 OG M3 left-hand drive, a range rover and a Bentley or roller. He would wash his motors during the summers with sponge and bucket. Me and my mates would stand and chat to him but even then he was intimidating to talk to, didn't conversate too much but was cordial nonetheless. He was our legend.
@@TheCinderellaman10 Thanks, the year would of been 1985/88, I think it was a white 911, he was certainly happy and full of confidence I’m sure he said he boxed in the army.
Sorry for the lighting, it was a very quick setup and wanted to capture Nigel's genuine first reaction (the garage was really dark too!). Thanks for your support on the video we're glad you enjoyed it!
i met nigel ben in 1994 and i saw him in a 959 but im sure it used to be blue? it was at night so maybe i remember wrong.he was at the university of hertfordshire in hatfield.he was a special guest.he was the DJ at the students bar that night
I was at his last fight in Manchester a young Naz was on the bill and Ronald winky Wright. when Nigel retired in the ring, he threw his gloves into the crowd and I jumped up and got my hand on it as it went over my head, when I turned around a boy about ten years old right behind me caught it. Often think about that.
Great looking car, I own one in white that’s a coupe, (tin top) based on an 80’s 911. With a 959 reg plate with it. Had it sat in my garage 13 years, I should get mine resurrected or sell it, I shudder to think what the bill for the work done on Nigels car has come too…
Americans - “let’s take one of the greatest performance cars of all time and drain it of its performance” I take it Nigel had nothing to do with that? Absolutely criminal! But nonetheless I’m pleased to see it shining.
As he was talking should have done visuals of the car. Would have been nice that. We saw more of Nigel than the car. Shame really but good documentation nevertheless. Stories are and will always forever be priceless.
So basically its a 959 replica? I was under the impression from the vid that Nigel bought a new 959 in the States back in 1990/91. Then had it professionally converted to an open top straight after.
I was with Nigel on Saturday. Such a genuine nice guy, British icon and true legend of boxing
Great to see Nigel enjoying life with the money he made as a fighter. What a legend.
True that, in one of his interviews he did say that he misses took all his money off him and invested it - behind every Porsche there is a strong woman - you can see the memories he is accessing and this is good to see - big up Nigel and all those who were at the London Arena in Docklands where a legend was created

Wow 959, amazing and brand new, wow.
Nigel was a unique guy, the fact that he owns a 959 soft top is very fitting!
Nigel used to walk past me occasionally when my Nan lived in East Ham, he always said hello. Legend

I grew up local to him. Would often see him in Asda 😂
Glad he’s well and living his best life.
Boxing will never replicate the Nigel Benn days.
Glad to see him happy and what a great job on the restoration. Met Nigel in Lanzarote once when he was training for the Piper fight. Asked for a photo and he was as good as gold!
Met Nigel twice once with that same Porsche in Lewisham and once at courts in Catford great dude
Legend fo real 👍🏾
Lovely work, big old workshop. ❤
This is so cool. Well done, guys. It's great to see Mr Benn enjoying this car after everything he's done for the boxing world.
I’m sad to say i never knew this amazing car existed… always loved the 959
Beautiful work & amazing to see Nigel so happy… amazing work
Nigel looks like he’s slowing up a bit with speech and movement. But he was the man in the 90s absolute warrior. Total legend
Yeah he does it's sad to see
he is 60 years old mate, still looks in fine shape considered.
As it has been with so many before him and since, boxing certainly didn't do his brain much good.
Great stuff! Iconic car, legendary boxer
How he deserves it, after what he did for british boxing. Proper fighter, real legend.

Nigel Benn we salute you, what a cracking car
What a beautiful car I don’t think I’ve seen a convertible 959 before must be worth a few quid
You can see the years in boxing took from him, slow speech shuffle walking! 😢
What a legend still in better shape than most retired boxers
Had the pleasure of watching the progress of this car 👌
big up the dark destroyer.. a true warrior.. legend
Beautiful job on a beautiful car. Many congratulations Nigel. God bless.
I saw him in this car on Shoreditch High St with the roof down many many years ago, always remembered it! Was the fighter that got me into boxing - hope he enjoys it, well done D911!!
I saw it outside the House & Garage record shop in Roman Road. Two young lads were sneering at it saying it looks like it's painted with spunk!
Nigel is looking good man ❤
Met nigel on a trip to euro disney ,at the airport on the way back , had a chat and pics ,absaloute gentleman❤
Nice to see you benn ,LEGEND ❤
What made me laugh was when the mechanic said, “if your going to do a job, you got to do it properly”. Nigel had that attitude all the way through his fighting career ! 🥊 Powell !
His face when he sees the engine, wonderful....& to the sales man all those years ago.....Never judge.....
He admitted he looked scruffy and the amount of times that salesman would have been told that, that day alone would be loads so I don't knock him for that! That's Nigel's ego talking there
Great respect for Mr Nigel Benn I'm not gay but love him
It is ok if u are gay.
😂
2 Legends together
The dark destroyer made the middleweight division his own , explosive fighter , never missed a single fight.
Always be a legend in my eyes kidda good luck
The Ghostbusters car causally chilling in the background
Nigel was in the same bar as me eating a burger!... a couple of weeks back in Bang Saray, Thailand, I believe he was doing a meet and greet nearby.
My child hood dream car was the 959
More humble than Conor!
Good luck 👍 with her nigel I hope you have many happy hours behind the wheel she looks stunning 😍 ❤😊

This car was made in 1990 so you must of been dreaming
@@jaybee8128 He’s owned 3 Porches so not this one but one of the other 2.
...plus Nigel wouldn't have probably been driving around in a porsche in the early 80's. He was probably still in the army or in the amateur ranks.

Nice job, is that a ROVER P5 in old English White sitting next to the porsche ?
I'm 60 seconds in and this is a really great video. I hope the lighting of the shots gets better. So much effort has clearly gone into this.
