The mad lad did it! I hope that you were still able to enjoy this game in spite of how brutal this mode is. Like you, I struggled the most with being surrounded, especially with the over-the-shoulder view that made it so hard to keep track of other enemies and their attacks. Well done sir
if you guys didn't know, at 2:11 you can block this. press Q (on PC, or whatever it is on Playstation) and Kratos blocks his punch and sends him back. same with the animation at 3:08, if you press the attack button, Kratos hits him with his axe
That’s crazy that’s almost the same amount of times that I beat Batman Arkham Asylum city knight and origins combined. I beat asylum 6 times city 4 times and knight 3 times and origins 3 times.
I one hundred percented both games in the highest difficulty despite the stress of it all. This is bc these games were masterpieces and I wanted to savor it in every way possible. I find it to be the way they intended us to play it. Every character moment is earned by both us and the characters due to the lesson that you learn as a player closely tied to the lessons that the characters learn along the way. Learning that the quick dodge timed right is so much more important than spamming the dodge roll, even though it’s your instinct to panic dodge roll, ties to the theme that kratos knows the error of his ways and understands that being intentional in your moves and understanding where your errors are, is paramount when it comes you raising your boys
Thank you! I want to start uploading stuff that is a bit longer but I’ve learned that YT seems to push my videos the most when they’re around the 32-35 min range so I’ve been a bit hesitant haha
i got my "plat" (100% on stream) a little over a month ago and this is genuinely one of my favorite combat games of all time. and that says a lot because i usually don't play most games more than twice and it was enjoyable 90% of the time, that one section towards the end when you're unlocking the jotunheim tower is the only section i genuinely can't stand regardless of the playthrough
@@CompletionistTrav yeah man the valkyries are hands down my favorite part of the game, once i found out about them back on ps4 i was hooked on sigrun for 3 years, my rivalry with her spanned entire platforms (from ps4 to pc lol)
Great stuff, Trav! I would say that Kratos ain't winning any Parent of the Year awards any time soon, but if it's restricted to Norse mythology... he's got a chance!
I'm also taking on this challenge. Surprisingly not bad in the end game once you get solid gear Imo. I'm actually doing all of the side missions before beating the game.
@@The_NJG I really wanted to play NG+ for the Zeus armor because it looks insane but didn’t have the time, the armor was a huge highlight in both 2018 & Ragnarök imo.
Oof. You're a greater God than me. I spiked a PS2 controller into the ground over frustrations around the highest difficulty in the Greek God of War. I don't have the mental capacity for it lol
GMGOW is really only difficult if you intentionally (or unintentionally) avoid the many insanely powerful items in game. Even using just a taste of them can instantly trivialize the difficulty of the game. The initial learning curve of the combat can be quite brutal for anyone tho. :D
The hardest part of GMGOW, aside from Sigrun, are the fucking Draugr in that opening place where Atreus falls off a bridge. You are level 1, have like 2 abilities unlocked, only hell's touch, enemies 2 shot you and there are many of them. I feel once you get decent armour- sindri armour and later Nifleheim armour the game becomes much easier. Sigrun is still a bitch but you can beat her.
it might be a little embarrassing but i took 4 days of non stop fighting to beat that section, eventually i just decided to cheese the fight and knock them off the ledge using heavy attacks... then the heavy draugrs came in and i took another 4 days
@@LabXperiment_ First time I did GMGOW the first 2 draugr killed me 4 times. Because they would level up until they were purple and my dumb ass( who up until that point had not played GMGOW) fifn't know that you have to spam heavy attacks to interupt level ups. I later spent 2 days- the evening when I started my GMGOW and the better part of my free time the next time to get thrugh that draugr section. Don't feel bad for cheesing in GMGOW. Especially before you get fully upgraded blades and axe with level 3 runic attacks cheese is very much needed.
@teddykazandjiev any knock back or stun will interrupt, personally best options for me were axe throws and Atreus arrows (any arrow works). I would also focus 1 at a time cause they don’t transform unless they have taken dmg from you or Atreus so best is to focus 1 guy and hope boy doesn’t go causing trouble
That one is a lot easier. It basically reduced the combat to hold block button and attack or use one of the dozend attack cancelling moves once it uses an unblockable attack because 99% of enemies don't even follow up on semi blockable attacks. The only hard fight in the game is the triple enemy because your fov is too little to consistently see all 3 enemies to dodge the one hit attacks. Shame that it reduced an amazing combat system to the shit ragnarok is.
I would hate fighting the dark elves too if i had the situational awareness of a grapefruit But seriously, watch out for the flash bombs, thats about it
Try doing the whole game with only using atreus' arrows when possible..... On give me God of war. Single most difficult challenge I've put myself through, and I like to do odd challenges. Took around 100 hours, but I'm dogshit.
Honestly I'd say in the 50-55 range, I can't give a real answer because I'm notoriously bad at leaving my game running for hours on end while I'm not at my desk lol
