@@masterlup It's very hard for DLCW, Lin Dan is far superior player especially in big tournaments. 2016 is the best shot DLCW to win olympic gold but he unfortunately had to face Lin Dan in the semis which is obviously draining his energy a lot and Chen Long totally dominate DLCW in the final in 2 straight games. If Lin Dan and Chen Long play against one another in the semis then maybe DLCW had a chance.
I know this post is too long and no one will read it but, Goh V Shem and Tan W K were one of my favorite double pairs. And I thought the reason they kept losing was because of Goh V shem not being able to keep the ball game flat and always lifts. At least thats what the casters are always saying. And I think that is the reason why Tan decided to end the partnership. I mean I would get frustrated too if my partner refused to work on his weak points. Now it makes a lot of more sense after hearing Goh say, that he used to prefer singles and only changed to doubles because of his knees. his playing style is very singles like. I still hope Goh would work on his flat game and come back with Tan
Goh and Tan is well known for their flat game but the problem is their defense is not strong enough to withstand consecutive attack from opponent. Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Kieat is famous for their defense and they can withstand any attack and Koo Kien keat is very creative and fast at the net whereas Wee Kiong is more like no nonsense type of net player. My opinion is Goh and Tan is having difficulty playing against a fast opponent like Kevin and Gideon but one interesting fact is Goh and Tan had a good record against Endo and Watanabe.
Tan WK was the main point scorer in their most important games. If you watch the 2014 Thomas Cup Finals or 2016 Olympics QF/F, it was TWK that turned the tables

Watching this in slow mo gives us an insight on their different techniques, GVS has his shoulders and torso weight barely following through into the shot. In a way Goh Vy Shem technique share similarity with Fu Haifeng and Tan Boon Heong have a technique looking more close to Yoo Yeong Seong.
Tokyo olympic double gold medalist Wang Chi Lin is one of the strongest smashers in current top badminton stage, guess who his favorite player is... Goh Wei Shem. Not surprised.
