Hong Kong was British before it got returned to China in 96/97 and before then they all had British nationality. And are English speaking but mostly try not to speak English even though they do. They use Hong Kong dollars and speak Cantonese. They call themselves honkongers. But in general they are now all classified as Chinese. And they all have an English name because of the British system they acquired. That's Jackie Chan home country.

@@IvainTures It''s true. Some other Asian Countries dislike the Chinese speakers because they talk so loud and abruptly. The Mandarin speakers (PRC) can be louder than the Cantonese (Hong Kong) speakers. In 1997 the former British territory was returned to PRC. Since then many changes have happen. Many Middle Class Hong Kong citizens left in the late 1980s and onwards to the UK, Canada, Australia, USA, NZ, Singapore and other developed countries.

She wasn't yelling that's how they speak. There's my favourite Cantonese restaurant where i eat and i used to get pissed off with the Chinese woman there because of how she spoke till i realised thats thier normal way of speaking like some Africans do.

Why so many people on small space, you asking?. Average resident of Hong Kong is alsmot 3 times richer then average resident of rest of China. Average resident of Hong Kong is richer then average resident of Germany, Finalnd, France, Canada, Japan or Italy. Only Singapore and Qatar(oil) are richer then Hong Kong in Asia. Hong Kong is full of immigrants, mostly from Philihines, Vietnam and Indonesia. Also, lot of people from China, in latest times. This is a reason of over crowded districts of the city, i do not know exact data but over 3000, 4000, 5000 people per km2.
I've been to Hong Kong several times and the immigration was just a normal check that's all, even in mainland China no special extra checks, from immigration or customs, but ok enjoy your stay in Hong Kong, if you have time you can take a ferry to Macau which is a former Portugese colony
