I like the fact that Kaido is fine with whats going on at the moment and from how the ending isn't like Oden's fight.I also like how Kaido is looking thankful for fighting luffy and giving him so much fun in the end of this.
You just gotta love Kaidou's expression at 21:48 and 21:54. It's just cheer unadulterated joy at the fact that his opponent somehow just grabbed a fucking lightning bolt out of the sky to throw at him. He's surprised, but he is TOTALLY with it.
@@Kevster921 Kaido is loving every minute of that fight. This was everything he wanted in a battle. And for me personally, this was exactly the kind of battle i wanted to see between Luffy and him. I didn't expect the drunken bits during the fight but Oda made an amazing call with that too, capturing the essence of Kaido. But now i'm afraid that we won't see another fight like this for the rest of the series, where there's this much enjoyment from both parties.

I still can't get over how Luffy can now rubberize his surroundings, and other people. Even air itself. He can pretty much do whatever he wants now, which can't be said for literally anyone else in One Piece so far. He's the only one unbound by restrictions aside from not being able to swim. Although, since he can rubberize anything, he can just propel himself out of the water.

@cara lidstone i dont think kaido had any nerfs at any point in his fight vs luffy, and also luffy was already yonko lvl when he learnt ryou. well he could already challenge a yonko when he arrived in wano but learning ryuo was like a surefire move that could give him the chance to go head to head with kaido. and also if you're talking about him learning advanced conqueror's during the fight then his haki got stronger because he was fighting and since he already knew ryuo it was basically the same thing just with conqueror's haki. and dont forget luffy lost multiple times before actually defeating kaido.

The conqueror headbutt between luffy and kaido was in my opinion the best moment in the entire fight. Reminded me of the swordclash between roger and whitebeard.
People keep talking about how kaido stomped luffy several times and how much help he needed before beating kaido. In Act 1- he one shot luffy( unclear whether he was using future sight or nor due to being angry) In Act 3- On the rooftop battle he got KO'd by ragnarock and after he got coc coating.( A sensible power up because ryou is flow and all he needed to do was flow his coc also keep in mind this was a big power up) After coating he states his earlier attacks were shallow( meaning all the attacks he did earlier barely did any real damage to kaido and if that applies to luffy it also applies to everyone except the zoro scar.) Luffys gets KO'd again and is sent into the water, he eats and regains energy. Yamato holds kaido and and it was clear she didn't do much damage to kaido but she was just stalling for time. Luffy gets up there and starts fighting kaido again( Yamato in the raws mentions how luffy can barely even stand- shows that when luffy eat he regains energy, he doesn't magically heal) First real feat that shows luffy is getting to the level of kaido is the sky split( after this luffy literally doesn't get beaten until he's sabotaged, he fought with kaido equally for a very long time) Gets knocked out in g4 after he's sabotaged and dies, awakens g5 and it was obvious to me who was stronger( even though luffy barely understood his new form he was faster and his coc haki was stronger, kaido got many hits in but all brushed off by luffy and finally the bajran Gan which is the strongest attack in the series so far) My Point- When luffy actually got on kaidos level with coc coating, kaido needed a high diff fight to beat luffy( when luffy got g5 he became stronger than kaido) Current Luffy- Current Luffy has better mastery of coc coating, ryou , g4 and g5. We also know his haki will get stronger. Kaido- He get get some damage by the scabbards and supernovas but those attacks were shallow, meaning luffy fought a 90-85% kaido. Also his flame clouds was only used to present his power, it was alluded to that the flame clouds were taking a toll on him or anything. Luffy will beat a fresh Kaido because he's going to begin the fight on his level in the first place and wouldn't need to get knocked out several times.
People would have accepted Kaido’s defeat better if Luffy managed to actually hit him with some of the most devastating attacks he did in Gear 5, like body slamming Kaido at the end of the jump rope or hit him with the lighting bolt. Instead, Kaido dodged each one of this attacks so there was great build up and beautiful panels for the preparations of these strong attacks with no actual pay off. And Kaido coughing blood (typical One Piece indicator for a character stamina decreasing after taking huge damage) was really rare so the majority of us wasn’t expecting the sudden “big punch” to end it all.

Just something like fire dragon armour to make kaido looks more durable against Bajrang Gun no more no less. Poor battle execution
The fact that Kaido started dodging more is proof that he can’t afford to take any of Luffy hits anymore. The fact that he took a knee and breathing heavy and his flame cloud was another indicator to his health. The one major power in Luffy final attack was the fact that he can bypass Kaido defenses in two different ways. One is Ryou/CoC attack and with his awakening ability when we saw him stretching Kaido body with his Gatling gun making his attack go deeper made that punch the biggest threat to Kaido if he didn’t do that flame dragon awakening.
The flame clouds as indicators of Kaido’s stamina did not work for me. The fact that the strongest creature on the planet was actually taking damage was something that I needed to actually SEE, not just to be told about through Momo/Yamato comments on the flame cloud (it lacked something visually). Or at least hear Kaido’s thoughts about a possibile defeat, the realization that he was finally pushed as far as never before. As far as I remember, Luffy’s most impactful attack was Red Roc and it was his FIRST attack. We can argue about the punch he delivered through Kaido’s face, but I still prefer RedRoc, everyone could clearly tell it did serious damage and slammed Kaido face first into the ground. Gear 5th attacks lacked that, expect for the final punch.

u can see before he get gear 5 that he is quickly getting greater mastery of his fruit. he is very quickly switching between all the gears including the g4 forms and his attacks regularly incorporate g3. in hindsight it was pretty obvious g5 was coming
Just as Kaido said, the awakening of a fruit happens when it’s user mind and body are developed enough to push it into the next level. So it’s not the fruit that made Luffy powerful, it’s the other way around since it is said that many people also had the gum gum fruit but nobody ever awakened it
@@bonelesschickennuggets1868 I think the awakening did give a direct strength increase, but it also widely widened luffy's attack selection. if there is one thing I noticed about g5 is it allows him to freely combine hakis,shift between forms as well, plus being able to apply the effects of his fruit to everything around him. he's top tier in terms of strength and general versatility now.

That’s also something I noticed, he’s now capable of doing everything the previous Gears did but the limitations and requirements of each are removed (Blow air into his bones, accelerate his blood flow). And also, if you notice Haki doesn’t seem to affect his body that much, every time Kaido hits him with the mace his body is stretched to take its form, mitigating the damage
@@bonelesschickennuggets1868 the power boost is actually pretty apparent with the final hit on kaido. it wasn't a beam struggle, luffy was waiting for momo to move the island. the way its framed, luffys fist was compressed like a g4 attack and he tells momo to move the island. kaido starts to bite down on the fist and the first is still compressed and once momo moves the island, he let's it go finally and it instantly blew through the lava dragon to kaido. he may have been using ryuo or conquerors to fend off the lava, but he would've beaten kaido earlier in that if he let the attack go. in short, g5 is a crazy fucking power up, I see why the world government freaked out about it, ur right he's not taking like any actual damage from much of what kaido did except maybe the wind slashes. he doesn't seem to give much of a crap about haki hits either anymore. greenbull is about to get rolled.
@@faceless_man566 He specifically tells Kaido that he learned a technique to fight him without having to touch him, Aka Ryuo and Advanced Conqueror, so yeah he coated the first in those two to avoid getting his whole arm melted lol. That’s a very big detail I noticed recently when it came to the elders, back in Dressrosa after the battle with Mingo was over, when they where informed that Luffy had something to do with it, their reaction is “Why… Is that brat at it again!?” And I dunno, now we have a better context on their fixation on Luffy, they expected him to die on the Grand line like every other pirate but instead he got quickly out of their hands, that’s why they considered loosing their best CP0 agent counterintuitive since it would raise to much attention, they do NOT want to raise suspicion at all.

watching it this way, the fight is really amazing. i enoyed it week to week too though I'm one of the ones who actually liked the way the Kaido fight ended. but seeing everything flow together this way makes it a lot better. gear 5 also looks amazing and so epic coloured correctly in all white, can't wait to see it in the anime in full colour too.

If we wanna be nitpicky technically EVERY single time any character in fiction has been in a tight spot and been saved is plot armor, and if you take issue with that then it seems you just have a bone to pick with fiction altogether.
I’m a fan of one piece almost purely through cultural osmosis because of watching tekking 101 and grand line review. I don’t have the attention span for the anime and It’s always been hard to read the manga for me cause it always felt like something was missing and now I think it’s the color, there’s always so much going on in all the pages of this manga it’s hard to absorb it all but having it colored actually makes it easy

Luffy now with Gear 5th is on Kaidos Level now, he can 1v1 him now from 100%. Bajrang Gun > Any of Kaidos Attacks, the fight could go either way though. Bajrang Gun takes down like 50% of Kaidos Health so I definitely think Luffy could beat him up enough for Bajrang gun to end him.
If kaido didn't hold the island in the air, if kaido had rested in battle, even g5 luffy couldn't have beaten kaido, we didn't see kaido's 100% power, we saw 45%.

We are not even sure if Luffy is stronger then Kaido because we can make a solid case as to why he is not based on all the damage Kaido took (Samurais, Supernovas, Luffy, Momo-Yamato-Luffy and Luffy), this is why Goku always let the enemy transform or give them a senzu bean.
Luffy Gear 5 is definitely stronger than Kaido. Luffy Gear 5 absolutely destroyed Kaido even after Luffy nearly died multiple times. Imagine if Luffy went Gear 5 from the beginning of the fight, Kaido would have had no chance.
@@cainandabel7059 How long is Gear 5 lasting? Kaido took much more damage then Luffy from different people however all the damage Luffy took was from Kaido only. If Gear 5 doesn't last long enough against Kaido it will be a gear 4 situation with Doffy and Kaido would win. It's possible Luffy is stronger and it's possible he's not, all that is because Luffy didn't win against a Kaido in perfect form.

Of the four emperors (spoilers) One didn't realize he was eating a devil fruit, one didn't want to eat the devil fruit, one never ate a devil fruit, and one literally killed for two devil fruits. All four of them were at Marineford.

Every devil fruit power usage has some type of physical drawback on the use, the clouds def weakened him a little so no he wasn't at full 100% more so 90-85ish, luffy needed weird heartbeat just to pump gear 5, kaido def felt some type of damage from all those that attacked him, so yea 85-90% and every devil fruit hass a weakness but a weakness doesn't determine if you win or not, the 9 scabards, zoro, law, kid, killer all this + flame clouds = 85% weakened kaido!

@@leZerUchiha - I don't think so. Doffy was not weakened by creating his String Clone or even creating the birdcage while fighting simultaneously. Also Luffy was weakened too. Yamato said Luffy could barely stand. He fought ALOT after that. In general, using Haki or a DF weakens the person, but I don't think it greatly applies to Kaido. Not in the sense like it does to Law or Cracker. Zoans seem to be a bit different.

If am not wrong I need to go check but kaido devil fruit was a fish and it based on a fish climbing a waterfall trying to fly? and when it reach the top it become a dragon so kaido devil fruit shouldn't be a dragon, so I think his awakening is becoming a dragon. So did Doffy technically, he used his awakening and then just fell, I believe the dependency of the devil fruit is wrong for this fight, I feel this was a fight where Luffy had to upgrade his offensive Haki level more than DFs (Obviously Luffy's climax is all about the DF but I felt the lesson Kaido was trying to tell was culminated when he mentioned Roger) Haki is the be all end all of everything in the One Piece world, Luffy needed to learn tons before that, Awakening shouldn't be so common tbh. It's insane enough that Kaido's fruit is easily like top 3 Zoan in the series (lol was 1st before the reveal) Adding an awakening is just cheap at this point, sometimes less is more.
Reading forums and comments I see that people try to settle for what Oda wrote. I love One Piece, I want to clarify, but this fight had a lot of script power for Luffy. And if you look for opinions about the fight, you'll see that the majority of them are posts made before the fight result, where everyone writes things like "I don't think Luffy will beat Kaido", "Do you expect it to be something as basic as giving Luffy a power up and beating Kaido?" "Kaido is much stronger than Luffy." Basically what happened was a power up for Luffy so that he could win, after Kaido left him unconscious twice. The first time Luffy woke up because he was fed meat like Goku in DBZ, that simple. The other was the Gear 5 PowerUp. The fight was good, but it seemed too obvious to me how much the script influenced it.
I still can’t believe that he beat Kaido. I l know Kaido tanked a lot, but there is no way he is out just like that. I’ll always believe in Oda and if it ends like this I’ll deal with it, but i still believe there will me more to this fight.

@julien mihawk He awakened his fruit of course. They don't have to tell it all the time it's just normal for yonko. It's like observation haki awakened they always use it but no need to tell it or show they use it all the time.

If Luffy is emperor level and is stronger than Kaido/Big Mom, there still has to be an individual or future enemy that is still stronger than Luffy/Kaido. My bets go 100% on Blackbeard because of the broken cheatcode devil fruits he has, after all he is most likely Luffy's true rival or the final villain. Shanks might even be a contender but we don't have enough information on how strong he is compared to Kaido. If Shanks can easily defeat Kaido then Luffy is no match against Shanks. I've also always considered the possibility of Garp or Akainu being a match for Kaido or even a match for luffy. Marine titles does not equal strength.
Dude the last bosses is someone or maybe more than 1 from world goverment. World goverment and celestial is the real threat in one piece universe.. Worst fight in the entire fucking series. Luffy gets his ass beat a million times and then he comes back with no consequences from defeat and gets powerups thrown his way. He didn't earn this victory in the slightest. Sometimes One Piece approaches fine literature other times you remember that Oda is literally writing for 12 year olds. But Much of his fanbase... has grown up with this. I was a child when i started reading, but now as an adult i expect better writing. Oda said "luffy won't win because his punch is harder" that's literally what fucking happened. He could have been clever about it. He could have had it mostly be a worst gen group fight with a bit a 1v1 fight towards the end and have Blackbeard be the first Emperor Luffy 1v1ed, nope. The Fights have always been the worst part of One Piece, it where you get the worst and most cliche and dumb writing from Oda. It ended in a 1v1 because it had to, because it's a shonen... well that says something about the writing quality of shonen lol, that they rely on dumb ass-pull powerups and shit like that. Oda made Kaido too powerful, he wrote himself into a corner and so instead of being clever he shoveled a million power ups into luffy and called it a day. A big reason why battle shonen generally horrific, lowest common denominator type stuff. The character, story, themes, and the world itself are where it shines. I can't stand any other battle shonen because it is just dumb nonsense, fight new enemy, power up, rinse repeat. The context of the fights are frequently far superior to the fights themselves. ID why i ever get excited for the fights when they are the same old boring shit every time, and yet i'm still somehow excited about Luffy Vs Akainu and Luffy Vs Blackbeard.
Yes he did this victory and he wouldn’t deny that he had help in this fight because he’s is always willing to work with others. All the skills he learned is both from training and adapting throughout the battle that he grew closer and closer and learning throughout his defeats. The best part is that even with the power ups he got he only managed to get even with Kaido. Also these powers up came from learning everything he’s done or saw from his enemy like always.
Also luffy had to literally be killed for him to finally be able to utilize his fruit towards its full potential, not to mention luffy has always been a quick learner as was shown when he gradually caught up to katakuri to the point he was fighting on par with him in base until flampe hit him with her numbing needle

After December 18(1045) 2 weeks break/filler. Ive read somewhere that nico robin Demon form ep is at 1021 manga chapter. And Luffy Gear 5 is @1043 and wano arc ends at @1051 And based on current wano pacing itll take 5-6 months for Gear 5, 8months for wano end. I cannot wait that long. This video helps a lot. You just gotta love Kaidou's expression at 21:48 and 21:54. It's just cheer unadulterated joy at the fact that his opponent somehow just grabbed a fucking lightning bolt out of the sky to throw at him. He's surprised, but he is TOTALLY with it.
@@Kevster921 Kaido is loving every minute of that fight. This was everything he wanted in a battle. And for me personally, this was exactly the kind of battle i wanted to see between Luffy and him. I didn't expect the drunken bits during the fight but Oda made an amazing call with that too, capturing the essence of Kaido.
But now i'm afraid that we won't see another fight like this for the rest of the series, where there's this much enjoyment from both parties.

I still can't get over how Luffy can now rubberize his surroundings, and other people. Even air itself. He can pretty much do whatever he wants now, which can't be said for literally anyone else in One Piece so far. He's the only one unbound by restrictions aside from not being able to swim. Although, since he can rubberize anything, he can just propel himself out of the water.

@cara lidstone i dont think kaido had any nerfs at any point in his fight vs luffy, and also luffy was already yonko lvl when he learnt ryou. well he could already challenge a yonko when he arrived in wano but learning ryuo was like a surefire move that could give him the chance to go head to head with kaido. and also if you're talking about him learning advanced conqueror's during the fight then his haki got stronger because he was fighting and since he already knew ryuo it was basically the same thing just with conqueror's haki. and dont forget luffy lost multiple times before actually defeating kaido.
I never noticed that at 15:37 kaido thanked luffy for being alive, wano truly is one of the peak arcs.

People keep talking about how kaido stomped luffy several times and how much help he needed before beating kaido.
In Act 1- he one shot luffy( unclear whether he was using future sight or nor due to being angry)
In Act 3- On the rooftop battle he got KO'd by ragnarock and after he got coc coating.( A sensible power up because ryou is flow and all he needed to do was flow his coc also keep in mind this was a big power up)
After coating he states his earlier attacks were shallow( meaning all the attacks he did earlier barely did any real damage to kaido and if that applies to luffy it also applies to everyone except the zoro scar.)
Luffys gets KO'd again and is sent into the water, he eats and regains energy. Yamato holds kaido and and it was clear she didn't do much damage to kaido but she was just stalling for time.
Luffy gets up there and starts fighting kaido again( Yamato in the raws mentions how luffy can barely even stand- shows that when luffy eat he regains energy, he doesn't magically heal)
First real feat that shows luffy is getting to the level of kaido is the sky split( after this luffy literally doesn't get beaten until he's sabotaged, he fought with kaido equally for a very long time)
Gets knocked out in g4 after he's sabotaged and dies, awakens g5 and it was obvious to me who was stronger( even though luffy barely understood his new form he was faster and his coc haki was stronger, kaido got many hits in but all brushed off by luffy and finally the bajran Gan which is the strongest attack in the series so far)
My Point- When luffy actually got on kaidos level with coc coating, kaido needed a high diff fight to beat luffy( when luffy got g5 he became stronger than kaido)
Current Luffy- Current Luffy has better mastery of coc coating, ryou , g4 and g5. We also know his haki will get stronger.
Kaido- He get get some damage by the scabbards and supernovas but those attacks were shallow, meaning luffy fought a 90-85% kaido. Also his flame clouds was only used to present his power, it was alluded to that the flame clouds were taking a toll on him or anything.
Luffy will beat a fresh Kaido because he's going to begin the fight on his level in the first place and wouldn't need to get knocked out several times.
Discounting law and gamma knife, Zoros 9 sword style, kidd and killers attacks, Yamatos attacks.

People would have accepted Kaido’s defeat better if Luffy managed to actually hit him with some of the most devastating attacks he did in Gear 5, like body slamming Kaido at the end of the jump rope or hit him with the lighting bolt.
Instead, Kaido dodged each one of this attacks so there was great build up and beautiful panels for the preparations of these strong attacks with no actual pay off.
And Kaido coughing blood (typical One Piece indicator for a character stamina decreasing after taking huge damage) was really rare so the majority of us wasn’t expecting the sudden “big punch” to end it all.
Oda write off kaido awakening to be included in this fight. It is because Luffy doesn't have chance to beat kaido with decent awakening.
Oda choose it will never happen because wano need to end asap.
Luffy best kaido just because his awakening is so powerful while kaido don't have any card left in his sleeve.
You can argue fire dragon is awakening. But that's just a low effort from oda. How he can draw kaido fire dragon only in 1 chapter while wano arc is have 150 chapter. Is kaido awakening doesn't matter to him????

The fact that Kaido started dodging more is proof that he can’t afford to take any of Luffy hits anymore. The fact that he took a knee and breathing heavy and his flame cloud was another indicator to his health. The one major power in Luffy final attack was the fact that he can bypass Kaido defenses in two different ways. One is Ryou/CoC attack and with his awakening ability when we saw him stretching Kaido body with his Gatling gun making his attack go deeper made that punch the biggest threat to Kaido if he didn’t do that flame dragon awakening.
The flame clouds as indicators of Kaido’s stamina did not work for me.
The fact that the strongest creature on the planet was actually taking damage was something that I needed to actually SEE, not just to be told about through Momo/Yamato comments on the flame cloud (it lacked something visually).
Or at least hear Kaido’s thoughts about a possibile defeat, the realization that he was finally pushed as far as never before.
As far as I remember, Luffy’s most impactful attack was Red Roc and it was his FIRST attack.
We can argue about the punch he delivered through Kaido’s face, but I still prefer RedRoc, everyone could clearly tell it did serious damage and slammed Kaido face first into the ground.
Gear 5th attacks lacked that, expect for the final punch.

u can see before he get gear 5 that he is quickly getting greater mastery of his fruit. he is very quickly switching between all the gears including the g4 forms and his attacks regularly incorporate g3. in hindsight it was pretty obvious g5 was coming
Just as Kaido said, the awakening of a fruit happens when it’s user mind and body are developed enough to push it into the next level.
So it’s not the fruit that made Luffy powerful, it’s the other way around since it is said that many people also had the gum gum fruit but nobody ever awakened it
@@bonelesschickennuggets1868 I think the awakening did give a direct strength increase, but it also widely widened luffy's attack selection. if there is one thing I noticed about g5 is it allows him to freely combine hakis,shift between forms as well, plus being able to apply the effects of his fruit to everything around him. he's top tier in terms of strength and general versatility now.

That’s also something I noticed, he’s now capable of doing everything the previous Gears did but the limitations and requirements of each are removed (Blow air into his bones, accelerate his blood flow).
And also, if you notice Haki doesn’t seem to affect his body that much, every time Kaido hits him with the mace his body is stretched to take its form, mitigating the damage
@@bonelesschickennuggets1868 the power boost is actually pretty apparent with the final hit on kaido. it wasn't a beam struggle, luffy was waiting for momo to move the island. the way its framed, luffys fist was compressed like a g4 attack and he tells momo to move the island. kaido starts to bite down on the fist and the first is still compressed and once momo moves the island, he let's it go finally and it instantly blew through the lava dragon to kaido. he may have been using ryuo or conquerors to fend off the lava, but he would've beaten kaido earlier in that if he let the attack go.
in short, g5 is a crazy fucking power up, I see why the world government freaked out about it, ur right he's not taking like any actual damage from much of what kaido did except maybe the wind slashes. he doesn't seem to give much of a crap about haki hits either anymore. greenbull is about to get rolled.
@@faceless_man566 He specifically tells Kaido that he learned a technique to fight him without having to touch him, Aka Ryuo and Advanced Conqueror, so yeah he coated the first in those two to avoid getting his whole arm melted lol.
That’s a very big detail I noticed recently when it came to the elders, back in Dressrosa after the battle with Mingo was over, when they where informed that Luffy had something to do with it, their reaction is “Why… Is that brat at it again!?” And I dunno, now we have a better context on their fixation on Luffy, they expected him to die on the Grand line like every other pirate but instead he got quickly out of their hands, that’s why they considered loosing their best CP0 agent counterintuitive since it would raise to much attention, they do NOT want to raise suspicion at all.
Man this is cool reading week to week it sometimes gets easy to forget what’s going on, or you have to reread a few times. This made it a lot better thanks.

i liked the fact kaido was always smiling except last panel...
watching it this way, the fight is really amazing. i enoyed it week to week too though I'm one of the ones who actually liked the way the Kaido fight ended. but seeing everything flow together this way makes it a lot better. gear 5 also looks amazing and so epic coloured correctly in all white, can't wait to see it in the anime in full colour too.

If we wanna be nitpicky technically EVERY single time any character in fiction has been in a tight spot and been saved is plot armor, and if you take issue with that then it seems you just have a bone to pick with fiction altogether.

I’m a fan of one piece almost purely through cultural osmosis because of watching tekking 101 and grand line review. I don’t have the attention span for the anime and It’s always been hard to read the manga for me cause it always felt like something was missing and now I think it’s the color, there’s always so much going on in all the pages of this manga it’s hard to absorb it all but having it colored actually makes it easy

Luffy now with Gear 5th is on Kaidos Level now, he can 1v1 him now from 100%. Bajrang Gun > Any of Kaidos Attacks, the fight could go either way though. Bajrang Gun takes down like 50% of Kaidos Health so I definitely think Luffy could beat him up enough for Bajrang gun to end him.
If kaido didn't hold the island in the air, if kaido had rested in battle, even g5 luffy couldn't have beaten kaido, we didn't see kaido's 100% power, we saw 45%.

We are not even sure if Luffy is stronger then Kaido because we can make a solid case as to why he is not based on all the damage Kaido took (Samurais, Supernovas, Luffy, Momo-Yamato-Luffy and Luffy), this is why Goku always let the enemy transform or give them a senzu bean.
Luffy Gear 5 is definitely stronger than Kaido. Luffy Gear 5 absolutely destroyed Kaido even after Luffy nearly died multiple times.
Imagine if Luffy went Gear 5 from the beginning of the fight, Kaido would have had no chance.
@@cainandabel7059 How long is Gear 5 lasting? Kaido took much more damage then Luffy from different people however all the damage Luffy took was from Kaido only. If Gear 5 doesn't last long enough against Kaido it will be a gear 4 situation with Doffy and Kaido would win. It's possible Luffy is stronger and it's possible he's not, all that is because Luffy didn't win against a Kaido in perfect form.

Every devil fruit power usage has some type of physical drawback on the use, the clouds def weakened him a little so no he wasn't at full 100% more so 90-85ish, luffy needed weird heartbeat just to pump gear 5, kaido def felt some type of damage from all those that attacked him, so yea 85-90% and every devil fruit hass a weakness but a weakness doesn't determine if you win or not, the 9 scabards, zoro, law, kid, killer all this + flame clouds = 85% weakened kaido!

In general, using Haki or a DF weakens the person, but I don't think it greatly applies to Kaido. Not in the sense like it does to Law or Cracker. Zoans seem to be a bit different.

but once luffy heals up and gets used to his new gear and stuff he’s over kaido cuz u gotta remember he learned two advanced forms of haki and had an awakening, so he should probably hone his skills a little more

So did Doffy technically, he used his awakening and then just fell, I believe the dependency of the devil fruit is wrong for this fight, I feel this was a fight where Luffy had to upgrade his offensive Haki level more than DFs (Obviously Luffy's climax is all about the DF but I felt the lesson Kaido was trying to tell was culminated when he mentioned Roger) Haki is the be all end all of everything in the One Piece world, Luffy needed to learn tons before that, Awakening shouldn't be so common tbh. It's insane enough that Kaido's fruit is easily like top 3 Zoan in the series (lol was 1st before the reveal) Adding an awakening is just cheap at this point, sometimes less is more.

Reading forums and comments I see that people try to settle for what Oda wrote. I love One Piece, I want to clarify, but this fight had a lot of script power for Luffy. And if you look for opinions about the fight, you'll see that the majority of them are posts made before the fight result, where everyone writes things like "I don't think Luffy will beat Kaido", "Do you expect it to be something as basic as giving Luffy a power up and beating Kaido?" "Kaido is much stronger than Luffy." Basically what happened was a power up for Luffy so that he could win, after Kaido left him unconscious twice. The first time Luffy woke up because he was fed meat like Goku in DBZ, that simple. The other was the Gear 5 PowerUp. The fight was good, but it seemed too obvious to me how much the script influenced it.
I still can’t believe that he beat Kaido. I l know Kaido tanked a lot, but there is no way he is out just like that. I’ll always believe in Oda and if it ends like this I’ll deal with it, but i still believe there will me more to this fight.

If Luffy is emperor level and is stronger than Kaido/Big Mom, there still has to be an individual or future enemy that is still stronger than Luffy/Kaido.
My bets go 100% on Blackbeard because of the broken cheatcode devil fruits he has, after all he is most likely Luffy's true rival or the final villain.
Shanks might even be a contender but we don't have enough information on how strong he is compared to Kaido. If Shanks can easily defeat Kaido then Luffy is no match against Shanks. I've also always considered the possibility of Garp or Akainu being a match for Kaido or even a match for luffy. Marine titles does not equal strength.

The Gear 5 reveal was the best part reading this fight weekly
Worst fight in the entire fucking series. Luffy gets his ass beat a million times and then he comes back with no consequences from defeat and gets powerups thrown his way. He didn't earn this victory in the slightest. Sometimes One Piece approaches fine literature other times you remember that Oda is literally writing for 12 year olds. But Much of his fanbase... has grown up with this. I was a child when i started reading, but now as an adult i expect better writing. Oda said "luffy won't win because his punch is harder" that's literally what fucking happened. He could have been clever about it. He could have had it mostly be a worst gen group fight with a bit a 1v1 fight towards the end and have Blackbeard be the first Emperor Luffy 1v1ed, nope. The Fights have always been the worst part of One Piece, it where you get the worst and most cliche and dumb writing from Oda. It ended in a 1v1 because it had to, because it's a shonen... well that says something about the writing quality of shonen lol, that they rely on dumb ass-pull powerups and shit like that. Oda made Kaido too powerful, he wrote himself into a corner and so instead of being clever he shoveled a million power ups into luffy and called it a day. A big reason why battle shonen generally horrific, lowest common denominator type stuff.
The character, story, themes, and the world itself are where it shines. I can't stand any other battle shonen because it is just dumb nonsense, fight new enemy, power up, rinse repeat. The context of the fights are frequently far superior to the fights themselves. ID why i ever get excited for the fights when they are the same old boring shit every time, and yet i'm still somehow excited about Luffy Vs Akainu and Luffy Vs Blackbeard.

Yes he did this victory and he wouldn’t deny that he had help in this fight because he’s is always willing to work with others. All the skills he learned is both from training and adapting throughout the battle that he grew closer and closer and learning throughout his defeats. The best part is that even with the power ups he got he only managed to get even with Kaido. Also these powers up came from learning everything he’s done or saw from his enemy like always.
Also luffy had to literally be killed for him to finally be able to utilize his fruit towards its full potential, not to mention luffy has always been a quick learner as was shown when he gradually caught up to katakuri to the point he was fighting on par with him in base until flampe hit him with her numbing needle
