    I don’t think he’s tired of being an artist or performer, he’s tired of the expectations, but mostly, of the industry. He doesn’t wanna let them change who he is and it’s hard to fight the constant wave.

    RM has described how each of the members are so different from one another, looking in different directions. Yet what they have in common is their being together in a "boat in full bloom." Jin has also admitted on a youtube show that one of the reasons BTS is successful as a group is the members' willingness to sublimate personal ambitions for group cohesion. I think the arrival of the pandemic created confusion and frustration to their intended change to solo activities before military enlistment. But the pandemic also led to the BE album and three English language songs that projected them even further into global celebrity status and two Grammy nominations in two years and RM's admission of how he felt he didn't understand the direction of BTS anymore and needed a break.

      he was talking about himself, not the members though, wild flower is a personal song

    21:33 Thank you for your beautiful reaction and empathy. It took months for me to be able to listen to this without a heaviness in my chest and tears...and seeing you react is a mirror for myself. I've been wondering how anyone can react to this song without feeling the same way. I know you're getting there, from where I time stamped this...but such art in the way he repeated the same words from the beginning at the end but just by changing his tone and the images there's so much hope and power. As though, just by admitting where he's at, his "criminal mind", has lifted some of the burden allowing him to move forward.

    In my humbleness, thank you for approaching this as a "poet." You must live as human (long enough) before you can make art.

    Some context for the Wildflower- Flowerworks.
    In many asian languages the term firework literally translates to fire-flower. Namjoon said that BTS are like fireworks. But he wants to be like a wildflower .
    He also wrote in a fancafe letter once about wildflowers in 2017 and said that this was something he had thought about since 2016 and finally got to release a song on this theme.
    "...If my dad told me about the cherry blossoms, my mother told me about the wildflowers seeing that they bloom peacefully,
    telling my dad that's why she liked them. I also like wildflowers but the expression, blooming peacefully from my mom touched me.I think it's a really good expression"
    At the end he says "Maybe rather than fireworks or cherry blossoms, we need wildflowers. The kind that grows peacefully like that"
    Loved your reaction. Hope this tit-bit makes this song even better for you :)

      Sophia makes excellent points. I will add that the Korean words for "fire" and "wild" sound very similar. Also, the full, literal translations for "fire works" and "flower works" are "fire flower play" and "wild flower play." This means his word play is not only cross lexical, but also cross-cultural. A native Korean speaker will know much more though

      not in many asian languages, thats semi racist just so you now. in HANGUL or korean, fire works and flower sound similar and are spelled similarly, this is not true in japanese, mandarin, vietnamese, etc....dont make such blanketed statements holy shit

    • @hd7704
      @hd7704 Рік тому +6

      @@prettymuchbangtan I don't think incorrect information is automatically racist. It depends on the context and intention. In this case, it just looks like Sophia overgeneralized.

    • @girlwhowentbazzinga
      @girlwhowentbazzinga Рік тому +6

      @@prettymuchbangtan uhh it's actually true for Japanese . I used the term fire flower, and in mandarin it's smoke flower/ fire flower for spark. It's not racist. the Korean language evolves from and borrows heavily from the language of its neighbor's because of its history and I just thought it's interesting that this wordplay is not just limited to Korean but other languages as well.
      Also I'm asian ✌️

    I've watched and listened to this song a dozen times, and I swear it guts me every time. It's gorgeous and painful.
    It's so interesting that you mentioned Arson. I would line up Wildflower, Arson, and Interlude: Shadow and say that is the picture that the rap line has painted of their feelings about the rocketship they've been strapped to. I love having those varied perspectives. It's like, Yoongi found fear at the top, Namjoon sadness, and Hobi a sort of frenzied pensiveness. I wish Jin had been able to have a full album, but I adore The Astronaut anyway. I can't wait to see what the maknae line has fir us, and see where Yoongi us now, years after D-2, Shadow, etc.

    AAAAHHHH I can't believe I'm JUST finding this reaction/lyric breakdown 😭😭😭
    I didn't even know a Lyric Bias was a thing and I think that Namjoon is one of mine as well?? AAAAHHHHH 💜
    Your analysis/interpretations were very thought out and made me realize just how long BTS have been artists and how long they've had to hone their craft and their "message." Like?? I legitimately got chills at 11:17 when you brought up the Persona-esque ideas and when you said the lyric "Where's your dream?" called back to "No More Dream" in being the very first thing the audience was asked of BTS. AAAHHHH!! It was like going to listen to a lecture thinking you have a solid interpretation of a piece but then your professor points out something that just Changes Everything™ in the BEST WAY, and you appreciate the artist and their art a whole lot more!!
    There's been such a natural evolution/progression of ideas that have grown with them as artists that is still present in their work, and I really, really loved how you highlighted that.
    Your video also made me realize how AWESOME it would be to have academic courses about BTS? ARMY is so intelligent and creative, I'm sure there'd be many talent/skill to be gained by studying their work on such a close level.
    Thank you for the video!! 💜💜💜

    I think RM has mentioned the order of songs on the album are intentional and almost biographical reflection of his twenties, with this song being the most mournful, but by the end of the album you get the feeling he has processed through this sadness as you listen to the song after Wildflower, No. 2 and the lyrics suggest he is in a better mindset

    I loved your reaction :) Just like you Forever Rain is my favorite RM song, but man this may be right up there too. Such a beautiful song in terms of lyrics, production, visuals, everything. I love that it makes you feel so many emotions at once (something RM's really good at). I've listened to it so many times already!
    I agree with your analysis for sure - him baring all these feelings he's been having about the "engine" of BTS and K-pop. But to me it doesn't necessarily sound like a straight up "goodbye", but more of a shift. It feels like a resolve to focus on what matters and build something fuller beyond all the fame and success. RM has already seen the brightest lights and the highest heights with BTS, so what now? Rather than being a firework that's showy and that burns out quickly (and we know the majority of K-pop groups have short careers), he wants to be a flowerwork/wildflower - it grows peacefully and steadily, and it endures. So the song definitely brought up a lot of complicated emotions, but it felt like a relatively positive resolution to me (or maybe he's constantly still figuring it all out, as is often the case in life).
    You'll definitely enjoy the Indigo Album Magazine Film that just came out! RM goes through the general idea and process of each track, and the artists that he collaborated with are there too. In it he mentions that he's had this idea of "flowerworks" in his mind since 2016, and this song is the most important to him right now 💜

      @kayepopreactions43  Рік тому +5

      If not for that one line about how he's still a hostage of life which I still think may have been the greatest line he's ever written, Wild Flower may have edged out Forever Rain as my favorite, but only just barely. :)
      By the end of the song I think I am inclined to agree with your analysis. And I think there's no question he'll endure. The sheer depth of his lyrics alone will last longer than a lifespan and that decorated with all the other moving pieces that have made his career and BTS's remarkable will continue to have a lasting impact on the world for generations to come, I'm sure. :)
      I am devouring every single thing he's releasing about the album as soon as I can get my hands on it and I love the way he thinks about the album and also how calm and relaxed he seems to be now that it's out here for everyone to enjoy. It seems like he has no regrets and feels at peace and I love seeing him this way! :) A nice contrast to the frantic nervousness of JHope's release! XD Although they were attempting to accomplish extremely different things with their solo albums and I think managed to nail their respective challenges. :)

    “No shame, I’m on my grave”/ I think he was referring to despite they (bts) are on the pinnacle of success/fame they decided to pull the pause button and focus on themselves as individual and he/they are not shame of it despite the action might seems like digging your own grave. Meanwhile, the storm reference in many interviews he said he is in the center of a storm - the success/fame is too massive and he himself do not know how they become this big.

    Hi from NZ thanks Kaye I agree with some things you said, this is definitely a goodbye song, RM said himself it's a farewell to his 20's as he will soon begin his 30's and will begin to navigate through that desert and sea. I also feel like this is his goodbye for now song to ARMY given his military service is coning to, but like you I'm glad he told us "Ah, I'll be back someday!" Re: the balloon (and in line with his tribute to his 20's) I thought that was perhaps also a tribute to their album, "The Most Beautiful Moment In Life" where they wrote "Forever Young" and to a time of the "him" he describes in "Wildflower." This is such a deeply personal, insighful, honest and humbling look into his young life, his journey and his experiences and between his brutal honesty and Cho Youjeen's vocal cry/wail it is both painfully teary and heart piercing with every letter and syllable. What an introduction to the start of his solo career. With JHope, Jin and now RM/Kim Namjoon laying just a portion of their undeniable talent out on the table for all to see, how lucky are we to be in this position and be awaiting the launching of Jimin, Suga, V and JungKook. They have done so much for the music industry and are Korean (Yes) but go well beyond being just KPop artists, they are far more .... they are "artists for healing." I wish them love, luck and every good thing I'm sure I'm not the only one, who will be waiting. ~SaphNZ~

I think it's just that we never really see the darkness until they tell us about it and then we realize there was something more than the good times we were privvy to before.
