Thx dude. The chipmunks joke was gold
Thank you so much, I just received a new boombox and started playing cassettes and they went way too fast. I fixed it using this method. Eventhough for a boombox it most of the times doesn’t stay consistent I can’t hear the wrong speed anymore 🥰🥰
I used to have a turntable with such a screwdriver driven system to change the speed, it is horrible tbh, but for a cassettedeck it is perfect.
Thank you so much for making this so simple and straightforward! I will give this a try, my boombox has the exact same problem; everything sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks
Best of luck 👍.
@@kingkobina oh boy I’m in for a treat... no matter where I turn this small screw, it still sounds like chipmunks. But I noticed if I slightly press on the entire motor then it comes close to sounding alright. Interesting...
Make sure your actually set the screwdriver in the slot. It could be that the screwdriver is not in the right place
@@kingkobina yup, it’s set in there and I feel it when I turn the screw all the way to the right and left, so it’s good and I’ve got the right bit size on my screwdriver. Maybe something is blown inside the motor, but then wouldn’t the motor stop working altogether! Hmmm oh well I’ll keep poking at it. Thanks so much! 👍
I'm thinking maybe something is else is wrong. Some radios can be adjusted from an external access point. Check if you have that if not maybe something else is wrong. Wish you the best
I really needed this. Just restored my 1993 boom box and had the same problem. Thank you very much.
Boom Box! Wish I kept mine from back on the days 👍
@@kingkobina just bought one at the local thrift shop 😂 10 bucks worth about 50 or more for that moddle same issue
You are the best man
I fix it in one minute after your vid. Thanks
I have a feeling that the boombox we bought from ReTails always plays cassette tapes in PAL speed. I remedy this issue with Audacity whenever I digitize the cassettes.
Timing it is a real PITA, I feel like there should be an app or something that could just do it for me, but the best I could find is there's a bunch of different manual BPM and metronome apps out there that kind of help. You can look up the precise BPM of most songs.
thanks for the shout out
My walkman and radio play other cassettes and it sounds fine, but a certain artist’s sounds high pitched, different from the original and 3x faster
It could also be a faulty pinch roller not aligning properly with the capstan.
Thanks!!!
Question, I have a similar issue but It doesn't seem that there is a clear screw on the motor, there is an indented circle on it and when i push my screw driver in it looks like a little flap of a door, i have a hard time going through it, any way i can maybe fix it? It's a teac w600r
Did you tweak it to the left? Or to the right? 😭
Wow this was so helpful! Thank you so much!
Thanks man. I knew it was possible. I didn't have access to the motor but I started sticking the screwdriver in various conspicuous holes. One was the right one.
Well thank God you didnt blow up! 😀😀😀
thank you for sharing this ❤❤
I hope this tutorial helps cuz I'm tired of listening to nightcore heavy metal 😭🙏
Does this work with all devices that play cassettes?
It should
Jusko po. Tunog Chipmunks.
Hi please help !!! My daughters 2005 sony model no HCD-NE3 mini stereo system cassette belt broke detoriated in shipping .it basicly melted so i couldnt use the belt.tonfind correct size and couldnt find any belts for.this specific model . So we were forced to buy a big multi pack and now.it plays too fast even after adjusting it.. HELP .. if belt is too.tight or.loose will that cause it to play faster then alvin and the chipmunks speed.lol ... could the motor be bad .no matter how much we adjust it stays lighting fast
Im thinking you routed the belt wrong. You might be missing a pulley. Thats all I can think of...
@@kingkobina oh man there is like a little spinny black piece the size of one of those screwdrivers next too smaller white upper.pulley. man I will try. If u solve this for.ke.i gotta buy u a 6 pack ...its the fact I'm trying to show my daughter amd her lack od confience she can do anything ... heck shes taken over amd took it apart a.few.times and she discovered.how to adjust speed.lol i will try and THANKYOU
OMG just fixed an old TEAC... but why this happens ??? i have 4 tapes... just one of them has an increase on speed!!! 3 other was normal.... and after touching this regulation the bad one is playing fine... AND ALSO the other 3 are ok.... how is possible???
The actual cassette tape could be the problem...... could be damged
Yooo that house track is fire does someone know the song name?
Its off a mix tape. If I find the track ID I will let you know.
I need to know too!
Love tape cassette
I m facing the same problem with my 20 year old Philips walkman..any suggestions guys??
Nice shit
i find that circle thing but it doesn't work , still too fast
Make sure your on the correct motor. Turn very slowly
Also double check to see if you have a radio with an external adjustment hole.
@@kingkobina mine has a rubber cap like something in that hole... I'm I supposed to push screwdriver into that rubber cap and turn it??? It looks like it has a slot for screwdriver on the rubber cap.... What can I do???
When you put the screw driver inside the hole, did you rotate it to adjust the pitch?
Yes there is a slot. You turn it slightly. Very sensitive.
@@kingkobina Ok. Got it. Thanks.
@@kingkobina Wow it works! Thanks for your help.
Yes the onky thing is its very sensitive and your results may vary depending on the type of cassette. Glad it worked out.
My cassette is playing slow, can i fix it like that?
You can try....
Mine is playing too slow
Thats the point of the video......
I know man I was just saying anyways thanks for the video but I have a huge complex JVC 80s ghetto blaster that is different with tons of electronics all around the motor
Like I mentioned in the vid, see if there is an access hole in the front. Some came with that. It's usually close to where you would put in the cassette. Good luck
The radio is a JVC M-70 brother to the best all time ghetto blaster the M-90...I couldn't find a motor like that they were made from 1980-84
@@1977raider Im sure you can fix it but just be patient all those wires and boards look intimidating but just take it slow. Best of luck
mine is broken turning that do nothing
Time to buy new radio 👍
@@kingkobina yeah but where i live this type of radio is complicated to find
Im sure since your on the internet its quite easy to buy one off Ebay 👍
@@kingkobina ebay/online buying in the place of the word isn't practical and to expensive
Sorry to hear that. I 🙏for a miracle for you my friend.
