I wanted to work for a gc as a super in infrastructure. Fortunately/unfortunately I studied civil engineering. Structural analysis was fun once I learned it but I unfortunately feel like most of my college experience was a wasted endeavor for what I needed in my career. It was good though for learning how to think and problem solve.
I just finished my 3rd year of civil engineering. Your videos are the most helpful channel about structural engineering I have ever seen so far. Please keep going. Very good luck to you.
I'm in my 3rd year of civil Engineering. (I'm about to finish...I'll be writing my 2nd semester exams in two weeks time 😅) Ur videos are really inspiring. I plan to become a structural engineer as well. It seems so fun and hard at the same time.... That's y I love it😭😂🤝 *Subscribed ❤️*

I used to do structural engineering in my country (Nicaragua) and usually put a lot of effort into the details having drafters to help me expedite the projects, and then I came to US and found out how poor the structural plans are here, such a lack of passion I have seen so far this last year...

Hey Beng, I love your content. I'm a first year mechanical engineering student, who would love to work in the civil engineering sector btu they don't have it at my school. Is it possible to become a structural engineer with a mechanical background? Your videos have helped me a lot in deciding my interests!!!
I would say it’s possible but I think you would need to do a structural engineering masters. How else would you learn structural design principles and procedures ?
Hey! In engineering, do we still get to make designs(/learn how to do so) like in architecture? If not, should I get a degree in engineering and a master in architecture for the more design + art part? I’m very new to all of this so tysm for the video!! Helped a lot.
Thanks for reminding me of my professional career for over 3 years as a engineer role special in dealing with structural discipline. I was as a junior year in working a lot and so confused what I was in my position. Civil engineer and structural engineer are having multi-similarity
Sometimes it’s just one and sometimes its multiple. As projects go through different stages of the design they stop and start a bit and so that no time is wasted you often can work on a other projects to fill that time.
Halo Mr Ben, i am Adrianus from Indonesia. May i ask you something ? On your design project, how big is the value of the MEP load on the building that ussually you use on it ? (MEP load on departement store building, office building, hospital building, and residental building)
Good explanation. I would also pick up the design contribution of connections by the fabricator , specialist contractors for specialist areas and the temporary works specialist. I would also reflect the importance of multi-d coordination, risk and assumption management and integration. I have been doing this for 43 years since by masters and retiring this year. Love this work, I would do it all again if I could.
Hey Beng, I just found your videos and are really incredible. They helped me so much, so THANK YOU. I wanted to ask you one thing, do you know if companies have more preference for engineers than capable architects? Im just finishing architecture and i really liked structures subjects but im worried that for this kind of jobs they would choose an engineering firstly.
My pleasure, I’m glad you are enjoying my videos! I’m not sure if this is the same where you live but in Australia only people with engineering degrees work as engineers. Architecture degrees in Australia cover completely different content and would not prepare you to work in structural engineering. Perhaps this is different where you live or you could complete a masters in engineering?
Hi there, I have just wrapped up my B.E. Civil Engineering. Now I wanna continue my education in structure Engineering. But for I have approximately 6 months to apply in any University. Please guide me what should I do in these months so that It will boost my career.
Hey congrats on finishing your bachelors! I think the best way to continue your education while you’re not at university is to get an internship. While you are looking, work on some personal projects, keep doing your study and try and expand your skills. Perhaps you could learn how a new software works. Hope this helps :)
thanks for this video. I am a student major in civil engineering from China and I want to go abroad for further study. Your videos helps me a lot in learning professional English words.
I hope to become an engineer myself, but studying is really really hard. I'm more interested about energy and stuff (I'm enrolled in a energy engineering university course), but your videos are super interesting.
Sir I have completed my graduation in civil engineering 2023 but i want to work as a structural engineer. Is there any possibility to work under you? I am from India
Subscribed! Brother Beng as a student going for structural engineering, what kind of job should I be looking into if possible to start gaining experience? And or programs? Thanks!
Welcome! I would suggest contacting small structural engineering companies in your area. This is where you will get the most exposure and experience. For the programs you should start learning, I would suggest you find out what’s popular locally. The easiest way to do this is to search for structural engineering jobs on LinkedIn and look in the skills section of the job description and see what programs they are wanting applicants to know. Hope this helps :)

Don’t give the architect too much credit. Non-building structures don’t require the involvement of the architect.

Is structural design majoring profitable?
What is the most popular and profitable field designing steel structures or concrete structures?

Geeking out right now. I really want to become a civil engineer! I'm a Junior in High School, love what you do. Keep it up man!

How long do engineers do all those things for a certain project?
It really depends on the size of the project. For a big multi-storey building it could be months and for a residential house it could be a week :)
@@BEngHielscher may I also ask do structural engineers work on one project at a time or multiple?
Sometimes it’s just one and sometimes its multiple. As projects go through different stages of the design they stop and start a bit and so that no time is wasted you often can work on a other projects to fill that time.
What software for design and analysis are you using on MaacOS ?
All the engineering design and analysis software I use is used on windows laptop :)
Really nice Video . very easy to understand the process. Now my team will fully understand building process .
Thank you!
I would be really surprised if you had a colour red on the top of that building from thumbnail. 🤔😂✌️
