  • This was 4 days after application!
My front lawn is where I reel mow and keep the HOC anywhere from 3/4" to 1". With this type of turf, its often best to SPOON FEED your lawn. This means you are applying small amounts of fertilizers more frequently (according to what your lawn needs).
In this case, I wanted to give my lawn a little food after beating it up with the grooming, verticutting and sand leveling. I used Ryan Knorr's (Lawn Supply) 18-18-18. I put it down at 4oz/1K square feet. I had a great color response from that small amount of NPK and the top growth was not overwhelming.
Stay tuned for more on this line up.

So at 4oz/1000ft2 that comes out to .045lbs N per 1000ft2. Even for spoon feeding isn't that extremely low? When applying granular, most talk about SF rates at like .25lbs N/1000ft2. Just learning so if I'm missing something please let me know.

How many oz per 1000 did you mix. If I’m trying to do .25lbs of n per 1000 my calculations are coming up with 1.3lbs per 1000 sq ft

1.3lbs/k is correct for the 18-18-18 and wanting .25lbs of N. I went with label rate and did 4-8oz per k. With it being primarily quick release nitrogen, Low amounts of fert more frequently is how I’m using it. Just be sure to water!

@@RootedLawnCo thanks. May try high label rate first and see how it reacts. Overall is it a decent product?

@@Ptro1 I’m super happy with the results. The iron product from lawn supply is great too! They have a solid line up.

@@RootedLawnCo yeah I have that coming also. I think it’s called greenorr. Do you mix them or spray them separate?

Do you plan using the low rate every two weeks for your spoon feeding ?

Yes. I went off a few stat points; weather, growing rates etc to know how much nitrogen I wanted per month/per app… but I did every 2 weeks. Adding a granular is helpful too.
