Here is maybe an idea to weigh the beans down.
Get a brick or something similar, then wrap with plastic wrap, then spray release on it.
It should push the beans further down and some apart from the resin afterward.
Just a thought to try in the future.
The slab of wood at 11 minutes looks like there are faces carved into the side of it. That's what I thought until you ground it off! Very cool piece.
If you wanted the beans further down the bottom, you could use a potato masher, it would push the beans down and let the epoxy rise ;)
I think when it's left to set the beans will just start rising again.
RIP the potato masher though
@@cartoonhead9222 You can get silicone mashers, epoxy shouldn't stick to it
@@sparkyprojects it would lock in the masher because of the holes. A taped block of wood would have worked best to hold down the beans.
@@xmu69 You only use the masher the same way he used the stick, you don't leave the masher in the pot.
I’d love to see you turn a coffee mug with white resin and beans. 🫘 ☕️ 🥛
Do a clear one!!! I enjoyed the video thanks!
8:08 🤣🫣
Almost had a coffe fountain here!!!
That would have been messy too!!!
I'm a coffee lover so I love this. I made a lot of coffee candles. This came out wonderful. You need to make a coffee bowl.
Hey Ben. Love your work mate. This may be a silly question but why do you mix up the resin in one tub and then pouring into the second tub? Wouldn’t it be better to just do it in the square tub?
Amazing job 🤔 but I'm wondering why you didn't mix more epoxy to fill in the empty spaces around the beans
Idea!!!.. I wonder if you put essential oils in the epoxy, would the smell come thru and for how long?.. just a thought.
Genuine question: why not pour the resin over the beans vs putting the beans in the resin?
That is the same question I have?! If your goal is to have the add articles submersed in resin why did you add the coffee beans 🫘 after?
That looked awesome totally enjoy the video
Looks great. I'll be honest though, I thought you might make a jar to keep coffee beans in when I saw the blank on another of your videos.
This looks super cool! Thanks for sharing
In my humble opinion, that would have made a wonderful table lamp.
Hey Ben, Hello from North Carolina. I was wondering why you use a rectangle container to then turn it round? it seems like you would want to start with a cylinder to save material and time. Is there a reason I'm not thinking of?
I'm not much for the taste or smell of coffee but I know a lot of people are for sure.
I was wondering what if you would have hollowed it out and maybe drilled in few random holes in one of them and then put a warm light inside, I am thinking 🤔 it might even give off a stronger coffee ☕ smell, wouldn't it? And I am sure there are other effervescence that would also work in that way too, but maybe I am wrong, what do you think, my friend?
👍👍👍
If your goal is to have the add articles submersed in resin why did you add the coffee beans 🫘 after?
One question i can't get out of my head: why not use a round container for the pour when you are gonna turn it into a Ball anyways?
Very cool Ben ❤😊
Really cool!
Thanks Lynn 😊
Why wouldn't you cast it in a round container?
The latte ball
Ben have tried some kind of colorful cereal?
Ammm. You have to REALLY Love coffee to make this and to buy it.😅
Beanz ‘R’ us. Love it, love the aroma of coffee beans ❤
Well your shop going to smell great for a while 😅
I thought you were making a pot… a coffee pot to hold your coffee beans.
It looks nice, but I'd rather drink the coffee.
😁👍🏻
This is the most elaborate way to make ground coffee I've ever seen.
For a second when the music started I was expecting a lobster named Leon to make an appearance. Love coffee. Anything made with coffee is a win in my book.
same here😅
I think it's great that you've started signing your art pieces. It adds that personal touch to the projects
Never would have guessed you were a bean counter.
(If that term isn't known in Australia - it's a colloquialism for accountants or other financial professionals.)
I pray to god he doesnt actually use that rolling pin or coffee mug. Resin is hella toxic and will (not might, WILL) end you.
Watching at 9PM, and had to go brew a cup so I could have "smell a vision" LOL
Ahhh, nothing like the smell of freshly turned-- uh, ground coffee. The end result was so cool looking! I wonder what it would look like with a clear brown resin instead of white. Great video as always, Ben! 10/10
Well, thanks Ben, now I don't know if I want a bowl of Cocoa Pops or an Oreo Mcflurry....
I would think that pouring the resin over the beans would have been much easier and allowed better coverage.
7:41 And, perhaps added more rain and covered all the exposed beans at the top. Not sure what it is yet, but just wondering.
Just my humble opinion
Just a suggestion, but would it not be worth using a sacrificial "plug" in the top of the container, to help force more of the more buoyant inclusions further down into the resin while it cures??
Seeing the coffee beans in the resin, made me think of Cocoa pebbles on cereal. Minus the resin turning brown
i wonder how well beans hold dye or if they can be bleached to make colourful variations
when you first placed this project on the lathe it reminded me of how cereal might look, maybe you should try lucky charms or something similar
Ooh that is lovely! Honestly I could smell the coffee while watching the video!
Thanks Mate, yeah it smelt good :)
ooooooooooooooooooo ... how about some of the adorable pocket hugs and bear hugs with beeeaaaaaannnnsssss ... like and emergency coffee in yer pocket!? lol
I wondered why you didnt put the beans in first then pour the resin over them,
That shop must've smelt amazing after this
I don't know why, but I get terrible anxiety whenever a turning video goes to slow-motion. Something in me is completely convinced the project is going to get ripped from the lathe and go flying 😂
I'm the same way. Like where's it going to fail.
this turned out super groovy (as per usual)!! well done!! Would love to see how coffee beans would look in a cappuccino colored resin. Keep it up!
Cool, it just looks good enough to eat, I'm imagining Dream Topping and coffee flavour. I think coffee bean pocket hugs would be really cute. Thank you for upload 👍
As usual, great stuff, Ben!
As I was watching this video, I got an idea… this could have turned out to be a great coffee grounds canister.
You could also do this with loose tea for a tea leaves canister. Then another one with either sugar canes, or raw sugar, for a sugar canister. Then sell them as a set 👍👍
The opportunities are endless! Wheat for flour, rock salt for salt, or any other item in its initial form for other canisters. Then we can split the profit 50/50… or not 😅
The part where the beans are is truly beautiful!
I love the smell of freshly grinded coffee beans and resin in the morning!
With Vegemite toast!😊
I am unable to drink coffee due to it makes me sick. However, I do Love the smell of coffee. When I make it for my husband, I always sniff the grounds first. Mmmmm!
i love the smell of coffee, i basically live with it lol. so it's so cool to see this huge coffee ball in your desk (even tho for me it would be a mistake, it will remind me of taking more coffee). i simply love it
That looks really cool Ben. Hope you and Nicole are having a great trip 😊
You should have heated them dry in a pan and sprayed them with sugar water. It wouldnt dust. Even grind them for one second into chunks that interlock better and compact it.
Hah! Well thats one way to grind some beans! Dunno if I'd try pulling a shot from them though! Resin-coffee probably isn't too tasty xD Good work as always mate
It's amazing Ben. It looks like a planet. It should be called Coffee Planet. Plenty of air with good weather for aroma coffee. Chance of rain shower of milk, sugar and hot water. 😂😂😂
My daughter won county spelling bee for her age group. Unfair when half the field were highscoolers. She beat 2 high schoolers. Im interested in something personal. Would love to collaborate and check on a price. Something small like a plaque.
"There is just something so satisfying about holding a big ball in your hand" Ben's Worx 2024
What do you do with all that resin shavings that comes off all your projects? Love your work Ben!
Hey Ben, I was thinking about how awesome it would be to replace the outside layer of a thermos style hot/cold mug with a coffee bean resin cover…. That way you could have a food safe option to drink from!
you should try this with other very fragrant things like juniper berries, chamomile, or lavendar
What are you going to do with all the wonderful smelling shavings form this project? I say make another coffee mug.
Sorry im a noob with resin and stuff, but why didn't you cure it upside down instead? Just a friendly question i haven't worked with any of this stuff 😊😊
I know you did some loose math, but no way there's 20,000 beans in there! Internet seems to say about 9k beans per kilogram 🤷
I’m still trying to find those cup mounts but can’t find them anywhere
Is this one called "Cap-ball-chino"? Awesome work Ben!
That is cool 👌 i’ve been lookin for my forever coffe cup and i just thought i want a variety of coffee beans in either white or clear resin. Oh and it’s gotta be a man size, not the basic size 🤣
not 20,000 in the pot....there is still what's left in the bag to account for. LOL
Can we have something next made out of polystyrene beads and resin with the beads dissolved out afterwards with acetone?
Watching this made me think it would be cool if you made a breakfast cereal bowl out of cereal in white resin. Then when you put the same cereal and milk in it would probably look like milk and cereal in an invisible bowl.
I think your math is WAY off. 1 kilo is about 1,000 beans.
Imagine if you made a vase with a tight-fitting lid, so you could use the vessel made of resin and coffee beans to store coffee beans in the kitchen? How meta would that be?
This is really cool. I thought you were going to turn it into a lamp at first. I think that would look really cool too!
I would have put a wasteblock on top to weigh down the beans so it was all more submerged and you could have a better distribution in it..
I think a large bowl, using it to put k cups in next to the keurig, would be awesome!!!
12:03 you should make a cool wood burning stamp or a stencil that you apply stain through.
Coooolllllll!!! I bet that smelled amazing!!! Also, it made me crave a bowl of cereal 🤣
I really thought it was going to be a coffee jar, maybe make that next time, nice big ball though 😊
Great video and fun project but i do have one question. You mixed the resin in a round container, why turn around and move it to a square container? Why not use a round one instead, use less reson and easier to turn with out the corners to remove when you start turning.
Why do you pour the resin into the bin, then put the additives inside instead of putting the additives in and pouring the resin over them?
Hi Ben, may be lavender would also be an option. Smells nice too!
That came out pretty neat, Ben! I bet your shop smelled amazing!
I expected to see coffee beans flying all over when you started up the lathe.
Can you do something with jar of peanut butter?
I kept thinking of cocoa pops and milk whilst watching this 🤣
You'll eventually be able to get to sleep after all that caffeine wears off.
I call this "coffee n cream" Would look and smell awesome as a lamp too.
I bet the workshop smelt like coffee for days after.
That is really cool! That base is really beautiful!
would love to see you make a jar to hold coffee from coffee beans
I liked the song selection for the b-roll this time :)
wounder what that coffee would look like made as a lamp hmmmmmmmmmm
Excellent project. It looks like a bowl of coco pebbles
Is there a reason you don’t have a vacuum attachment?
6:35 that’s one way to make coffee granules
I'm getting jittery just watching this.
Thats one way to grind your coffee 😂
That would make a cool light !! a night light
