When Sammy Salammie Says DO IT RIGHT -- He means it.. Now make sure to check out the Merchandise above this comment and support My Friend Pete!
Just to let everyone know --- Further bodywork was done to this repair using regular bondo to finish it all out for primer.. It was NOT stopped at the Dynaglass stage then painted... Thanks for watching..
cool fix guys
I love what you said about helping people out ( old) I guess anyone. But you said if you don't then there's something wrong with you!!! I really enjoy helping people out cause it's rewording.
Sammy did that whole bit without cussin. Bless you Mr Salammie. You should be proud of young Pete helping out old man Ken who is probably much younger than yourself.
You have a big heart Pete, to help out a senior citizen. Hopefully Ken won't end up under a train next time and his car becomes his coffin.
nice to make yourself look so charitable pete as you're advertising your business at the same time but we both know gramps should be off the road as he's a liability and insurance don't want the risk he could cause.
So your saying Im advertising my business by saying Im helping the guy out?? I don't need any advertisement but if you say so! And YES in a way I think he shouldn't drive but since he takes care of his 90 year old wife and only drives when either of them go to the doctors I pressed on to fix his car.. And wished him luck on the way out!
If you cant see OR hear a semi while merging, time to hand over your license. They can Uber. No harm, but he needs to be off the road.
Thanks Pete, nice job fixing the car with Minnie's help.
Amazing. About to start some light bodywork on my VW, and just got this dynaglass. Thanks for the tips. And yes, always help Others!
sometimes it's better people that age are off the road, from an experience where i was nearly killed.
true Lyft and Uber make things east
Thats bs people dont give a f about freedom anymore its a shame. I understand you almost got killed but i was nearly killed by a middle aged man so you're 🐂💩
@@brainwashingdetergent4128 My Dad was 88 years old when he passed away. He had a Buick Lucerne exactly like the one Pete worked on in this video.(Dad's was black) His car was his life. He had a few minor accidents, which were NOT his fault. I did the body and paint work on the car. My sister and a few others gave me a hard time about not taking the car away from him. I knew he could still drive, regardless of his age. Taking his car would have killed him.....I had to make the decision. The hell with what others have to say about it. I still feel like I did the right thing.
@@Ray-hg3ie you made the right call. My grandfather totaled two bass boats and i raised hell when the family came together to have that talk. He is still fishing! Hasnt had any problems in a long time either.
In Florida I won't drive my 70 Cyclone except on Sundays when a football game is on and definitely before the "early bird specials". Geezers statistically cause as much trouble on the road as drunks, but you'll see lots of gray hair in those "we must ban guns for public safety" rallies.
My Friend Pete, you’re a good man helping the owner out. Not many people will do that.
You are a good man! also, thank you for the lesson.
Hey Pete.. I learned a trick a long time ago and i have used it and never had problems. Curious if you ever heard of this or tried it. When using bondo you can mix a 1/4 of fiber glass resin with your bondo mix and use the bondo hardner which will harden the resin as well. This makes the bondo much easier to spread and works great for leveling out on flat surfaces like hoods, cab tops and trunk lids. Also if your doors are off and on stands lieing flat it goes on like butter. If you want to try this i would suggest mixing the bondo and resin really good first.. then put hardner in.
Back in the 1970s they had a product called Tiger Hair. It was Bondo with strands of fiber glass in it.
Thats still available , its hard as a rock once it dries. Real good for rust repair imo.
Im happy to learn again, as i messed it up last time
If old man Ken ran into the side of a transport truck on the drivers side door it's time to hang up the keys before someone gets killed.
At what age should people be required to have a on the road driving test? I say 70, & retest every few years.
Your thoughts?
I say around that age would be fair..... And who knows, maybe he did...
@my friend pete respect to you buddy. this is the tkind of work i cut my teeth on, repairing what the big shops say need to be replaced, and all the customer wants is an economically friendly repair...where the real skills are. still a fan afte all these years. keep on keeping on brother
Sticky situation but four wrecks in a year and I think it's time to gently take away the keys before someone gets killed.
Pretty cool what you did for old man! Nice job!
Thanks Pete for putting this unsafe driver back on the road. He should of lost his license, but, you saved him. My grandmother was ran over and killed by a guy just like this. Good job 👍
Gee, maybe I should take the video down!!
Wait till you get old and nobody will take the time to help you out. Most people toady don’t care about old people, hopefully when you get old nobody will help you.
@@iraqattacks Thats a good answer --- KILL THE GUY!! Your a real trooper for sure...
@@100texan2 Most people today are selfish and self centered.. They don't know what it's like helping others and they don't care.. It's a pathetic world we live in but the few of us that care will be rewarded with far more then a pocket full of cash!
and what are you asshole? about 16 it seems
No video of the painting? Talk about you tube blue balls.
Sorry, this wasn't a painting video. This was only to show you what you could accomplish using the Dynaglass product in this manner.. I would have had to make a 3 or 4 part series of videos to take you through that many steps.. You can check out other videos I have on painting that will help you out!
There are hundreds of painting vids of Pete.. why did you pick a dynaglass video??
Great video... thanks
You’re a good man Pete. Hopefully this works out for your customer. Every time I have felt sorry for someone & did the job too cheap it has came back and bit me in the ass.
me too, most people want something for nothing and would laugh in your face if you asked them to do the same work for the same pay.later, bill
When you help someone out you do it from the heart, not for recognition. I couldn't believe how many times he patted his own back, it had to get pretty sore! Yes it was a kind gesture and yeah he is a good paint and body dude, but he totally took away from the good he did. Most people's intentions are only about themselves when you do something to help someone there's no need to talk about it.
Same here
hopefully next time he hits the semi the duraglass will hold up better than the steel in the door.later, bill
Nice comment egghead.
@@Yezir760 glad you like it peckerhead
Your videos are great I’ve
Learned so much
The factory paint on my Jeep Cherokee is alligatored and peeling. The situation caused exposed metal is rusted situation .
What D I Y recommendation for this situation
It' mainly from SUN EXPOSER and it's a mess to fix as well.. You'll have to D/A sand with 80 grit all the bad panels and then prime with 2K primer then re-paint.
Subbed on the strength of this video. You’re a good dude man. Restored just a little bit of my faith in humanity
Looks great Pete and Minnie as your a professional I wouldn’t expect anything less well done for looking after the older folks in your community 👍🏼👌🏻👍🏼👌🏻
I think it the opposite in Japan, the older you get the more respect you get.
Thanks for all the videos Pete! i've been a subscriber for MANY years and am still loving the lessons. I hope you and Minnie are well and getting closer to moving to your new shop soon.
Paint color is 2 shades off ,why didn’t you blend the paint..not professional at all.
$1500 deductable how do you save someone $1500 doing everying? Explain that to me?
If you can tell me how to paint a fender for free ill 👍 your comment
I bet 1000$ he vote for trump
Hey Pete; if a person needed to improve his plastic bumper fitment around the headlights and connection points would you use Dynatron Glass for its flexibility or would you use Bondo?
Yup, I've used that stuff a few times and worked well with the right 'prep' work. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. Thanks for sharing.
Your a good man!
Helping folks is awesome... period.
That what my customers don't understand,we can pull the door make it look bran spanking new,but if the inner door high strength steel cross bar is dented, then we can beat it till we are blue in the face that shit is just about un fixable
“Helped the old geezer out”..Hahaha
Seriously, y’all did something really nice, helping him out with that repair.
So he hit an 18wheeler and his insurance doesn’t know? You’d think the 18wheelers insurance would’ve already told on him.
Good video. Some shops would have took the old man for a ride. Charged for new door skin and use this method and customer cant tell the difference.
I would have put the fiberglass on a garbage bag or big waxpaper and slap it on the panel before shaping it with blocks or my hand.
DYNA GLASS IS A BIT HARD TO SAND JEEZ
I’m happy with everything you did pete, the only thing I’m not happy with is the color match
Next time he can pay for blending... The color isn't off that much and if you noticed anything in this video it was from the light hitting it and you where being to picky.
D.I.Y. AUTO SCHOOL I’m very picky about color because I tint color all the time for people
What is the brand of filler u would use over the bondo glass to finish? I'm not sure what to use on my project
You don't like to do it so don't do it and I won't waste my time watching you do some thing that you don't want to do anyway . so there that said , I wont waste my time on you any more !
I think it’s great that you still give a shit for other after you been screwed so many times.
Thats an awesome example of good workmanship my friend pete and Minnie 😊
anyone else see a face on the front door??
Norm wasted enough duraglass to fix that door
Ever heard of halftime?
No -- what is it..
Helping others, best part about this lesson. Good man!
Hey man super Awsome job and so nice to look out for this old guy.
there's an LKQ in orlando, very large parts supply.
12:52 Minnie laughing at Pete was hilarious!
it is sorry to say but it is people like u that keep the county going i just wish more people were like u good job being a true american i end up helping people all the time the funny thing is people help me all the time who do they call to have a car hauled off me because they like me plus i fix there cars all the time for cheap i have the time y not and don't really need the money thank you for being you and don't u have a 65 chevy if u still do let me know what u need for it if i have it it you can have it or if u have another personal project let me know the part u need i could easily could have it 80 to 65 chevy or ford i have a 4 bolt 350 block and heads needs to be rebuilt and if i don't have the part u need then i have something u will want just for being you

Thanks Pete your the real deal
My beautiful grandmother was in the same situation out of state. It was somewhat minor as she hit a gas post at a gas station. I did not fix the skinny dent on her “Robins Egg Blue” Cadillac but fixed three mechanical things, waxed it, placed it up for sale. A guy 200 miles away wanted the car so bad even after I told him everything. Last time she drove, but reminded me they did not have driver’s license, stop lights and many things as she drove her first 22 years. RIP grandma! Thank you Pete! This one touched my feelings. Blessings.
At that age people really should not be driving !
OMG! Underneath all the rough exterior and harsh persona there is a big softie with a good heart! Who would of thought it, Pete has genuine caring human emotions after all!!, with this space, videos on spirituality and flower arranging next!. The grumpy hard bastard personality was just an act all along, the guys a kitten!!!!
New subscriber pete from across the pond uk.
It's a shame theres not alot honest & decent guys like yourself out there today. That's willing to help elders. Disgraceful how the poor guys truck was stolen outside a hospital while he was getting treatment. What has the world come too. Look forward watching your channel Pete. Great job on the car. Considering what you had to work with. Much respect. Hats off to you. Your a great guy.
It's a great product as a base filler...!!!
First thing about this guy is he's an amazing body man. Second thing about him is he's straightforward and to-the-point but yet cool without being obnoxious. Best thing about him is he's got a kind heart. I like this dude and I'm learning from them to
88 years old should not be driving.
Thanks for the kind words about older folks, Pete. I'm getting there fast, (late 60s) and I have to admit that driving gets to be more challenging with age and losing the ability to drive is a huge loss. You're a good dude for helping the old guy out, that good Karma will come back to you, I guarantee. Besides, he won't be around too much longer and I'm sure that your help will mean a lot to him and his wife. You both did a very good job.
As for myself, you're doing a lot for me, also by sharing your knowledge, thanks a lot, Pete and Minnie, you all are great folks.
Great vid Pete. If you sit back and consider doing this verses a new door or skin you might agree this way is the less hasle way. You'd have to call around for a door donor, then go look at it and probably take at least 2 or 3 trips here and there to find a good one, then possibly take the interior panels off to switch then R&R the door lock and then probably have to paint the donor door anyways to match the paint...
I've used the Fiberbond (DynaGlass) many times in the past and haven't seen it fail yet. In some circumstances I've drilled holes and chiseled (cut) "stars" in the holes for the fiberbond to grab ahold of when having to put it on thick. An old body repairman told me that trick years ago. The other thing I like about it is that the fiberbond is waterproof and water won't eventually soak into it like it does bondo. One thing I learned the hard way is that the fiberbond is harder then bondo so when sanding bondo that is on top of fiberbond remember this because you'll end up causing bumps and will have to prime and fill with glazing putty to get rid of the bumps where you sanded through the bondo into the fiberbond. Sandpaper sands the bondo faster than it does fiberbond thus causing bumps. my .02
Enjoyed the video and learned what dynaglass is but dam dude quit hollering. We can hear you. And let the man finish a dam sentence.
Absolutely the best vid I've ever seen on YT! Great message Pete, "Always help people", with the shape the world is in today its certainly great to know that great people are trying to put some good back in it. Awesome vid Pete.
You're a good man, Pete....
U can also use flex stix spreader on the final Bondo cover.. before primary...
Even google doesn't know what flex stix spreader is
Pete, can you use that to fill a small hole in a rocker panel? I have a 97 cobra and I'm deleting the side skirts and a shop that specializes in mustangs (tko resto) has done that job that way by filling in the rocker panel holes with bondo glass. I've used it and it seems like a legit fix but was curious about what you thought on the matter.
This is Jeff Woods. New phone new everything. I broke phone got pissed. Got me this fancy 10 plus I can’t screw this one up.
Dude sounds like @Kali Muscle lol 😂
Also try not to mix on cardboard.
Hey Pete how's it going with you all? Hey in my opinion your videos are good other than the crazy clown in the beginning. Creepy AF
Wow !!! Sammy Salami from Miami is back. Love the show Pete....keep up the sense of humor!!
Hi Pete what thing have you made car door ? good job pete
Thanks Antony!
Pete bro you know you should have grinded on that with some 50 40 36 or something. Just a wrecked old door doesnt really matter just saying
Its cheaper to replace a door cuz used door is $300‐$350 so no need to have bundo on a newer car
My friend Pete is also a friend to old man Ken who owns this Buick. The car looks great!!
Let the man tell his story without interrupting him. That conversation reminded me of the way MSN interview a conservative.
If you've known him for 30 years Pete I'm gonna trust your judgment on this guy far as driving, thanks for the helpful video, and thanks for setting a example and helping Ken.
Oh, by the way, got your T-shirt, thanks, I look Funken Great in it, Ha ! :)
Thanks Frank!
You and me are cut from the same cloth Pete....help out when you can.
Great lessons Pete - Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Nice job! used that dynaglass stuff before works great, thanks for the tip on where to get it!
Wow good job
Love the videos! Great work Pete and Minnie!
Ur a great guy pete lookin out for the customers as always love the channel
My friend Pete is one of the best people I have ever met.
I remember bondo glass from the 1980s. :-)
yep those 18 wheelers are hard to see
Thank you brother for helping the O'l man!
pete you and minnie are awsome people with big hearts
My friends Pete and Mini helping their friends.
Good job pete, I think a cheap(expensive!) nasty modern vehicle like that does not deserve any more time/work.
Hey Pete, why couldn't you pull the dent/door skin for a better finish please? I have watched every D.I.Y and SWRNC video. Learnt bucket loads.
Much respect !
Why would he have to go to the DMV just because the car needed a new door ( our Michigan DMV couldn’t give a crap what your vehicle looks like). I just sold a 89 Ford Ranger with 380;000 miles on it that you could see thru from one side to the other. The old guy that bought it is a carpenter like me, he drove it home 90 miles away.
what about trying to heat shrink ? or is it to thin.
Bom video.
Why not epoxy on the door first, before the dyno glass. Or don't we care about rust since he's 88?
Is that a thing? Cause I hear its (bondo) then epoxy after? Legit question
@@FIRE-OWL. nope. Epoxy always goes on metal first. It's super hard when cured, 7 days. It's like sealing something in plastic. Can't have rust without oxygen or moisture
@@FIRE-OWL. that's old school, because epoxy wasn't a round then. I did this with urethane primer, before epoxy came out
This dude is an artist. Looks good 👌
Pete what sent puller do you use I would like to buy one like it
The puller I use is not made anymore. The company went out of business several years ago. You can find them online through another company that makes them but I don't know the name of it...
Looks great Pete as always.
