I love this cover. The electric guitar and his voice add the tortured and emotional feeling that George Michael misses with his smooth sax, though I love the original just as much.
Exactly. That tortured, tormented element is what i love about this cover!!! George's version was a more classy, sad lament. While this version actually captures the very deep, dark and visceral feeling of regret. Like you made the biggest mistake in your life for carelessly destroying the bond you had with a someone you loved dearly. Fantastic cover all around.
There is no comparisson between this version or the original. It's two different genres of music, I also like this one better, but, it is not because this version is better, it's just that I relate more with this genre of music. For example, my parents prefer the original version. It depends on tastes, not the actual quality of the version, because both are very good.
justin girard what do you mean gay? Careless whisper is one of the best songs (imo) I’ve ever heard. Regardless of specific tastes of music and whatnot, the saxophone solo is still amazing.
Great cover! Loved it. For those that don't quite get the video, it's all references to the 80's. A-team, teenwolf, q-bert, back to the future, street fighter, karate kid, greatest american hero, frogger..... the list goes on and on. Each sequence in the video reminds me of something from the 80's. The video has less to do with the song than the era the song came out.
I feel so unsure As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor As the music dies, something in your eyes Calls to mind a silver screen and all those sad goodbyes I'm never gonna dance again Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you Time can never mend The careless whispers of a good friend To the heart and mind Ignorance is kind And there's no comfort in the truth Pain is all you'll find I'm never gonna dance again Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you Tonight the music seems so loud I wish that we could lose the crowd Maybe it's better this way We'd hurt each other with the things we want to say We could have been so good together We could have lived this dance forever But now who's gonna dance with me? Please stay I'm never gonna dance again Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you
Legitimately came to this version and just got home from seeing the movie. This would have made it more dramatic though and it was just too sarcastic. Lol
I am George Michaels #1 fan, loved him since I was 9 years old in 1984. this is the only remake/cover I have ever liked and love the video too. I love Seether too. 💖
If only all covers could turn out so well. It takes true talent to remake a song so well it sounds like an original. They do a great job of preserving the greatness of the original song despite completely changing the character with their rock version.
There's quire a few covers I prefer over the originals. Nonpoint's In The Air Tonight, Lacuna Coil's Enjoy the Silence, Mushroomhead's Crazy, Johnny Cash's Hurt and One. There are so many more but I don't want to spend all day typing out a list of great covers
Muito bom. Lembro de ter visto esse clip no canal de TV a cabo pela MTVHITS. Escuto até hoje. já se passaram 14 anos. Escutem jovens que estão na casa dos 20. Aproveitem muito bem e façam bom uso dele. O tempo corre demais.
To everyone saying WTF at the video (I'm guessing most of you weren't around in the 80's?) the original song was as 80's gem and the video is full of the Seether guys navigating through an 80's style game and besting all kinds of 80's pop culture icons with the aid of other 80's icons which I find is in keeping with this cover of the song besting the original. Nice homage to George Michael too. Nice bit of nostalgia, brilliantly done! ;-) -an 80's baby
Time can never mend The careless whispers of a good friend To the heart and mind Ignorance is kind There's no comfort in the truth Pain is all you'll find- I miss you Billy RIP
Without a doubt the best music video that I've ever seen. Seriously, Grunge knows how to music video... we have prime MTV and amazingly talented people to thank for that.
People who make fun of George Michael have no idea of his talent. The man isn't famous because he's clueless. This is a great song made better by another talented band.
The video is using different things which came out the same time as the original song, for example reference to 80's classics and retro games blah blah blah, IT'S A FREAKING AWESOME COVER
I read an article in Guitar magazine a few years back about the Seether recording and production notes of this song. The string arrangements are played via Roland guitar synth, the old system that needed the installation of ROLAND synth pickup into your guitar in order to communicate with the Roland pedal board processor, that in turn, produced the unique analog synth string sound.
The whole point of the video is to show all the bullshit that went down in 2008. It's actually genius, you've just gotta be smart enough to look between the lines.
You don't have to be smart to understand.... The whole power and emotion of this song is lost with the video. The idea for the video is awesome but not for this song
Who’s with me in 2024 to this song 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Absolutely!
Great tune done perfect.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

This version does have more emotion in it, though.
got me into Seether
Gosma Dourada how can you like the orignal?? Its the gayest song ive ever heard
I agree, I am affiliated with this type of music better, and I prefer this version better, the original is still pretty good though.
justin girard what do you mean gay? Careless whisper is one of the best songs (imo) I’ve ever heard. Regardless of specific tastes of music and whatnot, the saxophone solo is still amazing.
Its 2015... Still waiting for this game to come out... :(
brett guillaume LOL :-DDDDDDDDD
+The Batman well half life 3 is coming out so im still waiting
+Damon Sokolowski Best games always get delayed
+brett guillaume The same for a HD Remaster/Remake of Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication.
Duuuuuuude that would be perfect
Great cover! Loved it.

The video has less to do with the song than the era the song came out.
not to mention a bunch of atari games we all played
The black car during the guzzler portion is a reference to the original music video.
See I interpret the video as all of the issues facing the US economy during the Great Recession.
Alain H I believe you are probably forgetting the television series Knight Rider with David Hasslehoff
Mr. T …..Fools!!!
I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind a silver screen and all those sad goodbyes
I'm never gonna dance again
Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool
I should have known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I'd been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
And there's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find
I'm never gonna dance again
Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool
I should have known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I'd been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose the crowd
Maybe it's better this way
We'd hurt each other with the things we want to say
We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But now who's gonna dance with me?
Please stay
I'm never gonna dance again
Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool
I should have known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I'd been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
An amazing tribute to the 80's.
The best version of Careless whisper i've ever heard
Didn't know they covered this song. Brilliant version.
I'm not usually into cover versions but bloody hell this is amazing!!! I never even knew Seether did this song 🤘😎🤘
They also covered black honey by thrice and it’s amazing as well
I love their cover of this song! Normally I don't care for covers, but they nailed it. :-)
Even nirvana covers? Damn
This version should have played after deadpool XD Edit: It took me five years to realize my grammatical error!
Legitimately came to this version and just got home from seeing the movie. This would have made it more dramatic though and it was just too sarcastic. Lol
+Zach Jackson should have
That ending for deadpool was the best😂
no
Zach Jackson bello

Old as a dinosaur.,😮

i´m sure, this is THE best cover of any song, period
all the soul is catched, layers added...PERFECT JOB DONE!
Still the best cover of this song 🤘🏼🎸🥁
What a tribute to George Michael!
A cover that actually surpasses the original. Well done, Seether!
+Brandon Clark I love Johnny Cash's version of Hurt, he outdone Trent. I also love this cover better, and I love Metallica 's cover of Turn The Page
+emily edens Shinedown also outdid Lynard Skynard with their cover of Simple Man
+Brandon Clark oh definitely!!! I forgot that one
+Brandon Clark easy now. getting a little carried away. but ill listen again now just to make sure.
one of the best covers ever for sure. an all time classic!
This is not a cover this is art ♥️🤟🏻
RIP George Michael.

Rest in pieces
Wham!😖
@@nunyabidness4655 I never knew he was apart of wham until I read your comment and looked it up.
Man created so much live by proxy, a life well lived
Nunca tinha visto essa "versão" ...
Simplesmente, excelente!!
Realmente
Addicted to this cover
Came here yesterday to appreciate the song...
RIP G.M.
This is when they became Wham!
They earned the exclamation mark.
..and the Norsemen came out of the closet like the Vikings of old....

Im never gonna dance again. these guilty feet have got no rythm.
Though it's easy to pretend, I know you're not a fool, I should've known better than to cheat a friend ;o
darude-sandstorm
Phil Harvey Hahaha it was at that part when I read your comment xD
Jaide Strykr Thut perfect timing :3
***** I hope your hard drive crashes
I am not disappointed!!! Seether nailed the rock version
Best cover of this song, for a song that wasn't easy to cover given the guy who did it first.
Finally a girl that doesn't give a shit what they say about her. Nicely done Anna.
Quando esculto essa música, lembro da versão que o nosso sentimento fez ❤
Thank TikTok for showing me this masterpiece 😮
Seether rocks this song. Thanks guys
100 percent better than Wham's version. I love that it has more seething, emotion and rawness. Shaun killed it!
Notice how it says "Wham!" when he hits something.
Nemoris Inferioris I actually really didn’t notice that until right now till I saw this comment
I just noticed right before I saw your comment. Such an easy joke and I totally missed it.
0:41 Something in your rice
+Szaruzi xD
Lol
Lol
Are you sure that it doesn't say "Something in you rise"?,
Anyhow, you made spit my cereal all over the table now I must clean, Thanks, lol.
+Ricardo Manuel Arana something in your eyes. jesus
Summer of 2009 I remember blasting this song. Had just recently graduated from HS. Good times
For a song they did as kind of a joke and just for fun as a Valentines Day song, they sure as heck rocked the hell out of it. I love this version.
Damn im old. I named every reference in that music video (born 1983)
Ahh me too, 1980
Jessica Brown and me - 1991 ...
Try being born in 1969. Those reference were already old when I was a teenager!
pitfall is the only one thats clearly obvious to me i used to play that on the atari
+Ian O'Hara HaHa! I'm smiling because I made every reference as well....:D
amazing, i can't stop listening to this!!! the original song is great, but this cover scratches your soul, love it!!
Спасибо, Александр Борисович!)
Wow this mom of 4 and one lost to drowing in 1995 and 4 grandkids...Fragile Tranquility, Tiger Lily and Dairyblonde Community...love this.
Seether impresses me... Great band I will never get tired of listening to them! This cover ROCKS!
Video surprised me with its retroness, but I'm not complaining, I love it.
Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find- I miss you Billy RIP
I like this better than the original.
I think they both have things that are good about them
Agreed. This version matches the lyrics. The other is corny, funny.
Seether cured my ball cancer
Omg lol
TheBurningTurd lmao
It's so nice when the video has nothing to do with the song. Especially one this emotionally driven.
Probably one of the funniest music videos I've seen.
Cover excelente, parabéns seether!!! 🔥
WOW...Blown Away!
Took this song to a whole new amazing level! His voice was made for this exact song🌟🌟 it's like fine 🍷
Agreed! I know it’s an older cover but, Seether has blown me away. Their writing and Shauns voice is effortlessly talented
Much better than the original
This song is amazing. I love Seether's cover the best.
Personally I thought this was better than the original

This song is so beautifully done by them. I prefer it to all other versions I've heard.

One of the best covers ever. Wrong video.
Great rendition of the song, but the video is classic!...~Terrie~
Powerful cover! Love it.
I relate so much to the pain portrayed in this cover of such a great song.
NES + Atari + Sether. Flawless.
siempre será mi canción de rock favorita!!
powerful video, tells you a lot about the players in the system. Back to the future final clue...
We all lost a good friend 😢
I was dirt poor in the 80's but I still see most of the references. This was a great video.
ouvindo em 2017 ❤
R.I.P George Michael ❤
Linda ! Melhor q a original
Best. Music video. Ever.
Im old now but I dont listen to the music (70's-80,s) Oddly enough my 26 old son listens to what I did...Saw Seether in concert...AWESOME show!!!😎
People who make fun of George Michael have no idea of his talent. The man isn't famous because he's clueless. This is a great song made better by another talented band.
Oh my good. Amazing
Broken is pretty much my favourite song,
But damn this is good!!!

Born 1978. This 8-bit video remind me old, good times. How i miss it. I think i'm old :P
best version ever of the song, even better than original
Why does this one have a synth string assembly thing going on in the background?
I like it...
its the strings enhancement
I read an article in Guitar magazine a few years back about the Seether recording and production notes of this song. The string arrangements are played via Roland guitar synth, the old system that needed the installation of ROLAND synth pickup into your guitar in order to communicate with the Roland pedal board processor, that in turn, produced the unique analog synth string sound.
The BEST COVER EVER, This is fucking awesome!!!!
Best version of Careless Whisper
Its so different than original song, and amazing cover
I love George Michael but I love this version..amazing..
+Kate Mc I prefer this one :D
+MSTRlegit Yeah, I just prefer it because I love the voice of seether
+MSTRlegit I agree with you.. these guys are amazing..I love seether. more emotion in this song.
+MSTRlegit very true. alot more emotion and feeling..x
what a weird video for this song. Nevertheless this is a supreme cover

Good song. Weird video.
+BloodRavyne True u.u
+BloodRavyne D: true.... the song sounds good its a good cover, but the video just messes it up .
It's made to be like an 80's video game since this was originally an 80's song
+BloodRavyne as a 90's kid, I really liked it :)
+Holly Harrison no shit! you think thats helpful? put down the selfie stick you conceited fuckin waste of new flesh
