    Get a small blow heater to heat van very fast then a oil rad with temp controller to keep it warm even when out. We have had same heating and as you. You have paid for the electricity you don't have to worry about using heaters. Keep beding open for the boys until bed to heat sleeping bags we also have heated blankets. So no need to be cold. 😊😊

    You can use any old coat as a water jacket. Run the connection pipe up the sleeves. A bin liner over the top with a bungy keeps it all waterproof.

    We have a 6td, same layout and issue with the rear getting heating. I've bought some insulation for the heating pipe as its the only one which runs outside the van and I think it loses a lot of heat from that. You can also get a reduction piece for the tube to try and increase flow. Blocking off the vents in the front can also push more air to the back. Glad to see you getting out in the cold, my better half still isn't keena this time of year!

      That’s interesting to know thank you for this appreciate it. we didn’t know if there was something wrong with the heating but with what you have said that’s just how it is. We may have to look into insulation thank you for watching and commenting 😀

    As winter caravaners too, we have a similar problem with our blown air heater not heating the rear of the van. To combat this we use a small.oil filled radiator uhere, which makesa big difference. I have to congratulate you on making maximum use of your van, keep making memories.

      Thanks for the advice, will be something we may have to consider. Doesn’t help it’s exceptionally cold and the first time we’ve used it being this chilly outside! 🥶

    Good to see more people winter caravaning. I would recommend an insulated cover for the water barrel and connection pipe. We do use serviced pitches but not in winter to avoid frozen pipes etc. We were at this site in Jan 2 years ago and the air awning was solid with frost and ice for 3 days.
    Regarding the shower block which is great, you do get an icey blast across the floor every time the external was opened.

    • @jeremysymes

      Insulated covers are definitely something we will be looking into getting because we want to be able to do this all year round with as little problems as possible 😂

    Hi there. You’re all doing amazingly well as new caravanners. Great reversing onto the pitch too. We also think that the sites are a lovely place to be as we have always found our fellow caravanners to be friendly and helpful but would also be happy to knock on the door ask to borrow forgotten items such as a bottle opener etc. It all makes the sites have a lovely atmosphere. Love Morn hill too as a site and glad you all enjoyed your break. 👍😊Amanda and Paul.

    Same as some other comments, we also had a 6TD (2017) and found the heating for the kids at the back pretty crap. Again, roasting at the front, but heat is lost as it travels through the pipes from the boiler at the front. There's nothing wrong with your van, that's just how the blown air system is on these. Wasn't really an issue for us since we only camp from late April to Oct.
    Regarding condensation, on this specific van, also keep an eye on the corner at the back by the bunk beds (from floor to ceiling). They are prone to it and can also stain the sides over time, just due to lack of air flow. It's no big deal, and doesn't mean you have damp ingress - just something to check and wipe with a towel if needed.
    Great reversing - you should be proud mate 👍

    • @jeremysymes
      @jeremysymes  14 днів тому

      Thanks for watching 😀 I must admit the heating isn’t great at the back, but it doesn’t help it’s been so cold hopefully it will warm up soon 🤞🏼we might look into having the pipes insulated if we can. And it’s funny that you said about the condensation by the bed I did notice that when we put it back into storage I pulled the buck bed mattress’s away from the wall. Appreciate your comment especially as you have owned one and thank you I’m slowly getting there with my reversing 😀

    We have the same issue with the heating getting warm, We learnt that putting it on Gas and electric at the same time heats up the Caravan quicker, Alternate a little fan blower heater as back up too! Hope it helps and Happy Caravanning

    • @jeremysymes
      @jeremysymes  17 днів тому

      This is the first trip we’ve ever used the gas heating with the electric to help it get warm! It did work really quickly and heated the van in no time, it was just the electric alone that was falling slightly flat this time. Could have just been because it was just so cold! 🥶 the heater is a great idea!

    Nice to see many caravans/motorhomes been used during winter I've been told especially in my van the heating is not great but I tried it whilst I was away before Xmas it took some time to get warm but did work very well and because my bathroom is close to the space heater it got really hot but I mainly used a low wattage for caravans fan heater I've had it a long time and have taken it on many camping trips it doesn't take long to heat up either

    You don't need to turn tap on full, only have it just turned on. The other thing just make sure when putting float in aqua roll that you get it the right way up and not get it twisted as you screw it up or you'll get an overflow because it's not turning off. 19:32

    We winter caravan and spent Christmas, New Year at a site in Diss Suffolk.
    We had a variety of weather's but on our last day, our hose was frozen solid.
    We use vacuum bags for our bedding and any clean clothes or towels we like to leave at the van.
    We have a Bailey Alicanto Porto 8ft wide.
    Looking forward to the new season, We are going to Cirencester caravan club site for Easter.
    Were you told to drain all the water from your on board water tank and also leave your taps open.
    Enjoy your adventures

    I copied my waste pipe from watching Robs Wise Ways here on UA-cam, he uses a 32mm push fit pipe with the relevant connections. The hanging straps I ordered from Ebay, this saves any drilling holes. Using the push fit pipe only a small amount of flexible pipe is required at the end to reach the drain
    Works a treat for me, I have photos of my set up if it helps. 👍🏻

      Should say I know a lot of people who adapt washing machine waste hose (which is really cheap) for use as van waste pipes.
      Far cheaper than buying from a caravan dealer given it's super cheap from screwfix.

    We use vaccuum packs, but way cheaper ones than lakeland ones. Cheap as they come from amazon, and take a vac to re-do the vacuum before we leave sites. (we take a small shark battery vac with us).

      @jeremysymes  17 днів тому

      @@starquakey1 interesting to know, we did take our actual hoover with us for this reason but unfortunately it died half way through vacuuming them and we didn’t bring the charger 🤦🏼‍♂️

  • @RollingwithTheRobsons
    @RollingwithTheRobsons 17 днів тому

    I would get yourself the collapz pipes they are great. The swift bottom end has always been an issue. It's because Swift routes the pipes outside under the van so by the time it's at back it's cold. You have to lag the pipe outside and that will improve it a bit. One of the reasons we didn't go back for that layout which I will be honest we love but it's just not the best heating design. I would prefer the kids being warm and us being cold to be honest.

    • @jeremysymes

      I’ve heard that they run the heating under the caravan I’ll have to get under there and have a look and see if we can lag it. It also doesn’t help it’s been so cold 🥶 I’ll look into the pipes thank you appreciate it

    • @jeremysymes
      @jeremysymes  17 днів тому

      I’m not 100% sure if it runs underneath but a few people have mentioned this in the comments, so it’s something I’m going to have to have a look into I think!
