I saw where Dutchsinse said today that the location of that quake was in the deepest part of the Yellowstone magma chamber.
Hurricane season gonna be wild, jeez. Northeast is looking at snow, tornado watches, and flooding tomorrow or Wednesday with heavy rain.

According to USGS the furthest away so far listed on their Responses is 650 miles away in Denver CO. On the origins section: 5.2 magnitude with 236 stations reporting. Why they went with the station details of only 89 stations and 4.9 mg is interesting.

Some people dont know that there is a good sized area of lava under Benton County, Washington. Old lava beds are on the hills and a perfectly preserved Teranesaurus Rex encased on a hill by Plymouth, Benton County, Washington.
And our electric when out here in Ohio on a beautiful sunny, 60 degree day.

😄TY, Bryan, for the update on the 4.9 Idaho earthquake; we didn't feel anything in Northern Cali. but I still keep my go bag at the front door in these topsy-turvy earth changes. The telecom networks were down, no texting, phone, etc., in and out. Before that, our TH lost power for a few hours; another vid said it was not the CMEs but rather a cyber hack, weird.

I was born in boise idaho in 85 0r 87 when the big one hit it was crazy i had a waterbed getting rdy for school and bed starting waving .. i get sick right before an earthquake hits . Glad im not living there. But north texas seems to be in a path lately. And this texas weather is making everyone sick 93 right now.. sheesh. Glad no injuries reported yet the Challis one was bad get rdy its gonna be a wild ride

Erm, not exactly. These medium powered quakes that occur once in every 5 years isn’t the one to trigger global fears of a catastrophic supereruption at Yellowstone. Gotta take more 5+ magnitude earthquake or more several times to raise the awareness alert to yellow level 2. Currently we aren’t at that stage. So yeah, the chances for a early on Yellowstone eruption are still very slim. We’re at 90,000 years left to go to even call for an supereruption. Hope this helps you understand the idea.

Were there quakes prior to the main one in Idaho? During the evening or later? the night before (last night) I was in my old motorhome til midnight watching uoutube news. And the motorhome was shaking like an earthquake. I wondered if the wind that was blowing was shaking it. But it was just like an earthquake. In Benton County Washington.

Well worry not. This Idaho quake will not lead to an supereruption. Though it looked like it sparked fears of a imminent eruption but in short-term, it has not officially. Remember, supereruptions can take 600,000 years to occur and right now Yellowstone is on green level, which is very good. Yet the most likely scenario would be lava flows and rock hurling geyser (Hawaii style) not being too judgemental to all geologic fans, but it is the nature of geology that supervolcanoes do not work well like clocks, plus the magma chamber is at 15% melted fully. Rest is 96% partial melt. So we are good to go. Just a ordinary Idaho 5.5 magnitude Quake, nothing too serious.
