Ah, Persona 3 This game saved my life when I was younger. I'm 23 now, but I first played P3P when I was 15 at the time I had recently lost one of my best friends to suicide. And he left me his smt collection of games and merchandise. We actually bonded over our shared love of the games and persona 4 anime. The only comfort I was given the time was Persona 3. If there's anything you can take away from p3 its that we will all die, no matter how much we try to deny it. It's important to remember your death, remember your mortal and use that fear of your death to keep you moving forward in the present. So burn that dread and own it. Make your life what it can be, what it was meant to be. Because you might not have another day so make the most of the here and now. Thank you Persona 3.
That sounds like a very hard experience. I'm sorry you had to go through that, but I appreciate your courage in sharing it, and I'm glad this game has been able to help you.
One of the most memorable parts of P3 (for me) is when all the characters learn about the fall, and then have to go on living normal lives until then. How the atmosphere of the entire game changed really did it for me
A friend and I had decided to go back and play persona 3 (and 4) after I beat persona 5. After I beat 5 last September, we started on persona 3. It was a really cool experience to go back and see how the series formed from the mechanics introduced in 3. Persona 5 may have been the game that introduced me to the series, but persona 3 represents the beginning of me and my friend’s full investment in the series. What a way to end 2019
Oh man, I also started my love for the persona series with this game. I was already a smt fan. But this game somehow managed to get a special place in my heart. Specially the theme that is carried through its entirety, which is dead and how people cope with it. If I could play it again for the first time, I'd do it without hesitation.
It's a great title, and even though everything I did when recording for this video I'd already done multiple times, I still enjoyed every minute of it.
I'm so glad I found a youtuber as passionate about persona as myself that actually has cool videos like the cocktails I must promote this channel in my discord >->
I constantly go back and forth on whether my fav Persona is 2 or 3. But the sheer amount of emotion I have grafted onto playing FES for the first time just can't be understated. Thanks for the solid video on a great game! Also, thanks for playing devils advocate on the party system for this game. Its nice to hear a more positive take on it for once!
Persona 3 is definently my favorite persona game by far despite loving the other two as well. Also my favorite general Megaten game but that might not be fair considering I've only played smt 5 of mainline (I'm playing through 3 and 4 now.) I absolutely adored every single thing about the game when I first played it especially since it was my first jrpg ever so I didn't even know "tactics" was a weird thing. And even after playing the others I still love p3s combat. The story is definently my favorite part along with the music
And nyx is my favorite video game boss of all time. It's so satisfying with the build up to the fight and how impactful it is and the music is my favorite persona theme
Oh my god! I didn't even realized its you strain42, I started reading P3FTW a few days ago and love it! Thanks so much for making it! :) By the way I tought it was Persona 3 F*ck The World for some reason, I feel stupid.
still one of my favorite game of all time. i hope the next main series bring back how the persona evolution works here for each member instead of making the MC be the ultimate problem solver despite not being BFFs, most of them actually moved on with other members help (like yukari and mitsuru)
Love these videos, you plan on doing one of these for the persona 2 duology? love the games, especially innocent sin. Shame they’re not as remembered as the newer persona games.
I do genuinely love P2 and may talk about them some day, but probably not until I'm able to record my PSP 'cause if I'm gonna do Innocent Sin I'm gonna do the officially localized one.
Strain42 you could always just record a psp emulator. I don't think anyone would blame you for doing so as there's really no way to record a psp natively
I played the PSP version and even on the small screen and beating it, I had an absolute blast with it. I loved how the cast had their personas evolved on their own without you butting in, how the characters slowly felt like friends, the stakes and even the fact that we had a rival Persona team. Hell, Junpei had an arc in the story which is more then I could say from Yosuke and Ryuji and overall I wish some of the ideas from this game could be brought back into a Persona 6 or something.
True, but I always think Akihiko was the worst because he got flanderized to focus on a trait he doesn't even really exhibit in the original game. Chie DOES eat meat and Teddie DOES hit on girls, but Akihiko doesn't once mention protein within the main story (Shinji does, though)
@@strain42 I've always wondered why the characters get so flanderized in the spin offs. Is it a case of the writers not playing the original games or maybe it's out of laziness to make them easier to write?
@@all-stargam3rpunk My honest guess, especially with Q is when you have a game with SO many characters in it, you need to make it so that nearly every single line is objectively what "THAT" character would say so things become boiled down to just a couple of very specific tropes. We see similar issues in some of the Fire Emblem games.
I actually really like that the cast doesn't come across as super best friends for most of the game. I mean I liked in later games (especially p4) that you had a really close knight gang it fit the theme, but for P3 it made it feel like everyone kind of had their own life, and it fit the theming that you had to like go out and make friends on your own.
tbh? i like Dancing in Moonlight. It's a bit melancoly thnx to wut happens in P3 (u know wut i mean) also i do hope u talk about Q and Q2 someday! happy new year ;3
I think the reason the main character doesn’t tell them is because the game didn’t exist at the time but the in universe reason could be that he thinks SEES would not believe him as it sounds far fetched for something like that to happen as I feel I would be skeptical being told that I forgot about an adventure where I met people from the future who also have the same kind of power I have with no evidence to support said claim.

I know I'm a bit late to comment, but you guys busy must've been lucky with your Mitsurus, because mine used Marin Karin way too often when I played FES, and it really sticks out when she uses it instead of healing or taking down an enemy that she could easily defeat on that turn
"The voice acting in this game is incredible"
Fuuka: *gasp*
Aigis: HALP
Oh boy I can’t wait for December 31st 2029 when we get the Persona 4 video the Decade end special
When I did my video on Soulless Army I told myself I'd do King Abaddon "soon"
...that was four years ago, so yeah, you're probably right XD

Can we get a spoiler rant? The endgame part of this game is defenitly the most interesting part.

3 is a great game, and like I said in the video, it's easy to see why so many elements it introduced have stuck around.

Still a very nice retelling of persona 3.
This video was long enough as is, and I may do a separate video on The Answer down the road.

And I’ll mention your suave new haircut here if anyone else hasn’t noticed
It was! And thank you! I've never really done anything with my hair, but I wanted to try something new as we go into the new decade.

4:00 to be fair there aren't many characters from Persona 3 (or 4) that spin offs don't flanderize (Persona Q probably being the worst offender)
