Thank you so much for this video!!! I was about 10 seconds away from putting this machine BACK in the box & returning it to Costco --- since the instructions were USELESS after I dug the empty box from out of my closet. lol
I watched this video as I was doing a search on what the '3' temperature settings were supposed to be. I've always felt my coffee was 1) bitter and 2) not hot enough. Finding any literature about the 'actual' temperatures attributed to the settings is like searching for the Ark of the Covenant. I ended up doing my own test on the hottest settings and the 'max' I could get (brewing two cups directly in a row) was 172. For a site that claims the internal is 192 a drop of 20 degrees as the water passes through the coffee into a mug seems excessive. Add milk to your coffee and now it's getting to lukewarm. Based on watching your tests, it seemed that the 'temp' buttons are nothing but show - and I'd expect a marked difference when using them. I also noticed your coffee at the end made that 'whoosh' noise (like a Nespresso does at the end of a brew) and mine doesn't really do that. Perhaps I have a defective pump, but all I really wanted was a strong, hot coffee - and for what I paid for the machine I'm disappointed. Your video just clarified my issues aren't one off. Looks like I'm gonna have to pack it up and return it - maybe downgrade to a single cup maker instead. Sometimes all the fancy bells and whistles that come with something aren't worth it. Maybe they should have used the money they paid James Cordon and Reggie Watts on R&D instead to sort out the kinks. ;P

I just bought one of these to replace a 2-year old Keurig that is dribbling when warming water. Luckily I still have that one because the new one would not turn on at all. Called tech support and all they suggested was to try other outlets and make sure a different appliance would turn on when in that outlet. Did all that to no avail. I took it back to the retailer and asked them to plug their replacement one in and show me it was working. They tried that and it also would not turn on, and then the same thing with a second replacement unit! So I took the first one back home and called Keurig again. Again (different person) they required me to follow the same testing steps, and of course nothing helped. So they’ll be sending me a replacement. I don't think that's a good idea. The water reservoir will likely get ruined if milk gets hot and burns from leftover milk deposits that stay in there. I always like to heat my milk in the microwave before pouring coffee or tea. Hope that helps.
Be sure when taking temps that you do not hold the stem. It will read your temp also and it can lower or raise the measured temps accordingly. Also if you’re not sure about how accurate it is make a glass of half water and half ice. The temp should be exactly 32 degrees. If it’s off rotate the faceplate while holding the nut on the back.
Why not brew a hot cup water, let it warm mug then dump and brew coffee if u want hotter , my kuerig elite brews so hot i cant even sip it for 20 min . Course i use yeti 14 oz mug.
It did splatter quite a bit when I used the shorter mug, but the taller mug caught most of the splatter. This is my first Keurig so I can't really compare, but I really appreciate you sharing with everyone. Thanks,
This is my second Keurig Coffee Brewer. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first one lasted 6 years. It worked beautifully until the day it didn't. It was hard to go back to the drip coffee for a couple of days while I waited on my Keurig to get here. There is a huge difference in the taste. Keurig makes a really good cup of coffee. This new one is a little different from my old one. I find putting the water filter in was easier than on the old one. Attaching the water reservoir was also a little different but once I figured it out, it too was easier. This new one has the auto off feature but is not programmable like the old one. Only three cup sizes instead of four. The odd thing for me was how much lighter in weight this one is compared to my old one. More plastic and much less metal in the construction of this one. The price is so much less than the original Keurig that I bought and the coffee tastes the same so all in all I am satisfied.
Thank you for the tests. The hotter the water, more coffee flavor will be extracted from the coffee grounds. It seems that the water in the Keurig does not reach optimum temperature. I will stick to my Cuisinart 12 cup coffee maker, cheaper to buy, cheaper to brew coffee, no plastic pods to go into landfills, and I can brew many more types of coffee that are not available on the Kpods.
@@robstevenson675 That's true, but having to fill the plastic containers and later wash them defeats the purpose of this type of coffee maker "CONVENIENCE ".
@@agm6095 I didn’t say it was more convenient to use the My K-Cup, less in fact, as you point out. But at least I’m not landfilling pods - several billion a year at last count.
@@robstevenson675 Yes less garbage is better. Costco in our area sells a type of K-Pods that instead of a plastic case they are made of a paper filter, so the garbage waste is very minimal. I think the brand is San Francisco Bay Roasting Company and I think they are located in Hayward,Ca. They are also cheaper than the usual KPods.
@Eric Brett That is the benefit of multi-stream vs single stream AND the brewers ability to slow down the flow keeping the coffee and hot water together longer. If you really want to get a buzz use a high caffeine specialty roast in the re-useable K cup maxed out, and then use an 8 oz cup, high strength, and high temp. Don’t do this at night! We preprogram setting 2 for 8 ounces, max temp, high strength. I like youtube reviews on this from a channel known as “Topoffmycoffee” as well.
Is it just me or does anyone else’s coffee taste SUPER SUPER strong with this keurig machine ?🥴 It doesn’t matter if I choose the least amount of strength it still tastes VERY strong, compared to if I use the SAME pods on a different keurig machine it tastes way less strong and it’s enjoyable !
I'm watching this video because I have the exact opposite problem. Our work Supreme Plus on the highest strength makes a nice strong coffee. We bought the same model for our house and on the same settings with the same coffee pods the coffee is weak and watery.
Seems that the extra puncture holes on the cup is what makes the coffee taste stronger. I returned mine before using because I found way too many complaints and the in-cup temperature is also a total deal breaker for me. There are other concerns that made me realize it’s not the coffee maker for me. I opted for another model.
Aww, I'm sorry to hear that, although I have heard Keurig's lifespan is short, but it is so much more user friendly and quiet (So fingers crossed for mine!) Thanks for the comment!
Only lasts about a month so don’t toss your old coffee maker, the box, or the receipts. If you are lucky, Keurig will send another one, but they will take their sweet time doing it. Absolutely horrible company.
@Eric Brett I have done just that on my replacement. The descale came on about 30 days in and we are just ignoring it for fear it will fail again. I have heard people say they got surprised and couldn’t make their morning coffee when descale came on. But we are so far successfully ignoring it.
@@sheltermutts4185 does the descale light prevent you from brewing or selecting temp or strength. If not what problem is the other person having when it says descale. You know it looks very nice in the videos with good features but really when I received mine, it looked and felt like a toy. Elite is much better. I own both. Here’s why: Elite makes hotter coffee, 1 stream system better than 5 stream because if one of the needles gets blocked you have to descale. You will need to descale 5 times more with supreme. Supreme also doesn’t work with pods which are not plastic. Nowadays you get pods that are part bags. Can’t use these with supreme, mine made a mess because of the 5 needles. Supreme brews faster and the water is just not as hot as elite. My supreme is sitting in the basement now. Disappointed with supreme. If you are going for the look go for supreme. If you’re going for taste and temperature go for the elite.
Stay away from this crappy machine!! My second Supreme plus just pooched itself today after just only four months of ownership. My first only lasted two months. Both were bought from Costco in Southern Ontario. The first one was replaced by Costco because it failed within their warranty period of 90 days. Keurig is replacing my second one. Total junk IMHO.
Yeah I’ve heard a lot about their machines ‘dying’ very quickly.. sorry to hear you’ve had it happen to you twice now. So far I’ve been lucky with mine, but I am already prepared after hearing all the stories. I hope you find one that lasts longer.
DO NOT BUY THESE. It has many poor reviews. I bought the K-cup supreme (not the plus model) a month ago. Totally crappy product. Water spills all over the place. The descale light stays on even after descaling. I like the look of the machine and the handle for the water. But other than that totally disappointed. I also don’t like the quiet machine. I want to hear the sounds of the coffee brewing...the sizzles... like I’m in a coffee shop with a barista preparing the coffee. This is quiet machine feels like a leaky faucet. Not a fan. BTW, I have owned several keurig brewers but this is by far the worst machine. Don’t buy it. About to throw it out in the trash!
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! The quiet feature is one the main reasons I like this machine, especially when comparing it to the Nespresso! is the coffee more sweet or bitter taste?
Coffee is bitter generally, you could select a less roasted coffee pod or ground or add lots of cream and sugar!
Just got the machine but the water is just warm not hot at all even did the temperature to 3 also the 4 6 8 12 are no different it only fills to 4oz
if i wanted to could i put milk instead of water for just one cup of coffee?
I don't think that's a good idea. The water reservoir will likely get ruined if milk gets hot and burns from leftover milk deposits that stay in there. I always like to heat my milk in the microwave before pouring coffee or tea. Hope that helps.
Great reviews!
Thank you!
Does Strength effect temperature?
no, it doesn't.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
My K-Supreme is set to the strongest/hottest settings. A 12oz cup of coffee takes 2:28. Maddenly slow .. but there it is. The coffee is great.
How tf is less than 3 minutes maddeningly slow?
😂
lol why did mine just shut off and now it won't turn back on?
Apparently Keurig is known for that.. hopefully you can return or exchange it.
Great video fun and informative thank you
You’re welcome, thanks for the comment.
This person is the temperature girl.
Why not brew a hot cup water, let it warm mug then dump and brew coffee if u want hotter , my kuerig elite brews so hot i cant even sip it for 20 min . Course i use yeti 14 oz mug.
Just got one of these. Doesn’t it splatter all over for you?
Splatters way more than the old 2.0 version.
It did splatter quite a bit when I used the shorter mug, but the taller mug caught most of the splatter. This is my first Keurig so I can't really compare, but I really appreciate you sharing with everyone. Thanks,
That coffe maker works good
Yes, it does! Thanks for the comment!
Wow, impressive! I hope it serves you for many more years to come! I believe if you take care of it, it will take care of you!😊
Thank you for the tests.
Sure! Thanks for the comment.
You can, of course (and as shown in the video) use the My K-cup to brew with your preferred coffee. No need to ever use pods.
Hi new friend here from California stay connected ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You know, the Keurig doesn't care if you reuse the same k-cup when you are just testing temperatures...
Good point, thanks for sharing.
It last great maker
Yes, it is!
Our K-Supreme lasted about a month.
It died during the rescaling and never regained power.
No more Keurigs for this household!
Is the coffee maker still useable when it goes into DESCALE notification mode? Can you just ignore it?
@Eric Brett I have done just that on my replacement. The descale came on about 30 days in and we are just ignoring it for fear it will fail again. I have heard people say they got surprised and couldn’t make their morning coffee when descale came on. But we are so far successfully ignoring it.
@@sheltermutts4185 does the descale light prevent you from brewing or selecting temp or strength. If not what problem is the other person having when it says descale. I am debating replacing my elite with t his model. I just want to see if the descale notification gets in the way or can be truly ignored like you are doing now. Thanks.
You know it looks very nice in the videos with good features but really when I received mine, it looked and felt like a toy. This together with far too many very poor reviews, short life and a class action lawsuit alleging it has a descaling defect and short life prompted me to return. There are better Keurigs out there but like the old adage, you get what you paid for.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Reality in the press of a button. Only if life was this easy... it definitely takes a lot less than 3 or 4 hours. You could get a cup of coffee in 10 to 15 minutes.

Thank you! I'm definitely going to keep this in mind. I'd love to get one and review it too. Thanks so much for your feedback!

Instructions for decaying on your kits suck
Descaling
But, that's just me, coming from a noisy household, any signs of quietness is an asset to me! 😆
Thanks for sharing your review though, a few others have mentioned the descale light issue too!

You are doing way to much in these videos
In my test with a KitchenAid digital thermometer, I got as “high” as 185°F. That’s definitely not the 192°F promised, nor the 197°F-205°F recommended by the International Coffee Snobs of America (or whatever they call themselves) … so yeah. Oh plus my Keurig was just busted out of the box, leaks over itself and doesn’t brew the amount of water it is set to (it brews less). Hoping I don’t get a busted replacement… coz I can only go so far before losing patience and calling my credit card company…
Super great review!
Thanks so much!
