That was such a great episode. Both the younger and the elder were so informative. I love how Mrs O graciously extended her support to the young activist. That alliance is so necessary and that exemple will extend to more alliances which will reinforce the work of our people. Thank you Tiffany for leading the conversation in such a brilliant way.

"Laws in theory, lies in practice..." I feel this is spot on, Mrs. O.

She is SUPER right about protesting with groups who can do something. I remember paying for a bus ride to protest Jena 6 in Louisiana. That group took up a collection to pay a bonus to the bus driver for waiting and organized birthday parties, but I repeatedly asked about a donation for legal fees and getting the one guy out of jail. Crickets! Even in person, sometimes people treat causes like a field trip. I was pissed.

African Proverb: "The child who is not embraced by the village warmth will burn it down to feel its warmth "

Dang! I was not expecting "the elder" to start talking about all the times she went to jail. She was very much about that activism life. 🤜

GREAT episode!!! I nvr saw the phrase I am not my ancestors as offensive, but indicative that they did not practice non-violence.
My thought on the riot: THE CHILD WHO IS NOT EMBRACED BY THE VILLAGE WILL BURN IT DOWN TO FEEL ITS WARMTH ~ AFRICAN PROVERB
I also think, if you cage people like animals & discard them as if they have no value, you can NOT be angered when they show you animal behavior OR that they devalue lives & property.
I do not condone violence nor destruction of property, but I also understand why ppl choose these routes.

    Awesome episode.
Glad to see folks that we don't see in the forefront. Atlanta has some phenomenal community activists that do not get a true opportunity to speak and Jill has been and is a great representation. What Mrs. O said about Atlanta leadership is so true. Even the older activists and City/Government leaders have been bought to enhance the agenda of white corporations in Atlanta.
Its refreshing to see The Cross Connection evolve into ACross Generations! Thank you Tiffany for not giving up!

I'm only halfway through the pod, but must stress - The only thing that actually counts is your VOTE and your MONEY. Lots of talk today, and hopefully it will result in enough VOTES to make a difference and it will guide everyone to research who is benefiting from their purchases before they spend money frivolously. It is especially difficult to hold the youngest generation of voters accountable because there is no way to know if they understand that a hashtag isn't enough. Their VOTE and their MONEY must happen as well.

AMEN! The only thing marching does is bring awareness to a problem the real change is rooted in voting.

I don't think it's meant to be disrespectful at all. I think the message is we won't face violence with non violence any longer as our ancestors did during the Civil rights movement. Problematic, right or wrong? It's a powerful message a pointed message. Or I missed something with these shirts.

You are right. It means we will not be treated the way they were treated. Not disrespectful.

If you start a fight…..I’m jumping in however, respectfully, the slogan “we are not our ancestors” I do not think is meant to be disrespectful. Our ancestors took a lot, put up with a lot because they did not have a choice. When it is said today, it is to notify others that we are not putting up with the BS.

Agreed, Tiffany, that shirt is sooo disrespectful. It reflects the need for more knowledge of history.

See..this senior lady is showing exactly what the youth are saying. To say there was never a movement in ATL is all lies and quite disrespectful
