Shelby, NC 3T22 Hi-Lo / Attack | Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department

- After lots of debate, I decided to go to Shelby to record their 3T22 instead of Boiling Springs, as it was closer. I arrived and asked to do some photo documentation of the controls. I asked to do Hi-Lo and was given the go-ahead by an older member of the fire department. This siren was installed in 1962, and ran Hi-Lo for Fire Calls, but only for a little while. There was a hospital nearby that complained back then, and then it was turned off for Fire Calls. It was originally painted Yellow but was taken down later to be repainted red. This was the first time it had run Hi-Lo in many years and was surprisingly functional given the Circumstances.
Do not misuse tones, or illegally activate sirens. Activating sirens without the expressed permission of your local governing body is extremely illegal and carries prison time + a several hundred thousand dollar fine.
1962! I didn't realize how old this siren is! But I'm glad it sounds so awesome for a GE-powered FS&S 3T22.
The GE motor has an unmistakable windup "curve", abruptly stops accelerating at full speed instead of a quick plateau.
@@TheMatsushitaMan Awesome, that is good to know! Thanks for letting me know about that. I like your user name. :) 👍🏼
@@TheMatsushitaMani should definitely model my 1/3 scale after a GE motor then! My samsung motor windup definitely would be most resemblant of the 3 phase ge windup
@TheMatsushitaMan demetrius and i have built that mini and it definitely imitates a 3 phase GE on 480V!

Wow fantastic to see another 3t22 going Hi Lo congrats on getting the honor to set her off!!!!!
Sounds awesome! If they get that top solenoid fixed they should use it in Hi Lo again.
I doubt they will because the siren is not used for fire calls anymore.
@@TheBrokenThunderbolt it is still used for fire calls.
@@United_HVAC_and_Fans so it still does hi-lo?
@@TheBrokenThunderboltas said in the description Hilo on this siren still isn’t used, only attack
I like how the guy just says "1944" when asked about the model of the old fire truck.
Although it looks to be a 1944 International, the windshield and roof looks like it came off of an old military 6×6 truck... while still having the same back glass from an international truck.
2 years later in 2024, tornadoes struck Michigan on the very date you sounded the hi-lo signal
Awesome!
I like your background on your account I love thunderbolt and 3t22 and Whelen and a lot more
Pretty hot. You should see about having that top damper fixed. That old fire truck was pretty neat too, I love seeing those old things.
Thats the best 3T I’ve ever heard
Bro its alternate wail now
Wait, really? Yesterday, I thought it was attack hi lo
I love this
Damn shame I missed this.
ill see you there next test ;)
You got pretty good recordings No need to be shamed you can go back because I know everyone will show up for the next one after this amazing video
I wish your friend SPCKennesaw should record it with hilo
Wait your friend SPCKennesaw did record it
Why is it higher pitched on attack than others?
does that one do a test or no and if so when?
Totally awesome!👍
I really thought this would do normal hi-lo, but ig its broken
Nope! It's dual tone, designed to sound that way plays two pitches at once
@@lil_angel_wolf8184 bro i know its dual tone i was saying it sucks that not both dampers work..
Combine both signals together
NICE!
