I just bought the game for this route. I played through a scenario where you operate the class 87 in winter, and man the sense of speed you get in that locomotive is definitely something. Cutting through a blizzard at 100 mph in that train is terrifying.
The rise of Just Trains to become one of the most respected developers in the Train Sim community is incredible. Their earliest TSC routes were pretty shocking in terms of quality, but they kept at it, and improved drastically with each project. And look at them now, putting other devs to shame with their TSW content.
I wouldn't have thought I'll ever buy a TSW route on release but this one really pulled me. Especially that I really liked like the Class 86 and 87 a lot back in TSC. I did get it on the JT's own website though. It's cheaper than on Steam, and yeah, the loyalty points.
This was an instant buy for me. To see old school British Rail 80's Trains and Liveries brought to TSW5 for me was the only thing i ever wanted to see in this game. This is my era anyway and to see the amount of detail and love Just Trains have put into this DLC they have indeed knocked it out of the park. Hands down the best content ever to come to TSW5 as far as i'm concerned. It takes me back to when the world was a much more nicer place to live as the 80's was the best decade imo. The Nostalgia this game creates is worth the asking price. I kid you not, if this was £100 i'd have still bought it, it's that good. Great post to watch and Bravo to Just Trains..I'll be playing this for ages guaranteed! 👋👋👋♥♥♥
Just Trains has really stepped up their game for TSW! I always thought their TSC addons were kind of mixed in terms of quality, though they definitely got better over time, but this is a real new level of detail and atmosphere! I love the inclusion of Express Parcels and Newspaper Vans too. In terms of (probably) good upcoming TSW content, have a look out for TSG's Mittenwaldbahn, set in 1989 and featuring the "German Crocodile" (albeit in service with Austrian Railways in this case), the Rh 1020.
Awesome review and run !, I know Shap, Penrith and Carlisle, all about 30 mins from me, I'm over West Lakes. Cool to hear an American enjoying a British route! :) I will deffo get this route soon. By the way that snack you zoomed in on at the end is a Ronnies Kendal Mint Cake, made in the Lake District. Used by mountaineers who climb Everest.
I lived along this route most of my life and made the journey from Preston to Oxenholme, and from there to Windermere many times, not only that but i also lived in Blackpool so use to do the Blackpool to Preston run as well! I hope someone adds the line from Oxenholme to Windermere as good as this because its one of most scenic sections and also Settle to Carlisle would be fantastic as well!
Just Trains is something else man, they've really done good work recently and are setting the gold standards for TSW content. Soooo happy to see a proper manual again, it's like how they used to be in TSC. Happy to hear the sounds are from AP, I purchased probably more AP content than I should've in TSC, the quality is just so good.
A North American is giving me a tour of my childhood and I'm loving it! Haha 😅 I grew up in Morecambe (I remember depressing Frontierland only too well) and then Preston, in the period of this addon I was railfanning on Preston Station, so this addon and Blackpool Branches are both ridiculously nostalgic. We also went to the Lakes all the time so I know Oxenholme and Windermere well, plus there's a fancy white building on a hill near Lancaster; that's the Ashton Memorial and it's where I got married. In recent years I lived around the corner from Poulton-le-Fylde station on Blackpool North branch, but we've moved away from the area (again) now so this was a nice nostalgia trip - thanks! Yeah, I think I need this addon. By the way, the name of that depot is Carnforth - it became Steamtown around the 70s I think and is now the base for West Coast Railways who operate railtours and rent steamies. I toured the site a couple of years ago, that coaling tower is the last survivor in the country.
Nice video. Really good looking route. Used to work at County Hall in Preston, overlooking the sidings north of the platforms....and I was in Morecambe just last night!
I live in the Lancaster area and also rode the trains many times in the era that this addon is set. That scenery is very accurate. So many landmark buildings, small and large, have been included and with enough custom modelling for them to be recognisable. The layout of the factory on the Lancaster quayside looks correct to my memory. It's now gone of course. I remember catching trains at the old Morecambe station but they moved it up to about where that junction box was as it no longer sees the passenger numbers to warrant it. The old station building is still there though and is home to a pub and an events venue. The jetty behind the Midland hotel used to have ships come in and the trains would roll on and off them. The central pier was elsewhere and may have already burned down by this point. I'm curious to see the Heysham spur and the scenery there as it terminates at a port with 2 nuclear power plants.
Never was that struck on TSW always loved the creativity of TSC and made many routes of long abandonded lines in my area. Was dubios of this, but the way that DTG cleverly allow you TSW5 for free, to then pick aroute you want, seemed a breth of fresh air. Installed TSW5 and after seeing my good friend Richard Armstrong had provided the sound pack for the 87 I jumped in... Bloody hell... what a revalation! Now I'm going to be honest and I still stand by this, JTs TSC stuff was pretty dire... bad transitions in curves terrible track textures and worst of all OHL stantions outside of the lineside fence..did not lead me to expect much, but boy, I'm glad I did buy it, just terrific! Now buying the blackpool branch on offer to layer in with this.
Can't wait for Union Workshop's Tadami Line, they are already one of the highest quality developer for Train Simulator Classic, cannot wait to see how they can bring Tadami line to the next level in train sim world
@Schnauzahpowahz It seems HIS has brought Bozeman Pass to the table, and it has a "Pro Range" label on it. I can't wait to see what the Gordon Ramsay of Train Simulator Classic has to say about this dish.
Can you make your own scenarios in TSW yet? This is the one thing that has stopped me buying it, the best thing about TSC is being able to edit nearly everything.
My one request of TSW6+ is to get a full version of any major route: ECML, WCML, NEC, just pick one and actually build it out. These 1 hour tops routes are getting old, and I want to stretch my legs.
Its a shame the US will never get a good route like this ever for TSW, we don't have any competent dev's that want to do the work (And no, HIS doesn't count)

So Sad 3rd party has to make it just shows how worthless DTG is compared to 3rd party companies. 3rd party companies like this should just make their own game and Stop supplying DTG with one of a kind jems. The issue is licensing is much harder in America. Access to reference material can also be hard if the operators don't cooperate as we have seen with mta and freight
@trainsimulatordriver you're not serious right little to no traffic🤣 London Liverpool Street, which had an estimated 94.5 million passengers enter or exit the station between April 2023 and March 2024 the northeast corner does 800,000 people a day do the math on that it's MORE 🤣 by a considerable amount I get those licensing issues I get that the developers are all in the UK that's fine my argument is they should probably just change the name of the game to UK train Sim
@Savethepandabears our biggest station in little old Melbourne gets out CBD stations got 1.2 million passenger journeys per day pre COVID, only 400k per day now because smart people work from home.
I thought the meaning of using God's name in vain was to commit evil in God's name? I don't think we'll be finding any of that on Schnauzahpowahz's channel, so I'm confused by why you're even here. Maybe you're a bot, idk.
But I thought God loves us and is a forgiving God? My understanding is that you can repent and be forgiven? I mean we have to forgive an interventionist God for completely failing to prevent thousands of years of the appalling human suffering, so he can return the favour if we ask nicely, no?
