@@libaaxasomaliland1066 So you're saying that since Prophet Saleh's Camel was sacred that's why it's precious in the whole Muslim world?Bro Camels are only present in environment which is arid to semi arid.In Major parts of the Indian subcontinent, turkey, East coast of Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia,Brunei Camels aren't considered precious. Its only considered precious in Arab countries, Somalia and countries in the Sahel region.
And there is nothing sacred about the camels. If at all they were sacred then the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him wouldn't have prohibited us from praying in their shed.

Yes you are right, Samirah, that Charcoal taste is called “ Cugay, ama Culey” and it makes the milk smell nice. The Cugay is done by burning the brunches from a tree called “ Kadi”. The brunches from the Kadi tree is burnt and then the burning “ Kadi” is rubbed into the Dhiil, hence why the Dhiil is black. I hope this clarifies things a little. God bless you all. Big love❤

@@SamirahJees @hiboibrahim is absolutely right. But it’s also used to the kill any bacteria that might be in the Dhiil from previous use, so then the milk would stay fresh for longer. But it has that an acquired taste of smokey smell and charcoal after taste. Which the Somali’s seem to love, for an example if one has to give milk to a guest they would make sure the Dhiil had Culay performed before placing the milk and giving it to the guest, this is for any milk regardless of what type of animal it came from, it’s customary which speaks high value of respect for the guest.

People in this unforgiving land also tend goats, sheep, and cattle, but, Jaamac said, “Somalis love camels the most.” Camel milk has always been a staple food, and the villagers will kill one of their animals for meat only when it’s dying of natural causes.
The lives of humans and camels have long been bound together by mutual need and affection. Jaamac said that when his camels come back from grazing, they recognize him and greet him as if they were his pets.
As he put it, “There's no culture for Somalis if they don't have camels.”
But today, that ancient Somali human-camel relationship is in jeopardy.

Maybe it's best to ask someone in very rural area. I don't see it in Hargeisa, I know that I see unicef adds on my Facebook feed. I can't believe they are talking about the country I'm living. There is plenty of need, that's for sure, but the bombardment of the NGOs asking for donations doesn't seem to add up. Support any family directly if they are struggling with the drought.

hey there, lovely videos . i enjoyed watching.
the mark you are talking about on the camel neck is to mark. each tribe or clan will need a mark to recognize their camel from other tribes for general recognition. any one lost camel will be kept by the first person to find them. but to contact the owners they need some recognition marks . it makes it easier to contact its owners once its lost in the country side. if its stolen, any one leading them will be recognized as well. each tribe live in certain area. so if your camel walks past that area lead by some one, it will be recognized and you will be informed. so basically that is idea.
