Yes it is completely Safe. I booked a cab from a travel agency and name is given in the description. I booked the cab over the phone and it picked us up from the airport and dropped us back after 4 days. We spent 1 night in Pahalgam, 1 in Srinagar and then last in Gulmarg Cost of hotels vary. In pahalgam you can find a good one under Rs 1500. In Srinagar You can get a hotel starting from 1000 And in gulmarg it is a little expensive. You can find a decent place in 2k
Is this in Kashmir valley which wants independence from India ?? Which parts of J&K are most pro independence ?? Because in news it is said that for every 10 kashmiri, there is 1 police / military person to suppress the movement, so this place must be heavily guarded

You missed one point "arru valley".... Its just 15 km from Pahalgam..You should have visited and stayed fr a night over there also.
