Yo man I don’t know what settings you use on your mic or how you edit these videos, but the videos like these just sound SO insanely good. Listening to videos of bass lines rarely feels as good as seeing one live, but you make it sound just as satisfying! Much love! Keep it up!
First of all, these Ludwigs sound awesome. Also, blue fade to black color is the best. This bassline is insane!!!! I love the bass 5 accents when 1-3 are doing their splits.
Who can explain what the top 3 drums split during the tap off around 6:10? At first I thought it was a 2 bugaduhs in a sextuplet rhythm on beat 3 with 2s on the bugaduhs. But now that I listen again I can’t decide... someone help
1 and 3 set up the underlying sextuplets that start on count 3 and end with a shot on the second partial of 4: 11331133(1). 2 plays 8 alternating sextuplet partials underneath that rhythm, splitting it. So overall they play 1212323212123232(1). Crazy!
BASS DRUM GROUP ahhh. A triplet hand to hand, except the “downbeats” of the hand to hand are alternating 2s between 1 and 3? That’s pretty gnarly. Reminds me of that sweet hand to hand played on 2 against all the other drums in Bluecoats’ Zero G from 2017.
I work at a school that warms up very close in timeframe for Chino Hills, so it's impossible for me to get over there in time! Will try in the future though!
Sound balance from this camera is actually nutty. If only these split singles in the top 2 were too... Keep your pinky on the stick there kids, literally every single one of them from 2 decrescendo and slow down. Sick bugaduhs tho
i listen to these while i study and when I saw this i was in shock
Within the first minute I smashed that like button, cause god damn these bass splits are crazy good!
I had to check that the speed was normal

Where’d the crowds from latter years go?
I was there on prelims day, usually a fairly empty lot for most groups. They had a large crowd on finals day though!
BASS DRUM GROUP awesome!
How many more do you have coming?
5 or 6 more! Some of them will only be featured on Instagram so make sure you're following: @bassdrumgroup!

The AudioTechnica AT8024 + some EQ work in Adobe Audition does wonders for sure! Thanks for watching!
I think he's trying to tell one of the best basslines in the world how to play their drums. Weird.
