- With the 2022 rockfish season ending 12/31/22 this was my last try for a keeper lingcod from boat for awhile. I first dropped some conical hoop nets for dungeness crab, while those were soaking, we went to the rocks for rockfish and lingcod. The conditions in Bodega Bay located in Northern California were beautiful. The crab and fish were hungry feeding between storms. Check out how the day went...

Yeah after the sad story of Will not making it back in. That was an eye opener to everyone we need to be more safe out there. Over the course of my videos I sometimes have one on and sometimes not. Thinking back, it doesn't seem so much of a conscious decision to not wear it, just not thinking about it. After the recent tragedy it is on my mind like everyone else, I got my portable water proof radio attached to mine and ready for the next trip and I told myself your stupid to not have this on everytime you go solo. So thats the plan moving forward.

I was just at bodega bay some interesting charter names. Beautiful views the small farms on the way back to lagunitas brewery there in Petaluma. I’m definitely bringing tackle with me next time

I think I have ond more Dungeness and a Rock left in the freezer. I may be able to get to the coast for another trip or two? Until then I'll keep watching you!

Chris, in addition to using a pfd on solo trips like some of these other comments are saying, I would suggest one other thing. Please use your gaff when pulling up your nets. Doesn't matter how close your boat is to the water. One slip, and you'll be swimming for your life chasing your boat.

Chris. Try putting some scent on your swimbaits. I use a product called HOT SAUCE. . Never fish my plastics without it. Works DINO. On the bass, halibut, and seabass down here in SO CAL. Try it. You'll definitely see an improvement in your bites, and you're fish count. Tight lines. SCOTT. !!

Hey Chris, you can’t use a game fish for bait, you can get cited for that, I know from first hand expierence, got ticketed for over my limit with lingcod as I was using old carcasses for bait for crab in half moon bay, as we were fishing for more lings.

Crab season coming, you still recommend these Promar XL HD's? Or is there something newer/better? Gonna be my first time crabbing so there's a lot to learn, rules, spots, trap/rope sizes, rope lengths, etc. I need a whole lesson from you just to get started lol

Hi Alonso. The software is Wondershare Filmora. They have music on there. Music is tough. You can get license free from youtube or the editing software. You can find free unlicensed music on random websites but over time most those become copyright and you need to go back and change it out. Hope that helps, chris

The best hoop nets are from promar. I would look at the links I have in the description. "traps" are still closed this season. just drop the pots on sand, not rocks. Move them until you find them. Good luck
