***** The Original I-16 did have an enclosed cockpit, However the Soviet pilots, Used to flying in open top bi-planes, Felt the cockpit restricted there view too much so they removed the canopies in the field. After it became common practice the manufacturing plants stopped installing the canopies.
Always love the way you talk about the aircraft as you fly them. Interesting to know that the I-16 had some major problems when flying it and is actually modeled. Can't wait for the next one =]
I find planes with incredibly powerful engines are a little hard to pilot. I don't own IL 2 BoS but IL 2 1946 is close enough. I found out via FSX that the Meteor jet likes to go into a tumble if you pull too hard on the stick.
G day magz i love your videos i wonder if you can do a tutorial on how ypu do your awesome stripe thing on your wings on warthunder. again i love your videos and congrats on jackson. :)
Magz, don't you wish that War Thunder would remove wing ripping and instead at comoressibility and G loc like in this game? I can't stand ripping my wings in a Spitfire at the slightest of maneuvers when in real life it's wings could take ~12.5 G and one reached Mach .89 in a dive. That aircraft lost its propeller and its wings were slightly swept back after the dive, but otherwise it was fine... Gaijin pls
ExplosiveRocketTurtle There are many things that I would like to see Gaijin do, As great as correct damage modeling would be I would take a full re-balance of the whole BR system along with an increase in the range of the BR system first.
Mags a question. Can you use the Ratta's engine torque to counter the tendency to spin on one side? Interesting bit I read about the I-16. Soviet pilots said if you could fly the Ratta you could fly anything :)
Well it never hurts to try new things. :) Ever try cross controlling a Me-109 e in a tight turn ? I use to do that In Il-2 and a few other sims to get a even tighter turn. I also use to pull the 109 into a tight high g turn and when I was just at the point of departure let up a bit on the stick for a moment and start to pull again. It made the turns much tighter because of the slats. Funny thing is some Finnish and German pilots describe doing the very same thing in the actual plane and that's where I got the idea :)
Hey magz, I was just curios if you had any experience with the Ace Combat series? I've always loved them and consider the 4th game in the series to be one of the best games ever made. Maybe a good choice for your classic gaming series.
CrocodileTearsbro there are a lot of Servers and there are about a handful i can recommend. There are servers with "easy" setting, full realistic and some with mixed setting. So there's something for every taste ;)
Your Paramour Because mixing unit systems is standard practice in real world aviation, With almost all pilots and aircraft mechanics and everyone that works along side them able to use and shift between systems with no issue. Its just people on the internet that seem to have a problem with it.
MagzTV Mixing unit systems has caused commercial aircraft to crash and for mars expeditions to fly into planets, I would hardly say this constitutes no issue at all (since exactly zero issues should be because of mixup of units). Furthermore it makes no logical sense to present data in two difference systems because to make any sense of it you must convert everything to one system. Also it's not just people on the internet as you say, anyone in engineering or sciences will not graduate their course if they constantly presented information with a mix of systems, because it isn't logical and only adds confusion.
Your Paramour And yet all countries still use both metric and imperial in all international and military aviation and there is no push from any group within the aviation industry or from any country to change that standard. No field of engineering has ever attempted to standardize aviation measurements globally and the only place you ever see people complain about the systems is on the internet. This is the way it is, Deal with it. "anyone in engineering or sciences will not graduate their course if they constantly presented information with a mix of systems, because it isn't logical and only adds confusion." But they are required to know both systems and be able to shift between them, If they cant they also fail, The same as international and military pilots that can not give altitude and airspeed in both metric and imperial on demand will fail there flight courses.
You are not required to know how to shift between them. In metric countries (ie all bar the USA) you are taught in SI units because that's all you use in science and engineering. I never had questions or assignments which presented data in mixed systems that required you to know the conversions. The most ironic thing of is that all customary/imperial units currently in use have been redefined to be a (historical) multiplication factor of the SI unit, so now these units have no inherent meaning of their own.
"In metric countries (ie all bar the USA) you are taught in SI units because that's all you use in science and engineering." So what you are saying is you are unqualified to work on any project that uses non metric measurements. Interesting schooling. In Australia we too are a full metric country however we are taught Metric and imperial measurements in primary school, High School and in all relevant courses including engineering and anything involving Aviation. Because both systems are still relevant as long as different industries are still using them and I can assure you even in your country pilots are trained in both if they wish to fly over the border in anything with wings. "all customary/imperial units currently in use have been redefined to be a (historical) multiplication factor of the SI unit," This is true, However its also irrelevant to this discussion. The system is still in use, That is not going to change no matter how much you may want it too. The system is still the core of all Aviation, This is not going to change no matter how much you may want it too. The only place I see people complaining about these facts is on the internet, Thankfully that is something I can just Ignore and will from this point on. Edit: I really feel I need to add this in as well, There are three countries that still use the metric system not one, Yes the US is the major one and you act like it is insignificant as it is only a single country. But as someone who claims to be an engineering student you should keep in mind that the "one" country that uses Imperial as you put it is responsible for around 25% of the worlds manufacturing and engineering works and as of the 2014 47% of all Aircraft and aircraft related manufacturing. That's a massive part of your potential global employability. That's a lot of work in your future career to throw aside simply because you are unwilling to accept a system that is in use and as an engineering student you should be able to learn within a week.
Greetings from germany :) I want to buy a pc with the same specs, same card and processor What graphic settings are u using (same in tanks?) Would be nice if u could tell me how its working with some games :3
IIRC release schedule was: July - I 16 August - MC 202 September - P40 October - Bf 109 E-7 November Bf 110 E-2 and at some point after that we will see the new IL-2 and the medium bombers
that tea drinking top hat tipping British man Four hours of sleep in three days happened. Took me a few moments to swap gears and get my brain out of baby mode and into video mode.
IL2:BoS - I-16 Type 24 - Battle of Moscow Early Access
Sorry the video are coming a little slow guys. I'm doing the best I can at the moment.
MagzTV I think the majority of us understands why, keep it easy, slowly but surely you will get there life is more important
***** The Original I-16 did have an enclosed cockpit, However the Soviet pilots, Used to flying in open top bi-planes, Felt the cockpit restricted there view too much so they removed the canopies in the field. After it became common practice the manufacturing plants stopped installing the canopies.
And wen you are fighting German planes and ace pilots without sleeping for more then 15 hours and with the adrenaline, the cold wont exist
MagzTV this is best plane.....BEST PLANE
Are you using joystick be cuz I am
If I understand this plane correctly, You are flying an engine that just so happens to have an aircraft attached to it.
Woo! Awsome vid :) you work so hard magz and congrats on the baby
Always love the way you talk about the aircraft as you fly them. Interesting to know that the I-16 had some major problems when flying it and is actually modeled.
Can't wait for the next one =]
Love these types of vids! Moar! Thank you!
Love this games attention to detail, just amazing.
For some reason I'm imagining squire saying yeeessss in the cockpit for the whole battle

In War Thunder that F-4 would get set on fire almost immediately :D
G day magz i love your videos i wonder if you can do a tutorial on how ypu do your awesome stripe thing on your wings on warthunder. again i love your videos and congrats on jackson. :)
+MagzTv
what kind of facetracking do you use?
MagzTV I have IL-2 1946 mostly for the pacific theater campaign. Would you suggest IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad or should I just keep with 1946?
where did you learn how to use after effects for your intros?
Any chance to try out il2 1946?
It may not have good graphics but it's fun flying German prototype aircraft
SirKapusta I bought it yesterday however i find it very hard to setup controls for my joystick and stuff.....
Ubersaltytwat .com You will get used to it

+MagzTV That's true. I'm just getting annoyed that I rip my wings so easily in a Spitfire... I'm a bit used to the Dora's. :P
Meters for altitude? It's a start
Muddy Fudger Yeah but I'm thinking I'll do knots for airspeed in future as payment for it :P
MagzTV Pfft knots are for sailors, and I don't know what the stereotypes are like down under, but here sailors like to dine and dash.
(They don't pay)
Muddy Fudger Knots is also common for airspeed in almost all US built military aircraft even today :)
MagzTV Pffftftf, what do those scrubby Americans know about aerospace engineering?
Or paying debts for that matter!
inb4 I am Spamerican
Muddy Fudger Hahaha
thos saying u cant get it i found ot an ultimat edition containing 1946 stalingrad surmovik and pacific for 8 pounds dunno dollars

Toasty Roasty Man In theory yes, Most of the times I have tried however it resulted in a more violent spin.

supersearles Ace combat was mainly a console thing, I never really flew any flight games on console.
Is there any time I could fly with you tomorrow MagzTV I live in the US
Can you please make more i love this
Mags is there a healthy population of other players who play MP in this game? Or is it mainly just single player missions.
CrocodileTearsbro there are a lot of Servers and there are about a handful i can recommend. There are servers with "easy" setting, full realistic and some with mixed setting. So there's something for every taste ;)
Cool, thanks. Guess I'll check it out
Do you ever play with you're subs?
Anthony Oneal Yes he does.
Why do you give altitude in metres and climb rate in feet/s? Mixing unit systems is exceptionally poor practice.
Your Paramour Because mixing unit systems is standard practice in real world aviation, With almost all pilots and aircraft mechanics and everyone that works along side them able to use and shift between systems with no issue. Its just people on the internet that seem to have a problem with it.

9000 meters? is it possible you meant feet? it didn't look like 9000 meters
Can you fly Emil next?
Scarecrow it's not in yet
Scarecrow Once its released I will. no idea when that will be. M.C. 202 will be next.

MagzTV could you fly with me real quick
Megz y u no war thunder
On war thunder
Mags could you fly with me tomorrow my war thonder name is =cp= ROCKETBOY
0:49 "redraction"? 1:03 "Wi-flying the aircraft"?
What the fuck happened to your English in the first minute of this video?
that tea drinking top hat tipping British man Four hours of sleep in three days happened. Took me a few moments to swap gears and get my brain out of baby mode and into video mode.
MagzTV I can tell, by your pronunciation of the Ju 87's name. (which no, I don't know how to spell)
that tea drinking top hat tipping British man quite easy actually, try Joonkers J-U (or Joo) 87 Stooka
should word for most English speakers ;)
HerrStein Germans pronounce their J's like Y's, so it's actually pronounced like "Yoonkas".
and Stooka is pronounced "shtooka". :D
I'm German...it's not shtooka...and It's not my fault english speakers pronounce Y's like J's :P
