The delay is because it contains battery saving technology. If you keep moving all the time, it senses that and will start to 'space out' the detection time. Once no-one is in, as anyone would expect for it to be armed, the sensor will start to reduce the spacing and will trigger the alarm "instantaneously" on detection of a body movement.
