Some people belive that Stella is abusive to Octavia. I don't think so Octavia doesn't show any signs if being abused atleast what we have seen of her. I think Stella is more neglectful then anything maybe emotionally abusive.

Also because we'll it's a common mistake, none of the chracter's have "backward facing" legs. That is visual misconception people have about anatomy. In digitigrade stance legs the "reversed" joint is the heel of the foot not the knee and the creature walks on it's toes The knee is difficult to see because the shins are so short compaored to how long they are in the Plantigrade stace humans have.
The whole leg thing comes from being an amateur transformation story writer. A transformation scene where "the knees bend backwards" is something I hate!

That’s probably my favorite feature of Octavia - not that I don’t absolutely dig her entire vibe but her voice is so…believable, so real.
Cautionary is pretty much as a contingency if someone were to kill Stolas. Octavia would have to step up as the Queen of everything if something happened to Stolas.
You could have also stated that Stella is a peacock and Octavia is half peacock half owl

Stolas’ feathers have a slight blue tint to them, Stella’s are white and pink, and Octavia’s are more of a warm gray color. Plus her eyes are hot pink, while Stella’s are pale pink and Stolas’ are red. She does look much more like Stolas, but she has some Stella mixed in.
If I had a choice between Octavia and Stella, I'd choose Octavia
I must remedy that accidental dislike at once. But more importantly: Who on earth would ever pick Stella over Octavia? Unless MAYBE they’d only seen a single picture of each with no context.
Cause for as much of an attitude as Octavia has she strikes me as a genuinely sweet girl. Easily one of the more benevolent people in the show.

It's precautionary and not cautionary. It means most likely that if the first heir to the throne dies, she would be next in line to take over the throne. The throne is probably the one Stolas father holds.
Also the devorce was already announced when stella started taking octavia on weekends and Octavia simply has the same eye color as her mother, which is practicly the only feature they share.
