- In this video I explain how clouds are formed and the three main different cloud types, what they look like and how to identify them. I also examine how we can make combinations of cloud types using words like Nimbus and Alto. This is needed for IGCSE/GCSE Geography and generally interesting if you want to understand how the weather work.

Very informative video. Water vapour also condenses from land and not just water bodies. Land often retains more heat than large bodies of water, which in turn creates a less stable atmosphere and alot of rain bearing clouds.

My question is - what makes the cumulous/cumulonimbus clouds move like a blooming balloon at the same spot ? - as shown in first few seconds of this video - is it pressure/temperature change?

I have a question.. I watched several videos ,now, the videos that I watch said that cirrus clouds are an indication that is going to rain within 24 hours, however your video states that there's really no warning of rain in the near future when we see cirrus clouds and I agree with you.. so why would the other video say that it's an indication it's going to rain within 24 hours ? You know that they are spraying the skies and I believe that's why they said it . because after you see those stringy little clouds that were formed by exhaus and God only knows what coming out of jet engines It does rain within 24 hours , because they've planned it ! but I can't believe there telling people this now it's just amazing to me... am I wrong ,, not about the Spayring because a lot of people don't agree with me about that but about the cirrus clouds are not in indication that is going to rain within 24 hours, that's not true right ?
Wow, I am not sure what to answer here. Sometimes they say that Cirrus clouds can be a precursor to rain because they can form at the beginning of a depression. So basically it depends why they have formed and what is happening on the weather map. I hope this helps.
@@GeographerOnline I thought I made my question pretty clear but now your saying that it can be a precursor to the weather changing to rain because in your video it stated that its indication of fair weather with no precipitation . You may want to change your video, I just never heard the weather man say today the conditions are going to be just right to the contrails in the sky
@@GeographerOnline Well then I guess you had better mention that on your video , You state that it is an indication of fair weather with no indication of rain. The other videos say the complete opposite saying they are an indication that it will rain in 24 hours. I never heard that before and that sounds insane. I take it you didn't like my spraying comment. Well that would be the only way that someone could predict rain within hours of it happening , at least from a hairlike cirrus cloud formation.I'm thinking that people just don't look up anymore. Where I live the there is only one type of plane that leaves these contrails that never dissipate and they spread out miles wide and join with the others and completely wipe out the beautiful sunny day. I forgot to mention that this happen every 2nd sunny day and the planes are not supposed to be in this airspace unless they are landing or taking off and the only way they could possibly land at that altitude would be to go straight down..
